I would agree heartily with the poster of this review, having read the book myself. The author, who is truly just "God's little pencil" has written a book that I believe contains something for everyone. Education is truly the key to enlighten a civilization and it is easy to look around and see that this world is in great need of enlightenment. All who are committed to enlightment, are committed to education; is what it truly boils down to. This book is for all you freedom-fighters, dreamers, and those who would change the world, not to mention those in the field of Education. It is education we must have for "A Thrust of Light" that will dispel the darkness of ignorance which is at the root of mankind's every problem. "Thrust of Light: An Education Manifesto" shows the way to achieve a higher form of education and is for all parents, teachers, and all those who wish to BE the change they want to see in this world.

An inspiring, noble work on how to improve education as the foundation for a better society and the bringing in of an age of enlightenment. The author has the courage to expose the unacceptable, the wisdom to illumine about a higher way and a true love of children, their nurturance and undfoldment, so they can be the balanced individuals they were meant to be, beings of kindness who know themselves and who therefore can rise into the future honerable leaders of a higher civilization of peace, progress and joy.

I bought two of these books. One for my wife (and me too) and one for my best friend's familt that goes to San Jose Sharks games with us. My wife is already quoting things I didn't know. The other family loves it as well. Plus it's compact, so you can stick it in your back pocket and bring it to the game or have it on the coffee table next to the TV watching the game. Great book.

The perfect gift!

I bought this book for my 9-year old son who is really getting into hockey this year. This book is absolutely terrific and is a must have for the casual or the serious hockey fan.

I love this book and would give it to anyone who is interested in hockey.
I didn't really know much about hockey until this year when I decided to find out why my husband liked it so much, what's the big deal? The action is pretty exciting, althought I'm not into the fighting. So my husband gave me this book so I could look up all sorts of things about the game. What's a hat trick? or icing? There's a rink diagram showing what the different lines mean and areas on the ice. I even stumped my husband with some trivia about awards.
This book lives on my coffee table.

poems passionate and haunting

Review Date: 2005-11-03
This is an exceptional collection of poems that are highly personal yet universal in appeal. Recurring themes include both the pain and the intoxication of love, longing, regret, and passion without outlet. But there is optimism and joy here also. This gives the poems a special poignancy.

One of the most extraordinary aspects of the work is the bilingual feature. I believe that Spanish lends itself to communicating passion in a way that English cannot. Nevertheless, the poems work beautifully in English also. The English versions are not merely translations, but works of art in their own right.

Regardless of subject, each poem has an intensity that makes it linger in your memory. The images and emotions are so strong that often the last line of a poem will send a chill up your spine. Clearly, this is the work of someone who feels deeply and has the talent to communicate those feelings.

Having had the pleasure of reading other award-winning poetry by Marie Delgado Travis I find 'Anochecer,Nightfall: Bilingual Poetry' her best work to date. The translation of each poem shows instinctive appeal and carries true depth into the translated language. This collection has expressed cultural imprints, emotional content and ambiguities within Marie Travis'specific style.

A world apart

This book is a wonderful description of how the Seichelles were 50 years ago. It tells the ultimate (real) adventure of a man who had the strenght to change completely his life, and decided to live remote somewhere in the Indian Ocean. This is a story which will carry You in a world apart, and that it will not be any more. It makes you think of what and how much we have lost in our day after day rat race.
Read and escape for a while. Buy as many copies as You can and make it read to your children before it is too late for them.

Pure brilliance in a paperback.

This book is an absolute blinder. For any body like myself who is interested in diving or travel it will enthraul, for anybody else just the mere excitement of the story and the histerical situations a bunch of half naked Sechelian men and one very confused westerner can get into will keep you on the edge of your seat throughout. You may be interested to know that "Beyond The Reefs" is infact a double book, also containing my favourite of his "Sharks For Sale". Some of the things in here like being puled along side a hooked 30 foot female great white have to be read to be believed. As I said this book is fantastic and if youv'e ever read something like the beach then this is sure if only superficialy to appeal. ORDER A COPY NOW! INFACT ORDER TWO OR THREE!

Two stories of ultimate military power and erotic subjugation.
Aaron Travis weaves two erotic stories of bdsm.
We have a very cruel dominant. Something Travis is good at writing about!

An absolute mind blower! I bought this book almost by accident and have read it so often it has literally fallen apart. It is two stories, both dark and sexy and reading like two chapters of the same story. A young sexy sub male is dominated by Vince Zorio, a cruel unforgiving dominant. All types of scenes are enacted. Not for the faint hearted -possibly offensive to some. Travis uses the phrase hyperthermic to describe the heated way his prose bulds and lifts off.
Some amazing scenes which you will re-read again and again.
Youe won't find romance or cuddles here.

The Bomber Boys (True Stories of B-17 Airmen) by Travis L. Ayers is a highly readable collection of vividly rendered stories. Each of Ayers' subjects was thoroughly researched; much of the information is actual, first-hand accounting of the events described. You don't have to be a World War II enthusiast to enjoy this book, or to be moved by it. The young crewmen who manned the B-17's were American kids from every concievable background; their survival depended on their unity, as well as a great deal of blind luck. Even taken as fiction, these are wonderful stories. But they are not fiction. They are absolutely, 100% true, amazing, and fascinating.

very affordable bible of all of today's most in demand skills

As an IT consultant, I found this book an indispensable guide for anyone who needs to quickly familiarize themselves with a new language/technology. While you might think that a single book covering 20 technologies is an overly ambitious scope, it is in fact the brevity of each topic that is this book's strength. The book assumes that the reader is well versed in some technologies and computers in general and then cuts right to the heart of each specific skill-set. Rather than 20 books of 300-500 pages each, this book summarizes the basic framework and essential knowledge required to quickly become productive in some of the most widely used techonolgies. I've often found myself wishing I could just get a "Cliffs Notes" version of many of the 5 pound books I end up needing to read quickly for work - this is finally it.

An Excellent Survival Guide for the Technology Professional.

This book is a wonderful companion and reference guide for many of the programming languages a technology professional might encounter.

Each programming language is broken into a chapter and begins with a short synopsis of the language, a few facts (which serve as excellent reminders of a languages essential characteristic), and a short program with an explanation of what each line means.

Reading this book won't make you a subject matter expert in any one of the programming languages it covers. However, the book is an excellent reference tool that will help you understand the basics of many programming languages and help you remember the syntax and structure of a language you haven't used recently or are only vaguely familiar with.

The Swiss army knife approach taken by the author's to cover as many languages as possible is done quite well, making this book a bible for any technology consultant.

Cognitive Evolution is an important book. It is not an easy read; but, if this theory is correct and is applied, lagging educational systems and stagnant communities across the globe can be revolutionized within a decade.

There are a number of controversial conclusions about the nature of intelligence in the book. Its premise, however, that all Homo sapiens theoretically inherit the same brain capacities and that human equality explains unequal human demonstrations is cerebrally stretching. This is a must read.

I cannot imagine anyone interested in the workings of the human brain not finding this book compelling. This non fiction book goes where no mind/brain book that I have read has gone before. The theory of Cognitive Evolution proposes that in the process of inventing itself, the brain engineered the creation of Homo sapiens. From a first reading the implication is that this process can be traced back to g loaded big bang particles. I plan to reread this book during my holiday vacation.
I have recommended it to a number of my colleagues and intend to give it to several friends as Hanukah and Christmas presents.

If you think you know about BOOGERS... you're wrong!!!!
I never knew there could be such interesting facts about a simple thing in the world... a booger.

This book teaches the many prospects of simulating a anthrostogical elucidation of the anatomy of a booger. BINGO!!

Picking your nose is not just a hobby, it's a career and very active sport. We booger enthusiests from the Institute of Boogerology call this sport of dried nasal mucus: Schnozzolaproboscisadenoids (Sha-noz-ola-prob-o-sciz-i-den-oids)

In denouement, always remember to eat your boogies fresh. Also, never judge a book by it's cover. LUDICRIS, I KNOW!!

Even if I didn't have the good fortune of knowing Barbara Kaster as "Aunt B," I still would have enjoyed this fantastic book. I was immediately engaged in the story and had a hard time putting it down. Consuela Travis is the story's noble protagonist who proves not only to be a brutally honest, highly moral attorney, but also a tireless crusader for both friendship and justice. I hope there is more of Consuela Travis to come, for she is an inspiring character. Kudos to Aunt B for this brilliant, well-crafted effort. You would never know that this is her first novel. We want more!!
