Wagner Books

This was a great read - pulled me right into the story and I was there! The book is very unique - offering entertainment, a lesson in history and some very thought provoking topics - even questions are included at the end of the book to stir your thoughts. The product description listed above can explain the details better than I can, (I'm not an author!), but I just wanted to encourage anyone intersested in getting the book - this is one of the best adventures you'll ever take in your easy chair!

The title is not half as catching as the book itself. The well known historian Terry G. Jordan (author of German Seed in Texas Soil) wrote about this book: "In this unique biographical case study of 19th-century German migration to the United States, Andreas Reichstein deals with one family's life on both sides of the Atlantic, allowing the reader to understand the 'push' factors that drove the Wagners to emigrate, and the 'pull' factors drawing them to the United States, as well as the cultural changes required for adaptation to America." The book is truly fascinating to read (with exeption of the introduction). Its full of details which bring the past to life -- the situation in Germany in the 19th century as well as the hardships on the frontier. Yet, there's even more to this book. Its not just a vividly told story of immigrant families on the Texas and Illinois frontier but, it also describes what made immigrants become Americans. Its a compelling study about identity, about the past and the - possible -- future of the United States. Rarely have I read a book that intrigued me as much as this one.

My daughter could not put this book down!! She absolutely loved it!! Very creative writing by this talented author. I highly recommend this for any reader who enjoys adventure and history.

I was given a copy of this book when I was in jail, by a visiting minister. What an amazing set of testimonies about how God can change even the most hopeless lives. Now that I minister to those behind bars I refer to the lessons of this book, and I still have my own worn and yellowed copy of this classic.

Finally, a book about God that I can give to absolutely anybody. Whether the person is a believer or a doubter, Glenn Wagner will speak to their heart and soul, and tap their need for God. C.S. Lewis said that his Christianity was like the sunrise. Not only did he see it, but he saw it in everything else. Glenn Wagner's book on God will help everyone see God and see Him in everything else. I especially enjoyed Glenn's chapters on "What God Likes." He shows how God is a God who actually enjoys things and traces God's joy in the areas of truth, beauty, and goodnes. This book is relevant, easy to read, and extremely thought-provoking all in a warm, conversational style that doesn't threaten or intimidate. This is definately worth the read. Buy 5 and give them away to friends like I did.

while walking through a bookstore i came upon an old copy of the goddess and the gaitey girl. i thought it was worth while and decided to buy it. I was very right! the book was about a young woman who needs money for her father's operation which will get rid of a cancer he has contracted. She pretends to be another woman who looks a lot like her (Katie King) and goes to the castle where a duke lives and tells him how she had married his uncle (the previous duke). I won't spoil the ending for you but i believe it was very cute and was G-rated. If you're looking for a sexually charged book this is not for you but it was cute and i enjoyed it tremendously. Pick up a copy!

A WONDERFUL PRESENT for both friends and enemies!!

I found that I wanted to read this book slowly, because there was so much in it that I didn't want to miss. Each chapter explores a truth of the gospel, and the end of the chapter lists Bible verses for diving deeper, along with suggestions for further exploration of the ideas presented. The chapter that affected me most was Chapter 9, which talked about figuring out God's plan for our lives. I learned so much from this book about what a lot of the words to some songs I had been listening to meant. It makes them much more meaningful every time I listen to them now. I would highly recommend this book.
