I have read it twice and I cannot count how many times my wife has read it.

If you are familiar with this song and realize that it was written by Mark Lowry then having this book also written by him and him performing the song is just great. He puts as much thought in this book as is in the song. They go hand in hand.

The words to this song is the story of the real Christmas. Such a talented man is Mark Lowry. I understand that it is the only song he ever wrote...with one like this one, who needs another one!

I bought this for myself and then went back and ordered more for Christmas gifts. Everyone who received it has commented on the story and the music. It is also a special treat for me to listen to every Christmas season. I just love it.

This CD and book is THE most beautiful and meaningful gift I've ever received. My husband heard the song on the radio and went searching for it at music store where he found the Mark Lowry book/CD. I couldn't stop crying the first time I heard it. To read the birth of Christ through the eyes of His mother, the most Holy Theotokos, brings a new perspective to this great and holy holiday. I encourage everyone reading this review to purchase one for yourself and one for someone you love.

I appreciate having the 3 books in one. I also appreciate the large font type of the books, although I am young, I often read in dim light (when babies are sleeping) and the large font really makes it easier. The books are excellent reading. Biblical leadership perspective that really is so practical for all leaders at all stages.

I have never read a book that uplifting, when I am on my worst moments for that day I pick up that book and it takes me some where else, even takes me to the bible to look up motivational readings. It has trully changed my way of thinking. I love it.

Minor Emergences is making the rounds as the resource to have in the remote field. I'm a medic that works in isolated camps or offshore vessels with the closest MD available only via phone or email. Sometimes evacuating a patient to a higher level of care is not an easy thing to do or even a possibility. Being able to take care of minor problems and recognizing when you cannot is always a consideration. While no book or manual could possibly take the place of adequate training it sure is nice to have such a wealth of knowledge close at hand.

Minor Emergencies - Splinters to Fractures is more than worth having to pack its weight around and has a permanent place in my very limited traveling library.

Great book to have in the urgent care clinic. Enough detail to do remind how to do basic procedures, and with lists of things to consider for most problems that walk in the door

I used the first edition of this book while working in a busy urgent care center. As a point of care reference, it is a true godsend. The information is based on the authors' real-world experience and presented in a straight forward manner. The reader is not overwhelmed with detail. The clear, informative illustrations greatly enhanced the utility of this text. As a student rotating through the ED, on more than one occasion I impressed my clinical instructors with knowledge gained through this book.

I am a family nurse practitioner, and own (and use) a copy of this book. I think that every urgent care and clinic could use one of these references. No theory, just straight forward, flip-through and get the practical info you need. If you want the theory/research, check out the book's reference articles in your two seconds of spare time. A-plus!

I have just graduated residency and started working at an urgent care center, and this book has many times come in handy to try to catch the many common complaints that slip through the cracks of residency education. Along with telling you what to do, the book also tells you what NOT to do...or what to look for. I use it almost daily!

I enjoyed this book very much!! The first story was amazing and the second book picked up right where the first one left off. Elizabeth is sent by Washington to continue spying among the British. Jon on the other hand is sent into indian territory to try to convince the indians that Wasington needed them. Jon was captured and became a slave. Elizabeth has no idea if he is dead or alive. The only problem I had with this book was the fact that I now have to wait so long to find out what happens. A must read and a tender story.

Native Son is the second book in author J.M. Hochstetler's The American Patriot Series, and is every bit as magnificently composed as the first. Picking up where Daughter of Liberty left off, Native Son reprises the suspenseful setting and believable characters of book one and indelibly seals the heart of the reader to the author's work.

With Patriot's identity exposed and a huge price on his head, he is no longer of any use to the Revolutionaries as a spy--but his previous experience living with a tribe of Native Americans qualifies him for an even more dangerous assignment. Oriole, however, has not yet been exposed and therefore must remain behind to continue gathering intelligence for General Washington and his troops. The intertwining of these two stories keeps readers riveted to their seats from the first page to the last--and anxiously awaiting book three.

J. M. Hochstetler's second book in the American Patriot Series, Native Son, draws readers into the compelling first chapter. Brigadier General Jonathan Carleton meets with George Washington to discuss the patriot troops' readiness for war against trained British soldiers.

Native Son holds as much historical detail as the first book in the series, Daughter of Liberty. However, Hochstetler's clear writing and obvious research make both books intriguing reads. The detail in the medical scenes is exquisite and gave me an eye-opening understanding of Revolutionary War-era amputation and medical care. Fascinating details also enhance the scenes in which the Mohawks hold Carleton prisoner and in later scenes when he lives with the Delaware Indians.

Although Carleton and Elizabeth spend most of the book separated by many miles and different cultures, the strength of both characters easily carries the book. For fans of historicals, this series is a must. Watch for Hochstetler's third book in the American Patriot series.

Native Son, the second book of The American Patriot Series by J.M. Hochstetler, continues the saga of Brigadier General Jonathan Carleton and the woman who has stolen his heart, Elizabeth Howard. Each has pledged allegiance to General George Washington. Elizabeth's spy mission sends her gathering information among the Loyalists, while Jonathan's orders send him deep into Indian territory. After Jonathon is sent to Indian territory, Elizabeth ends up in Boston. With wars of all levels--spiritual, emotional, and physical-- pressing on them, we feel the anguish they must endure. Rumors circulate and both characters must pretend they care nothing for the other. The story is set in 1775, and the reader is immediately folded into the setting, riding along enjoying every bump and bruise. Even when Carleton is captured, the reader hopes all will be well, although chances are pretty much against that.

I read Daughter of Liberty a year ago and thought J. M. Hochstetler brought American history to life in that book. I hoped at the time she'd write a novel about every major battle in the American Revolution. I got my wish in Native Son, but not quite the way I expected.

Hochstetler introduced me to a fascinating aspect of the revolution here and I'd say more except I don't want to give away too much of the first book. If you haven't read that book, I highly recommend you read the series in order.
I loved the glimpse into the lives of George Washington as he built his guerrilla forces into a fighting army, and the names and actions of the factual British Generals, intermixed with the fictionalized daring of our heroes.
Fiction like this is a great, fun way to teach history.

Dr. Missler's years of experience in our country's military and business worlds, have given this book the background to tie together what is happening in the world today with the prophesies foretold in Daniel, Isaiah, Amos, Ezekiel, Zechariah, and all over the New Testament by Christ. He details the differences between the first fall of Jerusalem, the coming war of Armageddon, and the final battle. Phenomenally appended by a wealth of information from the sciences, as well as historical manuscripts and present day governmental studies. It helps one to see the entire picture of us and the world's future, instead of just the little corner we are presently residing in.

My wife bought this book for me. I'll admit I had never heard of this author before she bought this book. It is definitely well worth reading; Chuck Missler is thoroughly knowledgeable in Bible prophecy and current events. He also encourages the reader to look at his website as well. Some of the material presented in the book might be over some peoples' heads but all in all, this is one book I highly recommend.

This is an excellent read for both, a novice regarding Bible prophecy, or someone more knowledgeable. It is not as detailed as Chuck's Bible studies from [...], but there are many scripture references to keep you very busy. Overall, I thought it was one of the best books to learn about Bible prophecy outside of the Bible itself. Also, I think this would make an excellent book for any non-believer with strong curiosity.

Chuck demonstrates the uniqueness of the Jewish and Christian scriptures as God's fingerprint to the authenticity of His Word through the Bible, as well as who the God of the Bible claims to be. He references many fulfilled prophecies given to humanity as verifiable evidence today of 100% accurate predictions of future events told by Jewish prophets hundreds and even, thousands of years in advance, gives us absolute hope and confidence that other unfulfilled prophecies will be coming true in the near future.

Be watchful so His coming does not surprise you as a thief in the night (1 Thes 5:1-11, Luke 12:38-40, Luke 21:36, Rev 16:15); these are truly the last of days (Matt 24, Luke 21, Mark 13, 2 Thes 1:8-10, Zechariah 12 & 14, Ezek 36 - 39, Dan 9 & 12, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Psalm, and Rev).

I am by no means a prophecy expert. I have read a few books on the subject though, and this is by far my favorite. I really like the way Dr Missler insists you don't take his word for it and do your own research; which I did many times. I HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone interested in the subject matter. I do wish the footnotes were at the bottom of the pages instead of the back to make referencing much easier. Because the footnotes are in the back, I wish the chapter numbers were at the top of each page. Other than that, if you are even remotely interested in biblical prophecy, you really need to check out this book.

Great book. I have become a big fan of Missler and this book is the main reason. You can't stop reading it and I wished it were longer. Write another Chuck.

Along with Moo, get this commentary! Schreiner is so solid and scholarly. I also have his work on 1,2Peter and Jude in the NAC. This NT scholar is so good.

His approach to scholarship reminds me of Dr. Moo. Both are really good. Schreiner does his own translation, and for me that is what makes this commentary so outstanding. If you appreciate adeptness in NT Greek, you'll appreciate this volume. But at the same time, Schreiner makes this simple enough for the person who doesn't understand NT Greek to get by.

This should be in every pastor's and anyone who's looking for the best work on Romans collection. Get this one!

This is a very good commentary on Romans. It is very well written and is clear and easy to understand. Great Reference material that can be used for years to come.

As someone who has done extensive work in Romans and is NOT a Calvinist, I have found Schreiner's volume to be the best all around commentary on Romans (not the best commentary on any book, however, as that would go to Schnackenberg's 3 volumes on John). He covers what you need to teach and to preach through the book.

While knowing Greek will certainly help one follow the author's arguments, he makes it easy enough to move past difficult material and get to the heart of the matter. Moo has a tendency to list multiple options and then pick one when it is unnecessary to list all the options due to a choice being obvious or else he does not list options at all when the choice is difficult. Schreiner avoids that problem by correctly majoring on the majors and minoring on the minors (with the exception of some issues at the end of Romans 8).

For Schreiner, this is certainly a step above his previous work and is much more readable than his book on Paul. The only Romans commentary I would rank ahead of this one is the incredible two volumes in the ICC by Cranfield, which is certainly not a series for those who do not know their languages.

Schreiner's Commentary is an excellent work when studying the book of Romans. Amazingly, he manages to retain a contemporary edge on such a difficult book of the Bible. His technical prowess comes forward as he examines significant words in the Greek and helps the reader to explore for the correct understanding. This work coupled with Douglas Moo's commentary on Romans are powerful technical resources for any pastor or theology student.

Schreiner's work is one of the most celebrated commentaries on Romans today. Schreiner's interaction with the Greek text and scholars alike is quite impressive. The author shows familiarity with Second temple literature as well. The work reflects the author's best achievement (See his theology of of paul, Paul, Apostle of God's glory in Christ). This is a commentary that seeks to be faithful to Scripture and ultimately celebrates the glory, majesty and excellency of Christ in the book of Romans.

This book will really help you know and understand the different types of worship that people experience. Like the "love languages" many have learned about, I would say this explains the various "worship languages".

This book is valuable in both self discovery and in communicating with other Christians. When speaking with others they give clues to their dominate pathways thus, an insight of where they are 'coming from'.

If you are trying to find a way to connect better with God, then this little guide may point you in the right direction.

Thomas provides a keen analysis of the various pathways we use to relate to God. He also provides insights that all believers need if they are to be tolerant of other peoples pathways. This is a much needed resource for those experiencing a disconnect due to changing worship styles. Traditionalists can better understand those desiring a contemporary experience and "Contemporaries" would be well-served to seek understanding of the validity of the traditionalist's preferences.

Having already read Thomas' "Sacred Marriage," I had extremely high expectations for this book, and I would say that they were largely met. Gary Thomas manages to write in a style that is both intellectual and personal, challenging the reader to ponder at a deeper level than many Christian books while never allowing his style to seem distant or arrogant. It's a tricky balance, but Thomas manages to strike that balance.

"Sacred Pathways" sets out to establish the reality that Christians do not naturally connect to God in identical ways and that this is not only acceptable but part of God's plan. It's the type of message that many of us need to hear, as we play the dangerous game of comparing our spirituality to other esteemed believers and realizing that we don't measure up to them. Thomas instructs us to consider that we are not meant to try to mirror anyone else's walk with God. Rather, we need to identify how we have been created and head down that "sacred pathway" with all diligence to "cultivate and grow" our relationship with God.

Thomas managed to tell very personal stories from his own life about every one of the nine sacred pathways, while managing to explain which ones came more or less naturally for him. This articulates the crucial point that though we may be bent toward one pathway more so than another, none of us have the right to ignore any of these sacred pathways as somehow irrelevant in our lives.

One particularly commendable component of Thomas' writing is his respect for the history of the church, and he constantly refers to our spiritual predecessors to gather their thoughts from the past centuries on so many different topics. What a refreshing approach to contemporary Christian writing! How much richer would the spiritual vitality of the church be if we were able to better learn from the past two thousand years of collective wisdom and experience?

I look forward to reading more of Gary Thomas' books. I would recommend "Sacred Pathways" to any Christian interested in learning more about the diverse ways that God has created us to seek after Him.

Anyone who has read Tom Ogren's book "Allergy Free Gardening" knows it is the bible of all allergy books. I recommend this book just as highly -- Ogren's scientific, common-sense approach to allergies is something that will benefit anyone with allergies, and anyone who has friends or relatives with allergies. I very highly recommend both of these books!!

Safe Sex in the Garden should be required reading for anybody that is in any way involved with making decisions on what plants will be part of both our public and private spaces. Statistics only confirm how pervasive allergies are in the Los Angeles area and the toll this condition takes on the quality of our daily lives and work. I wish for full disclosure from plant growers regarding the potential health impact of the supposed convenience of this cultivars and more widespread knowledge on what company each plant should keep. Thank you. This book could improve the lives of many of us.

Tom Ogren's new book is a popular commentary on and addition to his first, groundbreaking book, Allergy Free Gardening. It is meant for both experienced and novice gardeners, and for all who may have a plant-related allergy. It is highly informative, and written with humor and style. Do get a copy for all of your favorite gardeners!

You have to love a book with a title like this. You might think a book about allergies and plant sex would be dull, but Ogren's writing style is lively and he knows how to convey information in a fun way. I wish he'd been my science teacher in high school! Everyone who's thinking about doing some landscaping, or has allergies, should read this. I know it's made me think more carefully about what I plant.

This and Ogren's previous book, "Allergy-Free Gardening" should be on everyone's shelf, whether they garden or not. If you want to know why allergy incidence has quadrupled in the last few decades and asthma deaths have reach alarming numbers, this book explains it. Ogren's OPALS ranking scale can help us choose appropriate trees for our own gardens, plus he gives lists of recommended ground covers, poisonous plants, "super trees" and discusses pet allergies and all sorts of other relevant topics.

The book is well-written and easy to understand, even when your sinuses are clogged and your eyes are running.

Gina Buonaguro and Janice Kirk have written such a deep, touching story in "The Sidewalk Artist". It is so poetic, it brings tears to this reader's eyes. The book presents the life story of a Renaissance artist into the modern world where a young tourist named Tulia meets and is instantly inrigued with a sidewalk artist and finds herself falling in love. Their tale intermingles with the book Tulia is attempting to write during her travels through France and Italy. Slowly, the truth begins to reveal itself about the artist and the secret he hides. Everyone who has a romantic bone in his or her body should not miss this one!

If you have ever been to Paris or Italy or have an interest in art, or if you are a romantic, this is the book for you. I enjoyed it very much. Such a novel plot and so well done. You cheer for the heroine and the ending is bittersweet.

Whenever I hear a book labeled a "romance", I instantly think of bodice rippers. As I am not a fan of this genre, attaching "romance" to a book makes me wary and that's too bad, as I love a really well done romance. Fortunately, there are books like this that prove that romance can be a very literary topic.

Tulia Rose heads off to Europe for some time away from what has become a fractured relationship. She's a woman who seems to be standing still in her life. Though she is happy with her job, the pay is low and there is no real opportunity to go any further than where she is. The aforementioned relationship is with a man who makes a great deal of money and so one of the central conflicts here is not only the slow death of their romance but also the more practical question of how Tulia is to survive if she is to go it alone. This is a complex issue and one that undoubtedly leads many people to stay with partners with whom they are really ill suited. I thought the authors handled this particular plot thread in a thoughtful manner.

While in Europe, Tulia meets a very mysterious sidewalk artist who causes her to drastically change her plans. Though he is sensitive and handsome and though Tulia finds herself drawn to him, he is also rather cagey and her reaction to his reticence is very realistic. She finds herself having to choose between what her heart and her head are telling her. Though she finds herself falling for him, her growing feelings for him are tempered by periodic bursts of uncertainty as to whether he is sincere and even whether he could, in fact, be dangerous. Really, all love is like this in that we must all ultimately make a choice as to whether or not we will allow ourselves to become vulnerable enough to care for someone. Tulia wants to believe in love but has found herself disappointed in the past and so while her caution is certainly advisable, it also says a lot about how she has been hurt in the past.

Woven within Tulia's story is a fictional account of the artist Raphael and the woman he loved, which Tulia writes after the story comes to her in bits and pieces during dreams. His is a cautionary tale about taking love for granted rather than seizing every opportunity for happiness. The more Tulia writes the tale, the more unsettling it becomes because it seems so vivid to her. It is here that the mystical elements of the novel come into play and Buonaguro and Kirk have created a book that has fantastical elements that are so sensitively written that, however implausible, they don't seem silly.

Charles Stanley is brilliant. I've read and heard so much from this man I can't properly review this book (borrowed last year) ... and his stuff blurs together for me. He talks about his life, tough childhood, and struggles ... he has a knack at meeting people where they are and giving spot on strength. Such a godly man he might freak you out if you are not ready for him. He was divorced. He keeps stuff real. This book helped me after I left my husband. I had little strength, fears, stress...this man helped greatly. Now I listen to him every morning without fail...and I LOVE music, but he gets me to flip over.

This book was recommended to me by an individual I trust. Alot of the book was not relevant to me and my situation, but I'm glad I read the entire book. It was a relatively easy read and quite inspirational!

This book was amazing. Charles Stanley points out who the source of our strenth is when we are in financial trouble, spiritual trouble, physical trouble, or whatever. He gives us point by point instructions on getting through the pain we are facing. When we are in a tough situation, hurting deeply or whatever, this book will teach us to rely on the power of Jesus Christ to heal our feeble and broken hearts!!! Get this book, and it will have an impact on your life today!!!!!!!!!

In tragedy we need to know what the source of our strength is.
When I lost someone I loved I needed to remember that Christ is the Source of my strength. Thank you Charles Stanley for your guidance and for sharing your knowledge of the word.

this book was awesome. Charles Stanley is really compassionate in this book. He goes through different types of emotional pain and really delves into the Scriptures to bring healing to those who are in pain. It's so highly recommended! Get it!
