Fascinating! Dynasty of country doctors in rural Mississippi from civil war times to early 1900s. I liked it because it's a very human story based on real people and real events.

This book has charming illustrations that my two year old loves. It shows a family of four going through their daily activities. I also love the beautiful images of the Mother breastfeeding her baby. This is a must have for Breastfeeding Moms and also would be a good way to show images of a baby to a small child expecting a sibling.

Billy Turner is a functional alcoholic. He has a good job with the Sports Dept of New Orleans's top newspaper. But his drinking gradually grew into a bottle a Canadian Club a day, leading to the loss of his wife and family. On his 42nd birthday he decided to change himself, checking into a detox unit and living a new life when he emerged. We follow his early life through flashbacks to the causes of his alcoholism: a drunken abusive father, painful shyness, lots of anger and fear. But AA has made him into a man of God, not just of a "Higher Power". Reading his story is a joy because a good guy wins! We follow his pleasure that comes from sobriety, new friends, a reunion with his family. The spiritual aspect of AA even leads to his becoming a licensed minister in a local Methodist Church. This is a powerful and an unlifting true story. If you know an alcoholic, or an addicted person, especially if the person is you or someone you care about, read it. Read it and live.

This is an excellent book about the history of the Orange County (CA) Sheriff's Department. Along with past accomplishments, it presents the department's acheivemets, recognizing both the elected Sheriffs, but also the men and women of the department whose efforts make their community a safet place to live. I highly recommend this book.

Was pleasantly surprised to find a book that actually contained useful information that I could put into practice right away. This book has dramatically improved my productiveness at work. It's written concisely with many useful worksheets and exercises that demonstrate the many helpful time management techniques.

Dr. Irons is a professor of history at Elon University in North Carolina, and as a student, I was lucky enough to have him. While my major is sports medicine, I essentially had to take a history class as part of the liberal arts curriculum. I thought that the course would be a breeze--memorize names and dates and regurgitate them on paper as I did in high school--but Irons challenged us to dig up the underlying themes in American history and explore and even question their very meaning. I am sure that his new book will be a wonder, and I will be one of the first to purchase it later this month.

A friend convinced me to read this book, and at first I was skeptical. It was a very interesting look into the life of someone outside of the mainstream, but strangely familiar to all those who thought they were "lost" at one time in their life. The insight of the author's own internal journey is an inspiration for others.

I enjoy the true insides of this book. It told about families in the U.S. which provide me with a real feeling of American Families. I also understand how the education system works only for a few families. I enjoy chapter 8 reading about, Critques of Books in the Collection. This is going to be helpful.

I bought this calendar for my boyfriend who is a huge Pamela Anderson fan. What a beautiful, voluptuous woman. Reminds me of the heroine in a new book that I read. Received an advance reader's copy of 1106 GRAND BOULEVARD, and the small Midwestern woman in the book is too beautiful for her own good. A wonderful read ... as this calendar is a wonderful "vew."

I tried to get another calendar for my brother, but they were all sold out. Darn!

The quintessential book for the parachute brevet collector. Long out of print, this tome is the bible of the collector. Published in 1979, it lacks many of the badges worn today, but is an excellent reference for obscure and obsolete items.
