This text provides an excellent overview of the diagnosis and treatment of surgical emergencies commonly encountered in the
field of vascular surgery. It is well organized by specific body areas and there is a section on general concepts that will
be especially useful to those in residency and fellowship training or beginning a vascular surgical career. The excellent
illustrations help to augment the text.

It has been one of the best books I have read in a long time. It is an intellectual treat without being overwhelming, a combination
if deep thought, sarcasm, humor and sensible insights. I would recommend it as perfect for summer time reading, not your usual
cheep novel for sure...

Leaving East Boston

I didn't care for "Mystic River." I'm from Boston and I didn't think it was "Boston" enough. This novel, however, is authentic,
and everything about it is smart: great characters, believable dialogue that's full-on local, and a fantastic plot. I didn't
think it was "long-winded" (as one critic wrote here). I never wanted it to end. It brings to mind "The Friends of Eddie
Coyle," a touching novel about Massachusetts gun-runners, made into a film with Robert Mitchum. I hear they're making a
film of this book, too. Thematically, it reminds me of the film "Leaving Las Vegas," in which unrepentant alcoholic Nicholas
Cage falls for a beautiful call girl, Elizabeth Shue. In fact, the author of "Thieves" must have had this story in mind;
Elizabeth Shue is the protagonists' dream girl. It's a Denis Leary, Donny Wahlberg, Ben Affleck kind of vehicle. I just hope
they don't get Leonardo diCaprio to play the lead. He's so obviously a rich brat, and so NOT Boston. I'm tired of movies
about Boston characters being played by actors who aren't from Boston and who get the accents/vocal tones all wrong. I mean:
Boston readers - did Jack Nicholson - or Al Pacino - sound like they were from Boston to you? There are plenty of great Boston
actors who can carry films about their city. Oh, well, at least you won't be disappointed by the book. It's the real deal.
P.S. Even the books on tape aren't read by Bostonians, and you can tell. There were references to "Haver - HILL," etc.
Know what I'm sayin'?

I read the book and, quite honestly, I only put forth the money for the audiobook because Donnie Wahlberg was reading it.
I love him as an actor and he doesn't disappoint reading Chuck Hogan's novel. It's a fast moving novel and Donnie does a
fabulouis job bringing an already good book to life! Chuck Hogan & Donnie Wahlberg should team up again!

A very good read, hat's off to Hogan and his wonderful characters. Read this book and don't wait for the movie, you'll love
it.

I write crime fiction, so I tend to be selective about what in the genre I read. While there's a lot of stuff that will blow
your hair back, there's also plenty that doesn't seem to be trying very hard, or that is written without care or style.
This one ain't that.
Following four bank robbers from a rough Boston neighborhood, PRINCE OF THIEVES is that rarest of combinations: a tremendously entertaining ride, gorgeously written, with depth and detail that enhance, but never get in the way of, a breathless story. The characters, especially the men, are beautifully rendered, and the Charlestown they inhabit has grime under its nails and blood in its veins. Highly recommended.

PRINCE OF THIEVES is well written, but I agree with the Publisher's Weekly Review that this book is a rather long-winded affair
with largely unsympathetic characters.
This book is ultimately a simple story about a bank robber who wants to get out of the business. PRINCE OF THIEVES begins with him robbing a bank in the Boston area, and then developing a romantic relationship with a teller at that very bank. In an unlikely plot development, the FBI agent investigating the crime is also romantically interested in the woman, creating a dangerous love triangle of sorts. Meanwhile, the bank robber has to disentangle himself from the grip of his dysfunctional partners in crime, who don't want him to leave.
Hogan's writing is good, but verbose, with lots of stylish dialogue and description of details that don't really move the plot foward. I found myself skipping over quite a few paragraphs as I went along. The characterization is also oddly flat -- the bank teller, in particular, is not really fleshed out that much as a person. As a result, it's not entirely clear why the bank robber and FBI agent are so infatuated with her, which makes many of the romantic scenes unconvincing.
PRINCE OF THIEVES has some great prose, and does pick up speed toward the last fifty or so pages. But I found that book lacked momentum and I wasn't really engaged by it. So if you're looking for a fast moving page-turner, my advice is to go elsewhere.

This book is based almost entirely on accumulating second hand rumors and speculation from other sources and amassing them
into what loosely constitutes 'A Book.' The author's only original section comes when he details coming face to face with
Mark Wahlberg at a gym. Does he bother to speak to Mark? No? Why? Because the author is spineless. This book is spineless.
Definitely bottom of the pile as far as unauthorized biographies go. A disappointment.

"Swiftdeer's" real name is Harley Reagan, a blond white guy who sometimes impersonates being Cherokee and sometimes impersonates
being Mayan. And some are dumb enough to fall for it. Some are also apparently dumb enough to believe that Eastern Mysticism
is the same as Native American, that sex orgies are part of Cherokee beliefs, and that being a gun toting survivalist, pimp,
and pervert extraordinaire are compatible with being an Indian medicine man...Some gullible New Agers and shame-on wannabes
will still undoubtedly be dumb enough to throw their time, money, and even their lives away on this fraud, just like...Porsche
Lynn did.

It's hard to believe that this man deserves to have a book written about him. His so-called teachings are just a con to take
money from people. Teachings of so called sexual-spirituality are again just another scam. Emotionally and sexually damaged
people are being told to follow their teachings.
This damages them even more and leaves them ripe pickings for the so called teachers to exploit further. This man and his organization should be the subject of an investigation by the FBI

This wonderful book tells the story of a man's journey to his awakening. From his childhood as a "half-breed" raised by both
white and Cherokee kin, loved and nurtured by his remarkable Cherokee grandmother; through his hellish experience in Vietnam,
to his awakening as the Shaman and healer he is today -- this book was gripping and transformational for this reader. I was
sorry it came to an end.

this man is a complete fake. wilma mankiller, former chief of the cherokee tribe, has specifically spoken out against this
man.
as someone who REALLY IS of cherokee ancestry and was raised in this manner, i find it EXTREMELY offensive he is being taken seriously in a manner of culture.
the 'reservation' he claims to be raised on DOES NOT EXIST. look it up. i'd love to take this guy for a ride to the reservation i lived next door to.
i think it is insulting not just to actual cherokees, but also to the public at large, because it shows that they STILL have no idea of what actual native american culture is....it's still some idyllic fantasy world to most....do yourselves a favor and read some actual books.
i recommend 'cherokee women' and 'seven clans of the cherokee society'...or anything by sherman alexie. although he is not cherokee, it will still give you an idea of life of a modern native american.
this man is misconstruing what our culture is about, please do not condone this behavior in a way to promotes his cultural lie.
