This is an excellent selection of Cave's pulp magazine weird-menace stories, mostly from the 30s and 40s. Evil lurks on every page, but did the unknown monster or a demon in more human form commit the ghastly murders? With stark pen and ink illustrations by World Fantasy award winning artist Lee Brown Coye and edited by the late master of modern horror Karl Edward Wagner, this is perfect reading for a dark and stormy night

Jim Laffoon hits the bullseye with this tremendous literary work. He nails down how the coming Revival of Apostolic Ministry and the Five-Fold Ministry will come to pass with his explanation of how apostles and prophets are to relate biblically. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking to line up scripturally as to be ready to recieve the coming restoration of the TRUE Church of God!

Some thing for everyone

Down Santa Claus Lane is a gentle meander along the Victorian by-ways of yester-year, crammed with lush reditions of Father Christmas in various guises. The charts are drawn from old art work sources such as post-cards and Christmas cards. The use of colour is imaginative and trouble has been taken to find many styles. In this book Santa comes in red, yellow, green, blue, and brown. Something for everyone. There are thirty different charts, each one easy to read and the finished stitchery is displayed in numerous ways, from straight forward framed pictures to cushions, pillows, and stockings. There is even a chart dedicated to baby's first Christmas, surely no doting grandma could resist the urge to stitch that one? As this is an American book there are a few all American Santas. This is a truely super book, well up to the house standard of Leisure Arts and one of my particular treasures.

Beautiful book includes many cross-stitch patterns of victorian and patriotic Santa's re-created from antique postcards. Projects include framed pictures, stocking, pillows, and ornaments. If you collect santa's or postcards you'll love this book.

This is a great book for sweethearts, soon to be married or young at heart. Older marrieds will see many things that will spur old memories of courtship and younger men and women will find some valuable tips about relationships. It is easy to get married but another story to STAY married. A humorous insight to life.

An excellent resource for married couples!

I read this refreshing, Biblically-based book straight through, and, at the end, was impressed with the number of things which related to me and to my wife. I believe it would be an excellent resource for anyone who is responsible for advising couples about to be married, or, indeed, for any married couple. There is something in this book for any married couple.

A "Must Read!" for U.S. Army historians and those interested

Review Date: 2000-05-10
This is a "must read" for anyone interested in the U.S. Army in the Empire or "Gilded Age," specifically and the U.S. Army's history in general. Professor Brereton has written an important book on one of the U.S.Army's principal thinkers and strategic analyst: Colonel Arthur L. Wagner, USMA 1875. Colonel Wagner was the author of several books on military training and strategic policy in the 19th Century. This book is important and timely since this is the centennial period of the successful U.S. campaigns in the Spanish-American War, Boxer Rebellion, and the Philippine-American War.

The book is editorially well-written, and easy to read. The book was thoroughly researched utilizing a wide range of primary and secondary sources. The book contains photographs and is well-bound.

This is an important, and the first, book on an important figure in U.S. Army strategic thinking who was a guiding force in the evolution of the small, continental 1898-U.S. Army into an imperial power that grew into our present U.S. Army. This book complements Dr. Graham Cosmas' An Army for Empire, Dr. Brian M. Linn's The Philippine-American War and The U.S. Army and Counter-Insurgency in the Philippine-American War.

The battles, historical figures, key events, and more
Helpful Votes: 2 out of 2 total.
Review Date: 2002-08-11
Very strongly recommended for both school and community library historical reference collections, Encyclopedia Of The Wars Of The Roses by historian and educator John A. Wagner is a thorough and informatively presented historical account of the grueling war of the fifteenth century between the House of York and the House of Lancaster that came to be known as the "War of the Roses". These were two factions of the British aristocracy who shed a great deal of blood in political intrigues and armed confrontations as they strove for the power to rule England. Entries are arranged in "user friendly" A-to-Z format giving detailed information on the battles, historical figures, key events, and more for a prolonged civil war that became a engaging subject for Shakespeare plays and Hollywood movies.

Arranged in an A to Z format, John Wagner's Encyclopedia Of The Wars Of The Roses is a superbly presented survey of the war that took place by rival factions for the English Throne in the second half of the 15th Century. The House of York fought against the House of Lancaster in a conflict that ebbed and flowed for ten decades before achieving a final resolution. Here are all the personalities, events, politics, issues, and battles that comprised this historic and often bloody conflict from the 1460 Act of Accord, Richard III, and Henry VI, to the 1461 Battle of Mortimer's Cross, the Neville-Percy Feud, and the Tower of London. John Wagner's Encyclopedia Of The Wars Of The Roses is an impressive, very highly recommended, single volume reference that covers the socioeconomic dimensions of the conflict as well as the military aspects of this era of English history.

Learning Spiritual Warfare

I found that Mr. Wagner's book is very helpful for me. I am involved, in my congregation, with spiritual warfare and found this book to have many helpful Scriptures for a basis but also working tools for the warfare that we are involved in. If you are wanting to know how to do battle with Satan's forces, this is a must have book.

I highly recommend this book

This is an excellent book and one of many resources I used for an elaborate paper I wrote on territorial spirits. I encourage you to prayerfully do a study on this subject. I assure you that territorial spirits are as real as a heart attack and clearly evident. Missionaries and evangelists throughout the world have witnessed the power of these demons and the tremendous results when their power is defeated by nothing other than prayer and intercession.

Peter Wagner does an excellent job giving you a complete textbook of teaching and real-life experiences in this book. Peter Wagner also emphasizes the need for balance in our prayer and study when it comes to the enemy. I have found Peter Wagner to be well-balanced and yet extremely informative and targeted.

I would also recommend reading all of his other books (almost all of which I have read) which are very informative and helpful for all of us. There is a battle raging and people are dying all around us. I encourage you to look at the real-life examples in this book and learn how the enemy operates. May the Lord bless your ministry!

I have owned this book for years and love it. I have used it time and again and always get compliments on anything I make from the recipes. I wanted to give this book as a gift and was glad to finally find it again, no I'm not getting paid to say this, I'm just a housewife who likes to make my own gifts and of all my cookbooks I use this one the most when I start making Christmas gifts... Try it you'll love it.

There are many books on the market that promise "different" gift ideas, but this one actually delivers! From simple recipes to more complex projects, there is something in here for every gift-giving occasion -- even April Fool's Day! I especially like the wonderful packaging suggestions, with all needed patterns and recipes included.
