Escape from North KoreaReview Date: 2007-04-21
His book is superbly researched and a darn good read of the Forgotten War and the path which lead to it. His personal experience being a soldier in Korea and surviving the conflict gives great credit to him as a man, and his narrative about how he escaped from North Korea is almost beyond description, and should be a must read for anyone who enters the US Military Service. Hope to see future writings by Paul Petredis.

THE ETERNAL FLAME (THE GREAT TREE OF AVALON, BOOK 3)Review Date: 2007-02-11
The story keeps you turning page after page with anticipation to discover just what will happen next to each character. Their adventures are spellbinding, gripping, and exciting and filled with vibrant descriptions of the characters, scenery and emotions. To truly appreciate the third book in this trilogy reading the first two, CHILD OF THE DARK PROPHECY (The Great Tree of Avalon, Book 1) SHADOWS ON THE STARS (The Great Tree of Avalon, Book 2) will provide a greater insight overall. Also reading T. A. Barron's MERLIN SERIES will enrich your total reading experience.
After this novel, I sincerely hope that T. A. Barron expands and writes an Arthurian series about Merlin and the rest of the earthbound characters from these novels. I'm sure this author could lend some new twists and turns to an old tradtional favorite!
Spellbinding adventureReview Date: 2006-11-29
Fans of the Trilogy "The Great Tree of Avalon" have been eagerly awaiting the final installment. They need wait no longer for only their imaginations could have prepared them for the newest adventure in "The Eternal Flame." Now that the conquest of Avalon "the world between all worlds" is at hand, the next step is to conquer Earth.
Eli and Nuic know the crystal must be destroyed. They head to the Lost City on their mission. Elves, humans, eaglefolk, and tree spirits must form an alliance to do battle against Rhita Gawr and his ogres, trolls, and immortal dragons. This is a battle between good and evil; it's gory, brutal, and fierce.
This book has it all -- action, adventure, and humor. Reading this book becomes an adventure in itself. You almost feel as though you are there in the midst of the action. The characters jump off the page and lead you through the battle to save earth. The cover is perfect for this book. It hints at dark secrets inside. The print is a nice size. This book is well written; however it was a little difficult to read without having read the first two books, which I intend to do. I foresee a revisit to Avalon in the future. I recommend "The Eternal Flame" to those that enjoy fantasy and science fiction.
A Great Ending, to A Great TrilogyReview Date: 2006-12-05
This book is the best in the trilogy in my opinion. It excellently wraps together all of the main storylines, as well as a few other minor storylines that are less important. There are no plot holes, as far as I can tell, and everything is perfectly wrapped together. This final chapter of the trilogy also has many more twists and turns, and unexpected surprises than the other two. Along with being a very complete novel, this book is also very well written. There are no unimportant characters. Every character in the entire book has a significant part to play. Each character also has their own personality, which other authors often fail to do. This book is also very imaginative. The names of the made-up lands, are very believable and well thought up. The entire book is extremely descriptive, and as a whole, paints a very good picture of the land of Avalon. There is not a single vague scenario in the entire book.
This is a hard book to just pick up and start reading. The reason for that is that this is the last book in a trilogy, which is a spin off of a previous five book series. It would be very advisable to read the initial Lost Years of Merlin series, before reading this trilogy. Although it is possible to pick up in the middle, it is hard, and you will more than likely find yourself lost. This book is also listed as a children's book, but it is by no means. Although this book is described to be for a younger audience, there is nothing childish about it. This book contains everything a good epic/ fantasy story should have. It has a good plot, descriptive battle scenes, a very good description of the land, and older characters. This isn't just another story of kids going off to save the world. There is much more detail to this, and for that reason, it is really readable by anyone.

Innocence and MurderReview Date: 2007-11-15
This book made me want to visit WalesReview Date: 2004-08-25
This is the second book in the series -- I'm reading them in order -- and I think I liked it better than the first. I thought at first I had everything all figured out, and was disappointed, but as it turned out, I wasn't even close. That's a great mystery. Add to that a wonderful world you enter when you read this book...
The plot involves a summer resident (a retired Colonel living on a pension who comes to this tiny village in Wales every year for a holiday) who is found dead right after he's discovered some ruins. The local constable, Evan Evans, immediately believes he was murdered, but the police higher up the chain of command try to insist it's an accident. Then there is another death -- made to look like a suicide. Is there one killer or two? Evans gets involved in trying to find the connection between these two deaths as the key to discovering what happened.
All in all, a great book to curl up with when you have the time to read uninterrupted -- it creates a wonderful mood.

Charming and CleverReview Date: 2000-09-18
This reader is delighted that there is more of Evans and Llanfair waiting. If you have made it through the series and wonder what's next - then M.C. Beaton's Hamish MacBeth series of cozies might should be added to your reading list.
Second Book as Great as the FirstReview Date: 2002-08-07
I just discovered this series last month, and I've already read two of them. The characters and setting are charming. The author's obvious love of them comes through on every page. The plot is great as well. While I had some things figured out, there were still enough twists to keep me surprised until the end.
Anyone looking for a relaxing cozy mystery would do well to book some time in Llanfair. I'm hooked and look forward to many happy visits with Evan and his neighbors.

Dr. Franklin's book has offerred me the opportunity to enhance dialogue and relationships I have with my patients in addition to revamping my own personal outlook and choices. It is an excellent resource and should be on the shelf of patients and provider alike.
Paradigm Shift In How Medicine Should Be PracticedReview Date: 2002-05-06
The bottom line is that this is how medicine should be practiced not only by doctors and health care providers but especially by patients. We learn how patients through Appreciative Dialogue have postive choices for optimum health.
After reading this book, I am not surprised to learn that Dr. Tel Franklin is ranked in the top 50 physicians in California.
This is much better than all Dr. Andrew Weil's books.

Fantastic Follow-Up to Madam PresidentReview Date: 2006-02-17
Presidential biographer and fiancee, Lauren Strayer, plans her wedding day with help from the President's mother and social secretary. President Devlyn Marlowe and her bride-to-be deal with family issues (i.e., Lauren's father) and new relationship woes. They learn to trust each other more fully and redefine their life goals together. They also deal with outside forces such as Dev's children and the press.
This is a well-rounded story with a lot of depth and dimensionality. The characters are likable and the writing is elegant. I highly recommend it as permanent addition to your bookshelf.
Good follow-upReview Date: 2005-03-02
Both books use the technique of chapters representing months of the year and within are contained snapshots of moments; tender, tense, humorous, frustrating, soulful and chilling. They become perfect pearls strung together to provide a necklace filled with all the elements of an evolving and growing relationship. As Devlyn Marlowe must learn to balance her Presidental duties with the needs of her children and her own heart; so must Lauren Strayer, her chosen biographer, come to terms with her own growing admiration and affection for the woman she finds beneath the presidential image.
Balancing out this book are a plethora of engaging supporting characters including a pug who has little use for the power of the Presidency. In addition, three precocious children insure that neither woman can ignore the reality and mundane aspects of building a family.
I thoroughly enjoyed both books and all the characters warmed my heart. The dialogue and characterizations provided a pleasant read and I was overjoyed to continue their tale in the sequel. If you are looking for believable characters who just happen to call 1600 Pennsylvania Ave home, consider these books.

Ms. Scott, thank you for your transparency, insight and courage in writing this book. Sometimes I felt like I personally knew you and even more than that...you personally knew me. You were all up in my business!
It's more than a book to me. It's more of a life reference guide that I will turn to again and again for encouragement, wisdom and inspiration. I'm very excited about using the journaling guide in the back to help me dig out the beautiful woman that's inside of me.
Thank you so much for writing this book! I know what my friends are getting for Christmas this year.
