We took a trip through 4 states and had purchased 5 sets of books on CD. They all worked out great. We put them in our portable
DVD player w/double headset jacks and 2 of us could listen at the same time. We laughed together at how silly Amelia Bedelia
can be. Great purchases with many years of enjoyment left in them.

No good library should be without this and other collections of Playboy interviews. They are without doubt some of the most
candid, thorough and insightful interviews of the idea-makers and prime-movers of our times.
In this volume the interviews of Muhammad Ali (then Cassisus Clay), Ayn Rand, Fidel Castro, Marlon Brando, and Martin Luther King alone are worth the price - but there are amny many more. Five stars.

Absolutely stunning, glorious and sensual black and white photos of Beatrice Wood.
B. Wood conveys in her photos that life can be lived with enthusiasm and zeal at 100 years old.
She inspires me on every level as a woman.
A small yet magnificent book.

OLDER WORK...GREAT LESSON...GREAT READ

This is a story for young readers that brings to light a long forgotten problem this country faced during and shortly after
WWI. That of Plume Hunting. This was the practice of killing hundreds and thousands of birds, many of them on the verge
of extinction, merely for their feathers. In this story the the Snowy Egret was center stage. The story is of the raiding
of their last few nesting areas and is the story of of thier rookeries, pretty well whipping them out. This story of course
has a very good mystry envolved...two young children investigating the and trying to find the greedy raiders. Ms. Wallace
is a natural story teller and eventhough this work was first published in 1959, it still has much to teach us today. This
work was accomplished before this country became aware of our environment being completely destroyed and is sort of a landmark
work. It is a shame this one is not longer in print. If you can lay your hands on a copy, do so, you certainly will not
be sorry.

This collection edited by Samuel French Morse provides in chronological order a good share of Stevens' most well- known and
anthologized poetry.
It has a small introduction by Morse in which he speaks of a few of the general features of Stevens' work, and of his major considerations in his editing of the volume.
As I understand it much more is taken from the early work of Stevens than from that of his last years. The great poems of 'Harmonium' such as 'Peter Quince at the Clavier' and 'Sunday Morning' are featured.
Stevens' incredibly great musical gift, the sensuous richness of his language is clearly out of the Shakespeare- Keats tradition. He refers to Whitman , and Whitman is certainly in his consciousness. But it seems to me he does not come close to encompassing the worlds of perception and reality that Whitman does. Detached and distant, his art seems far more impersonal and remote than that of the great confessional Poets. His meditativeness and reflectiveness enrich almost every poem. And his metaphoric richness surprises time and time again. Neologisms abound and his complicated discursive vocabulary make his work always difficult and always interesting. Stevens is a poet supremely conscious of his art and its devices, of the play of Imagination and Reality, of the Fictive at the heart of what he most believes.
This is a selection of the best of one of America's greatest poets.
Again it may be difficult to read, but with the difficulty comes real delight and unexpected pleasure.

CERTAINLY ONE TO READ WITH THE YOUNG READER

I cannot think of a better way to introduce the poetry of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow than this small volume. The selection
is excellent and of interest you the young reader. The commentary is quite relevant as are the pictures which accompany it.
I find that often now, our young people go all the way through the early grades in school and many of them have never heard
of Longfellow much less read his poetry. This was the sort of stuff my generation and the generation before it grew up on
and cut our teeth on. I do not feel I am any worse for the wear. I am fearful that we are bringing up an entire generation
(rightfully or wrong, although I feel it is the later) of young folks who will have no appreciation to this great art form
and will miss a lot. This book helps. This entire series helps, as a matter of fact and I certainly recommend you add this
one and the others to your library. Actually, it is rather fun reading these with the young folk and then talking about them.
Not only do you get to enjoy the work your self and perhaps bring back some great memories, but you have the opportunity to
interact with your child or student. It is actually rather surprising what some of the kids come up with. I read these to
my grandchildren and to the kids in my classes at school. For the most part, when I really get to discussing the work with
them, they enjoy it. NOTE: After reading the reviews above from School Library Journal and Kirkus review, I am not sure
if they or I read the same work. I would personally recommend you rather ignore some of the negative comments. I will say
though, that this is one you might want to read with your child or children though, as there are some rather archaic terms
used, delightful, but archaic. Recommend this one highly.

to explain even to the youngest child. The entire series is well done. Recommended.

I am a biology major with a minor in chemistry and Spanish and certification in physics. I have found the text to lend itself to use by someone with my background.
Flexibility is one of the many strong points of the text. There are a sampling of lab suggestions and problem samples in the text. There are references to supplement the material.
I have been pleased with the successful motivation of students by Chapter 2 entitled Applications of Physics to Science, Technology, and Society which demonstrate the usefulness of physics of such purposes as RADAR, Sports Medicine, and about a dozen other topics.
I have found Physics - The Root Science to meet the needs of both myself and my students. It is a text that I can use to successfully introduce the world of physics to a variety of students with a variety of needs and backgrounds. It is one of the few texts that I have seen that I can cover in a year, that doesn't overwhelm, that does a masterful job of helping me cover what must be covered to prepare my students for further course work, both in physics and in other sciences.
