This book is a recollection of various incidents occurring over the three decades long career of a big city street cop and
his close colleagues, told in the form of short stories based upon the daily event memo pad that police officers are required
to keep. Some of the tales are humorous, some are sad, but all are poignant.

Edward Turner was born about 1768, probably near Boston, a descendant of early settlers in the Plymouth Colony. In 1791, he
was commissioned an ensign in the U.S. Army, serving thereafter in New England as a paymaster and quartermaster, and being
promoted to captain in 1794, with supply duties on the frontier. Two years later, he was in command of a company at Ft. Fayette
(near Pittsburgh), accompanied by a new wife. In 1802, he found himself at Nashville, then Ft. Pickering, near the present
site of Memphis. By the following year, he was at Ft. Adams, Mississippi Territory, where he was summoned by Gov. William
C. C. Claiborne and told he was to be in charge of supplying the federal troops being moved to New Orleans following the Louisiana
Purchase. Claiborne continued the colonial Louisiana practice of having local military commanders serve also as civil administrators,
so when Turner was sent in April 1804 to establish an American military presence at the town of Natchitoches, he was to serve
also as the local head of government. When he was replaced a year later, Turner resigned his commission and was immediately
appointed Judge of Natchitoches County. He was later appointed the first postmaster as well, organized a local militia, and
carried out a census, in addition to acquiring and expanding plantation holdings in the area. His promising career in the
new state was cut short in 1811, however, by one of the periodic waves of malaria and he and his wife both were buried within
forty-eight hours. This biographical research was developed by Richard M. Lytle in the process of writing a master's thesis,
but the bulk of this volume consists of the unusually legible military records he uncovered at the National Archives and which
were transcribed by Womack, a well-known Louisiana genealogist with a deserved reputation for producing careful work. This
includes muster rolls and payrolls of Turner's Company for the period 1802-1805. Some of the men listed were part of the unit
at Nashville and at Ft. Adams, while others joined in New Orleans and in Natchitoches itself. Some of them also were discharged
there and may well have descendants in northwest Louisiana.

Very thought provoking. Makes you look inside yourself to take a true measure of your relationship with God. Reminded me of
Paul's command "Examine yourselves to see if you are in the faith". Excellent reading.

This book is exactly what I was looking for. I have had sploshing fantasies for years now. I have never given in and bought
any of the magazines or "movies" out there... I usually just look at pix on the net. But this book is fabulous! It's so colorful
and every page has a girl full of mess on her. Charles Gatewood is the master of food fetish / sploshing photography... I
can't imagine it getting much better than this.

I used this book in a series for Summer Spanish Reading Program. The students and parents both commented on how much they
enjoyed this one. My Spanish I students (they had completed Spanish 1) were able to muddle through it, and my Spanish 2 students
had very few problems. I do wish they had a glossary in this one as they do with the Level 1 books.
I would say this is appropriate for ages 14 and up.
All in all, a great little extra book to add on to any Spanish curriculum after Spanish 1. I'll be using it again.

This book is excellent. I encourage every First Lady, leading lady, woman of God to buy (it's worth putting in your library)
and read The Ministry & Myth of the First Lady. It is very encouraging and challenging. The author highlights holiness, integrity,
character and submission. He is very transparent and real in his writing. He defines the office of a First Lady and the importance
of her role in the church. He offers practical information and guidelines that are easy to understand and follow. I am also
amazed and humbled at his wife's Elect Lady Darlyn C. Turner's maturity and humility in supporting Apostle Turner's decision
to dedicate this book to the memory of his first wife and her former First Lady Co-pastor Denise M. Turner and to use Co-pastor
Denise as a First Lady model throughout the book. This decision of Elect Lady Darlyn C. Turner exemplifies some of the characteristics
that Apostle Turner covers in his book. I am waiting for a book about how a Pastor should pastor his First Lady (wife) and
children. Is it different from pastoring a congregation?

I've been a Braves fan since 1977, and the 1991 season still stands as the greatest rush I've ever experienced. From nine
back at the All-Star break, the Braves put on a pennant race for the ages. When it was over, they had outlasted the Dodgers
by one game.
So they went up against the now two-time NL East champs, the Pirates. Trailing three games to two, they went back to Pittsburgh and not only beat them - they didn't even allow them to score!!! 21-year old Steve Avery and 24-year old John Smoltz - the only Brave still with the team in 2005 - made believers of all of baseball.
And then came the greatest World Series in history.
Still.
I only hate how it ended - and I can't blame that one on Rosenberg. Enjoy the book.
