I first time I read this book was 5 years ago. I still use phrases and words from this book that others find hillarious. If you are in sales, management, or just a person who needs a new twist on everyday phrases this is the book for you. I also recommend this book for all those who are moving to Texas, it will help you to understand the people and the culture better.

Having known and worked with Mister Bruce (as he is called by those who know and love him) I can only tell you that his book is a fascinating and inspirational look into the music business and his personal life. Bruce and I pass each other every day...and if not, then I seek him out to just say "hey".

This is the first of many books from the mind of a someone who is a true friend, an honest person, a good soul, and a wonderful spirit to have in your life!

Those that have been blessed to know him will enjoy his book from start to finish, and those that don't know him...what are you waiting for - buy this book and get to know and love Mister Bruce as we all do.

Blessings all around! Peace and Love!

Splendid overview of this trade
Helpful Votes: 7 out of 7 total.
Review Date: 2003-09-18
This is the companion catalog to an important and long awaited exhibit of some of the most exquisite firearms ever made in modern times, which was held at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts. The photography is stunning, the biographical and technical texts written by Wallace Gusler and Mark Silver are excellent and highly instructive, and the entire spectrum of decorated firearms is ably represented.

Firearms enthusiasts of every inclination will find something in here that will make them mute with wonder. Anyone with the least interest in fine firearms as an art form will be very sorry indeed if he doesn't pick up a copy of this (probably soon to be scarce) volume. It belongs alongside Wilson's "Steel Canvas", and is really in some ways a more important work, marking one of the very few times that professional fine arts academia has shown a serious interest in firearms as other than oddities to be explained away politically, or shunned outright. The incredible beauty and artistic sophistication in evidence here make it plain that these firearms, and hundreds like them not available for this publication, deserve a place on the front rank of any of the decorative art forms man has produced.

Not to be overlooked is the touching and entirely appropriate homage to John Bivins, who can rightly claim to have been one of perhaps five or six souls who diligently resurrected the craft of the American longrifle when it was on the very brink of extinction in the early 1960's. "First among equals", John's legacy will live forever and this book is a fitting testament to his contribution.

Highly recommended.

This is the most helpful book I have ever read on how to encourage others when they have lost a loved one. Mr. Stephenson is writing from his own personal experience of losing his wife & daughter in a tragic accident. He shares his struggles & emotions, & his dependence on God. He has very good suggestions on what to say (or not to say), & what to do (or not do) when people are grieving.

If you read only 1 book about the Tlingit this should be it!

Wally Olson has succeeded in presenting an extremely thorough introductory book about the Tlingit Indians. While it is not the most comprehensive book ever written, it is a must read for anyone interested in the Tlingit. The book is well organized, stimulating reading, and well illustrated. Many books on this subject are very "dry" reading and detail tends to make comprehension difficult. I would recommend this book for anyone who chose to read just one book on this subject, or as a "primer" before tackling more comprehensive books. In 108 pages, the reader is given a thorough "introduction" to the Tlingit: geography, origin and history, language, culture, beliefs, art and a valuable recommended readings list for those who wish to further explore this fascinating tribe. Charts, maps and illustrations (both black and white and color) go a long way to increasing the comprehension of the literary content of the book. Additionally, information is logically presented as well as accurate.

In its humor and the great play of feeling between its characters this work has a special place in American Jewish Literature. I know people who claim that this is their favorite work of all time. It is certainly a work which should be read and known far more than it is.

An Essential Reference for Collectors
Helpful Votes: 6 out of 7 total.
Review Date: 2000-05-29
This book is a detailed description of premiums nostly obtained originally from Old-Time Radio shows and comic books. It catalogues each premium by character name (e.g., Captain Midnight, Tom Mix, Jack Armstrong), many with photographs. In addition to monochrome photos, there are also 12 pages of full-color collections of premiums by type (badges, rings, etc.) plus color cover photos of premiums. Author Tumbusch has researched the premiums diligently, which also include early television as well as radio, "premiums" from comic books and those as "prizes" in cereal packages.

In addition to listing values, Tumbusch makes a point of providing background, where possible, on the various premiums. Particularly for the new collector, the book makes it easy to identify some obscure ring or badge found at a flea market or garage sale.

The book is nearly a decade old, so the prices listed shouldn't be taken too seriously, though they might provide an idea of the relative values of premiums.

Even those not collecting such items should find the pictures and writeup of the premiums an interesting and informative perspective on the collectibles of yore.

Well, R.g.Wallace....I'd say your little book of poetry is going to be a big hit. I love it and so will everyone else who has a heart and feelings.

You have put into words those deep feelings that each of us has felt at some time in our lives. Those deep feelings that made us wish WE could have expressed, but instead left quietly buried inside. Thank you.
