Compared to other Radiobiology books, this one is easier to understand and reads more like a novel. I highly recommend this book for an introduction into medical radiobiology. I used this book while studying Rad Therapy and found it to be an excellent reference book while studying medical dosimetry.

The best research resource on the subject.

I am planning a doctoral research on the family experiences of long-term incarceration and this book has given me a thorough and timely review of the key studies and issues (in American context), and also pointed out knowledge gaps for further research. I look forward to reading other publications with a more international or cross-cultural perspective. A "must-read" for those seriously concerned with prisoners and their families.

Sara and Ethan met in their youth and formed a strong bond but something held them back from sharing a life together. As Sara plans her wedding to a another man she cannot help but recall feelings for Ethan. Across the country he is also trying to find her. This is the second book I have read by Travis Thrasher and he did not disappoint me. In fact not only was it an enjoyable, believable read it led me back to some people and some things I had been neglecting over the last few years of my life. Just Wonderful.

Refreshing, Rewarding, and Shareable

Often titles fail to convey the heart of a book, but Travis Thrasher repeatedly demonstrates a gift of tying his works with their compelling titles. The audience Travis draws will not be bound by gender, age or religion. Travis creatively explores relationships of parent/child, friends/lovers, students/mentors, death and dying, and hope realized in faith. Travis artfully pulls you into, not only a story, but the lives of his characters in their struggles, dedications, and triumphs. Sharing this book with others is a pleasure.

Enriching stories about Blacks who have overcome racism
Helpful Votes: 1 out of 2 total.
Review Date: 1998-03-04
I found this book enriching as it tells several stories of how African Americans succeeded despite the obstacle of racism. The book is well done and quite educational, espicially for whites and younger African Americans whom may not be aware of how deep institutional racism penetrated the daily lives of most Blacks in past (and in some cases current) generations. I highly recommend it.

"..an excellent introductory text on this subject..."

The following review of this text was published in Health Sciences Supplement, May 1998.

"This textbook on radiation protection in diagnostic radiology covers x-ray production, x-ray interaction with matter, basic radiation biology, technques to reduce patient and personnel dose, and image quality. In addition, the book provides an overview of radiation protection organizations and their functions and safety issues in MRI. It is intended to be a text for an introductory course on radiation protection in diagnostic radiology, and to provide an overview of radiation protection issues. In my opinion, the book well meets these objectives. Although the material covered in the is not new, it is current and organizes in a single text useful information. This book will be an excellent supplementary text for a course in physics of radiology usually given to technologists or as a text for independent course in radiation protection in diagnostic radiology. Figures, tables, and illustrations are well done and with the right balance. The references are adequate and refer the reader to authoritative and readily available texts. A unique and useful feature is the statement of the objectives at the beginning of each chapter. Also included are self-assessment questions at the end of each chapter. It also provides the reader with a good overview of radiation protection organizations. The book would be an excellent introductory text on this subject for radiologic technologists"

A Minnesota favorite!

This book is a favorite of mine. When I opened it and saw John Other Day on the first page, I knew I was hooked. I grew up on the farm land once owned by this man. The story has many Minnesota landmarks and realistic events mentioned. It's a very good Minnesota Historical Fiction book. It briefly includes the Sioux Uprising and Civil War. It also deals with sensitive areas of abuse and being an orphan. I highly recommend this book and I think it sparks an interest in looking further into the history of Minnesota.

I read this book in one sitting. The author doesn't tell you how to sell or how to fish, but makes you think and come to your own conclusions. Very interesting! He seems to be a "there are reasons for failure but no excuses!" kind of manager. I recommend this book to any sales professional, as inspiration. I know that I rethought my sales strategy after reading this.
