I have read the book and am very impressed with Dr. Wagner's belief and success in alternative healing. I live in Australia and would be most grateful if I could have an address to write to Dr. Wagner about a problem that is not covered in his book. Could you please e-mail a contact address, if possible. Many, many thanks.

this book has opened my eyes to alternative healing. dr. wagner offers a comprehensive guide to improve health through nutrition & supplements. the book is easy to read & concerns are outlined to be very specific. his intro is personel, informative, interesting& enlightening. then he gives you a list of ailments which might pertain to you. after referring to the page # for that specific ailment, you are given a break down of five sections( definition, causes, conventional treatment, problems associated with conventional treatment, alternative natural remedies) the third section of the book includes case histories referring back to each of the ailments listed in the contents. case histories give information which is personel & real results. i enjoyed the book & refer to several times a month when friends & family have some concerns. it is yet another tool for us to utilize in order to make more informative decisions concerning our health. thank dr. wagner for writing this book & i look forward to reading your other book entitled " how to stay out of the hospital" I would like information o how to get in touch with Dr. Wagner in regards to making an appointment.

I purchased "How To Stay Out of the Doctor's Office" several years ago, and I am convinced the book has saved me thousands of dollars in medical bills. Wagner's book helps you to diagnose common physical ailments, and he gives natural solutions for healing. He gives precise descriptions of problems like kidney stones, gallstones, high blood pressure, cholesterol control, thyroid problems, multiple sclerosis, gout, tinnitis, yeast infections, ulcers, and diabetes. I have read some sections of his book several times, and I am convinced that I have avoided/cured gallstones, kidney stones, gout, and ulcers by following his advice. I highly recommend this book to everyone. (jsoverton@excite.com)

Three years ago I read "How to Stay Out of the Doctor's Office" and was so impressed with it that I contacted the publisher to find out where Dr. Wagner was located. Several days later he called me directly and asked how he could be of help. Since then Dr. Wagner has become our family doctor, and we have come to appreciate his straightforwardness in telling his patients to ask questions, to become educated in making informed decisions, and finally, to "take control" of their own health. I keep his book with me at all times and treat it as my "medical bible". Each chapter is extremely informative and I have used many of them to help family and friends with common sense solutions to their medical problems. Easy to read, its format offers the layperson a basic understanding of his/her ailment, what causes it, the conventional treatment, problems associated with that treatment, and then a "no nonsense" approach to alternative remedies that include a good nutritional program, vitamin and supplement support, amino acids, herbs, adjunctive remedies, and exercise regimens. Dr. Wagner is located in Philadelphia, PA. He has a radio program, "The Dr. Wagner Health Show" which airs on Tuesday and Thursday at 2:00 p.m. on 1540am. He has written another book, "How to Stay Out of the Hospital" which addresses the problems of orthodox medicine and offers many case histories. With Dr. Wagner's permission, I am including his office number for those readers who need to contact him: (215) 455-0717.

Start with Book 1: Beginners, to get the foundation of sugarcraft skills then move onto this one, the advanced version with many more expanded techniques. As in Book 1, Book 2 lays out each technique step-by-step, with gorgeous photographs and easy to understand text. These are progressive lessons in sugarcraft, each building on the skills learned in the previous one.
The text is written for an international audience with metric measurements and imperial in parenthesis. There are occasional bumps in the translation for American readers(the reference to a "cake board" is actually a "cake drum" found in British import or specialty baking shops),however, 99% of the math is done for you and I had no trouble doing the little bit of calculating needed. It is good practice for other books on sugarcraft you will no doubt want to buy later that only use metric measurements and international terms.

The designs are unique and very do-able, although patience is a requirement. Practice, practice, practice.I strongly recommend purchasing Book 1:Beginners, as this book is a continuation to advance your skills and not a starting point. Recipes are included with an array of patterns and a glossary of terms. My only complaint with these books is that they aren't spiral-bound to lay flat.

Really captures the feelings while giving the history!

This is a wonderful and easy read that captures the strains, toils and joys that happened on the voyage out west. The author did a very good job of crafting a series of individual stories together into a mosaic. The stories collectively provide insight into the feelings of our brave ancestors, who set out on such a dangerous voyage, all to create a better life for their family. I would highly recommend it, especially so for the school kids!

A native resident of southeastern U.S., Tricia Martineau Wagner, while living in California, became captivated by western history, especially the means by which the U.S. became a nation that spanned the continent. Her interest led her to write intriguing stories of those who lived the reality of life on the westward trail while crossing a vast wilderness from Missouri, stretching over 2,000 miles to the bewildering heights of the Rocky Mountains. She depicts a variety of experiences of men, women and children who walked the dusty, long trail midst their worst enemies--time, disease and weather. Tricia's superlative narration swiftly binds the reader to the lives of these historic characters, bringing them vividly to life in the minds-eye. Her twenty-nine factual short stories reveal meticulous research shown in the bibliography. Being a descendant of Rebecca Burdick Winters, the focus of Tricia's last story, I felt again the love and sacrifice of a pioneer mother for family, religion, and friends while reading Tricia's rendition of Rebecca's death by cholera on the plains. Others who felt of Rebecca's love returned that love by burying her body deeply and staying up through the night chiseling her identity into a tire iron to place as her head stone. Rebecca's love did not end with her death, but continued to inspire her family 144 years later when they exhumed her remains for a more proper burial. Rebecca's love still continues, as Tricia later wrote, "Rebecca is working through us all." The entire book opens a little-known frontier of knowledge of an era that each of us can experience vicariously through Tricia's exceptionally well written book.

It Happened on the Oregon Trail is a great resource for history teachers who are looking for a well-written collection of researched accounts of America's true pioneers who traveled the Oregon Trail. It serves as a coloful supplement to the often-dry and sparsely detailed history textbook recollections of trail stories. Written in an almost lyrical style, students and teachers will find the vignettes captivating and very emotional. Tricia Martineau Wagner has captured history the way it should be told!

Quite simply put, this book passes muster as one of the best in American literary classics. The protagonist is complex and paranormal, yet she remains likeable and identifyable. The plot is engrossing and mythically cast, but also simple and approachable. The themes are timeless and alluring, but not trite. Ms. Wagner has somehow captured a masterpiece mixing of divine grace and visceral drama that is rarely seen in such writing genre.

Keep your eyes fixed on this one... it is sure to be vaulted into national prestige and best-sellership.

Missing Heaven made me remember that all living is not the everyday mundanity with which we become obsessed. Rather, the book brought to the fore questions about the mysteries of life; questions that made me want to think about my spirituality in a whole new way. Those questions are not necessarily answered here, but are asked in such a way as to remind us that we should, from time to time, think about who we are and what we can contribute to mankind. While Hannah has a great spiritual gift, her greatest gift is the love, support, and understanding of the people around her. Missing Heaven will change the way you think about your life and the people you encounter along the way. Don't miss this book.

Up and coming author, Caroline Wagner, has fame written all over her newest release Missing Heaven. When discussing this book with a fellow reader it was compared to Sebold's "Lovely Bones". Yes, it's that good! It's supernatural, compelling, and as cliche as this is, I couldn't put it down. Seriously. There's a little for everyone in this story; drama, suspense, mystery, romance, and lots of adventure. The entire read I felt I knew every character, as if I could paste faces of those in my own life into the very pages. This book is alive and waiting to be read again and again. Planning to purchase multiple copies to give as gifts! Excellent... ELEVEN STARS!!!!

I loved this book! Everything about it was awesome. The story was so deep, and I really felt like I could relate to the charecter. A lot of books have that storyline; a person discovers they have extraordinary powers. But this wasn't overdone at all like most of those books I've read. Plus, I'm sixteen years old and it's not every day that I come by a book I like as much as this one. I deffinantly had trouble putting it down. There are so many things the author could expand on... I just hope she'll write a sequel!!!

I loved Missing Heaven! Right from the first page I was drawn into the book, the character of Hannah and the life she must lead as a healer.

I felt so many emotions, anger, love, distrust, awe, compassion, chaos and fear. Those emotions helped me feel for some of the characters. Some, I wanted to listen to or give advice, or hug, and others, I wanted to slap! In the many voices the author used to tell Hannah's story, I felt like I was watching a play or a movie. I was immersed in this story. I really felt like I was there, watching with my own eyes. When Hannah was a child, I felt like I was listening to a child tell her story.

I want to read more about this woman and those in her life. Even though she seems to have more than she can deal with, somehow she makes me feel hope.

With the progression of human culture in the digital age developing as it is, it's intriguing to look back at even the recent past and see where we've been and where we were thought to be going. The collection of writings in this volume are invaluable and often shockingly ahead of their time. Anyone who expects to be successful in the future - in this ever-evolving digital world - would benefit by reading this book, and sooner rather than later.

From Futurist Cinema, to artificial intelligence, to cyberspace, this collection highlights the origins of multimedia, its influences, its directions, and its future possibilities. It includes an insightful and comprehensive introduction by Packer and Jordan themselves, and the authors they have chosen to include in this work reflect the vast landscape of multimedia in its many iterations: Vannevar Bush, William Gibson, Norbert Wiener, John Cage, and Janet Murray, just to mention a few. This book is a must-have for anyone interested in peeking below the surface of multimedia evolution.

Reading this collection of articles gave me a better understanding of the people and ideas that helped shape computer-based communication. The contributors are for the most part well chosen; a few that I might well have done without, I must admit -- but far more excellent choices than "questionable" ones. The organization of the book is interesting as well. I was reminded of the magazine "Mondo 2000" that I subscribed to in the early '90's (multimedia/geek chic).

This book is a must read for anyone interested in modern art and culture, and where its going. The companion web site on www.artmuseum.net is a brilliant compliment to the book, with 50 video clips, rare photos and other treats. Finally, a publishing project that "gets it" how to use the web + printed book in a way where the sum is greater than the parts. Its amazing to see how long artists and scientists have been working (alone, and in some cases together) towards this goal. Prehaps the following decade will witness a true "waking up" by the mass culture to this new syntax, new reading-practice, of multi-media hyper-texted information. This book may mark a point in time where we started acknowledging the depth and extent of our post-Guttenburg world. Bravo to Randall Packer and Ken Jordon for pulling this project off.

The book Sarah T. Portraite of a teenage alcoholic was a really good book. I really enjoyed reading about how Sarah struggled through everyday life and the problems that she faced everyday. It was really touching to read about her schedule of everyday life and how she coped with a new family and her drinking problem. It was very hard for her to finally admit that she did indeed have a problem. Even her mother wouldn't admit that she had a problem. But in the end it all worked out and she got the help she needed along with a few friends!

I liked this book because some of my family members like to drink some alcoholic because they think its fun to do.They hang out at bars and some of their friends to go drinking. It's wrong when her dad threw her out on the street when she was cought drinking, because he should have sat down with her and talked to her asked her why she drinks.I felt the book was alright and I would recamend it to some of my classmates in my class to read.I think she was way to young to start drinking at her age.She should of been at least 17 or 18 to start to drink.

As a storyteller I love to tell stories by Hans Christian Anderson and was thrilled to find out he was an accomplished cutter of paper. While his paper cuttings are much more intricate than the ones I do when I tell stories, the author helped me to understand that his ability to tell stories while cutting paper is a good way to keep the attention of small children. I found that "Grandma's Magic Scissors" by Linda S. Day was a good book to learn basic paper cutting skills and hope that someday I can learn to cut the intricate designs that this master storyteller cut, although I think I will carry my scissors in a bag and not my boot.

I'm a paper artist who also happens to be a Hans Christian Andersen fan. I bought the book for myself, although it would be a terrific selection for a child who likes to use scissors and glue or who might be interested in the person behind some of their favorite fairy tales. It's hard to find many printed examples outside of Denmark of Hans Christian Andersen's cut paper work. Beth Wagner Brust is a paper cutter herself and brings this enthusiasm to her book. She has performed a great service for Andersen fans and paper cutters of all ages.

Like so many Americans, I had no idea HC Andersen was a paper-cutting genius, until reading the series of articles by Ms. Brust in the LA Times. Not to mention that he cut these "amazing" intricate pieces while telling one of his stories to a roomful of listeners at the same time.

The book's a treasure in that I feel like I've discovered gold within. Not simply a children's book, it's so well written and full of surprises, I think it will appeal to readers of all ages, from the casually curious child or adult to the Andersen enthusiast like me.

This book has made Mrs.Wagner one of my single most favorite poets. It shows us that there does not have to be a technique or background in poetry to give the world something with as much dept as "The Andrew Poems". I live with my grandmother and when my father passed I have always wonder how it affected her, these pieces have shown me what has gone through her mind and that is something I am very greatful for. If your looking for some dribble light hearted poetry, than this is not for you, but if you want "Poetry" than don't pass this one by.

Although I did not fall directly in the target audience ( if there can be such a thing) for this book, having never lost a child, I was greatly moved by reading it.

I had purchased a copy, and read it in one sitting ( highly recommended) on a trans-continental airline flight. My seat mate kept stealing glances over my shoulder, to find out what I was reading that kept me reaching for my handkerchief, and weeping profusely at times.

Subsequently, I have encountered numerous parents who have lost their children in some accident or tragedy, and I never hesitate to recommend this book to them. Shelly Wagner has given us a phenomenal tool for grief counseling. Read it, and see if there is not someone for whom it is appropriate. This volume belongs in the library of every compassionate human being on the planet.

I will never forget the excitement of seeing this book on the shelf. Admittedly, the heavy emphasis on outstanding photography made me hesitant. But, having been to the Festival a couple of times (and having cut through many a book related to Wagner), I had to go with it. I was not disappointed. Indeed, I would be hard pressed to suggest a better written book on the festival, its relationship to Nazi Germany, the conflict of schools of interpretation, Wagnerism, or ... Wagner! This book sails and you are sorry when the trip is over. It also provides a serious, well-organized discussion of the development of Wagner's music and the characters who desired the association of the Wagner household. The musician, performer, historian, critic, biographer, and disciple will all be entertained.

I consider this book to be very informative, on a topic that may not interest everyone, but anyone who is interested in Wagner and his music should read this book. The links the author makes between the Bayreuth festival and Hitler help explain why Wagner's music was considered central to the National Socialist ideology. Another book which I have read and which I highly recommend for people who do not know much on Wagner but would like to know more is "Wagner without Fear" by William Berger. It mentions the Bayreuth festival, but also summarizes all of Wagner's operas (except "Rienzi"), something which is not found in "Bayreuth: A History of the Wagner Festival."

Fascinating, well-written and highly readable!

Fascinating for the way it weaves the history of the festival and the Wagner family into the overall context of German history in the 19th and 20th centuries, it should be enjoyed by a much wider audience. The growth of virulent nationalism, and the birth of National Socialism and all the evil that followed were intimately intertwined with the evolution of Bayreuth, and they are part of this highly interesting story.

At no point is this book dull or didactic. The story of the relationships between members of Wagner's family are engaging. The many photographs of the various productions, as well of members of the family and notables from the world of music, are well-chosen. The description of the intrigues and genius behind the design of the Festspielhall and the design of the operas make this a book for all who are interested in the theatre. A highly enjoyable work.

A good read, but some odd editorial errors

This is a well-written and hard to put down history of the Bayreuth Festival. Thanks are due to Mr. Spotts for sifting through many works in German that are hard to find. However, there are a couple of curious statements that make me wonder about the veracity of the book as a whole. In his discussion of the 1951 reopening, he refers to Karajan as an up and coming young conductor from Aachen. Well, in 1942 Karajan left Aachen to assume directorship of the Berlin State Opera, and by 1951 his associations with the Vienna Philharmonic and the Philharmonia Orchestra had made him an internationally known recording artist. Hardly a young upstart from the sticks!

In the same chapter, he refers to a society that was organized around Hans Pfitzner to protest the radicalism of Wieland Wagner's productions. However, Pfitzner died in 1949, presumably without seeing the first of Wieland's stagings in 1951. No explanation is given for this statement.

In general, this is a book written by a well-informed and insightful fan, but perhaps one without a strong musical background.

As with their other collaborative efforts, Norris and Wagner present us with a wealth of quality photographs on the best-known airliner. More than that, the authors take us on a journey of how the 747 came to be and where it is today. Each series and variant is surveyed; the information is concise and accurate. While this book may not be the visual feast laid out before us in the Airliner Color History series, this book is highly engaging and well worthwhile to any airliner aficianado.

I would give it 5 stars, if it just has more photos....

The book is great except for one thing. There are not nearly enough, or any, photo's of the inside cabin. I would certainly like see what a 747 looks like on the inside with various views of all 3 levels of the giant. Unfortunatly, the book only shows you one 1969 photo near the front of the book. That of the first
class area. Otherwise, a great book.

Not so informative to bore an aircraft enthusiast, yet provides enough to ponder an aircraft engineer. This contours enough history and facts about the mighty 747 that it's worth reading twice. Ive used this book for foot noting a few aviation college classes. If you like airplanes like I do, you'll enjoy this book.

The book gives you an introduction into the "Birth of a Giant" and explains the evolution from the drawing board to the manufacturing of the "Queen of the Skies". All model ranges are covered and in combination with the pictures and a statistical section on Orders, deliveries, numbers in service makes this book worthwhile reading.
