There have been lots of fortunes made in real estate. There are lots of ways to make money in real estate. Some people swear
by buying rental properties. Some want apartment houses or commerical property, warehouses, storage units or whatever. There
are those who buy run down building and fix them up. And there are those who build houses. Some books talk about buying distressed
properties at auctions or estate sales, neglecting that there are a lot of people looking for deals like this, especially
the real estate agents in the area. This book covers all of these ways and many more. It's a generalized coverage of real
estate investing in all of its aspects.
The author, Stuart Leland Rider is a long time real estate developer and investor. He writes from personal experience. He covers nearly every area you could ask from why real estate at all to providing a CD with customizable forms and spreadsheets to give you a start on the analysis that you need to do.
There's just one point I'd recommend that he doesn't mention. That point is: if you're seriously thinking about real estate, go get a job working in real estate. Probably the easiest job to get and the one that will give you the most general background is to be a salesman at a small real estate agency. But if this is not your bag, go to work for a contractor, a handyman, or whatever your particular interest might be. You'll learn a lot. This may be things that you can learn from this book, but if you actually see them in action you'll understand them better.

As a novice to yoga I really appreciated this book. It gave me a good overview on yoga as well as how to use different yoga
products to either support or enhance the postures. I particularly liked the practice sequences because they took the guess
work out of which asana to do next. I'm happy to recommend this book to anyone interested in yoga.

There's something quite spellbinding about this book about Zoe, "The Greatest Gymnast of All." The illustrations are colorful
and energetic. The text (with simple demonstrations of opposites) is rollicking fun: "On and off, short and long. I do it
all 'cause I'm so strong. I'm zipping, zooming Zoe." My 2 1/2-year-old daughter wants this one again and again. She even
mimics the actions of the young gymnast as she rolls and flips. This book is a big winner at our house.

This was a fascinating read from start to finish. Feder's psychoanalsis and assumptions aside, Mahler's life was already
interesting and filled with excess drama. His relationship with his wife (another fascinating character) and all the name
droppings around their small circle of friends/lovers/associates, etc., made this account one any Mahler fan will read cover
to cover in a day or two. Just great stuff.

I think that a lot of beginning gymnasts will find the book usefull. It is a bit dated, but it still is a nice book. There
are exercises for every gymnastics event, including vault, floor exercise, beam, rings, pommel horse, parallel and uneven
bars, and so much more! I would say it is best for beginning gymnasts, because there aren't many advanced moves in here. However,
it was a great book, and a valuable resource.

This is a beautifully done book showing hundreds of Halloween costumes from 1920 to 1970. It also discusses the TV shows,
movies, comics, and history of the characters shown on the costumes. A veritable history of television shows. Did you know
that Kitty, the friendly saloon girl on the show Gunsmoke is honored with a Halloween costume. You will find yourself going
back to this book over and over again.

I used this handbook during nursing school for a mental health course and accompanying clinical rotation. It's concise and
covers everything from therapeutic concepts to psychopharmacology to treatment plans. It's small enough to carry around in
a lab coat and the chapters are well organized. A good investment all around!

After explaining a variety of investment vehicles, Rider boils it down: "You have to buy into the idea that the single best asset you can have related to any real estate investment is a solid, rent-paying tenant." He describes how to manage and maintain both residential and commercial properties, beginning with a thorough explanation of land use regulations which dictate what developers can do with property and then how owners and tenants can use it.
This book is rich with charts, lists, and illustrations. Rider's own experience validates his information and advice. Throughout the book, Rider includes definitions in boxes to further explain the terms he is using (in addition to a comprehensive glossary). Readers will also appreciate his "Heads Up" notes with warnings and alerts.
Rider takes complicated issues and makes them easy to understand. While he doesn't discuss how to market for tenants, he does give clear advice for negotiating lease terms and maintaining your relationship with tenants once you have them. Great Big Book for Landlords and Property Managers: The Care and Keeping of Tenants is a must for any serious real estate investor's library.
