I love this book as it gives a different spin on the 100th day of school. As an educator, I am always looking for things that fit the curriculum but are of interest to the learners. There are many follow-through activities to do after reading this.

Whether you have 5 minutes or 5 hours of free time, this book will entertain, inform, and perhaps even infuriate you (if you disagree with the author's list!). As a sports fan, I've heard numerous accounts of some of the most storied events in NY sports history, but I've never wanted to read an entire book on any of these historic moments. Well, here's the answer. In only a few pages (for each event), Miller cuts to the chase and masterfully retells the story as if you were there. The icing on the cake is the "bonus" lists he includes, such as the best and worst trades by New York teams. All told, this is one book that won't collect dust on my shelf.

Also, the back of the book contains several humorously illustrated certificates that parents (or teachers)can give to children after making a craft, like, the "Creative Genius" award, or the "Stretching Your Ability" award! This is a great book for parents to keep handy when they hear the inevitable, "Mom, I'm bored; what can I do?" When television is out the question, parents should hand this book to thier child with a room full of craft-making goodies, and let kids create and have a blast with their talents!

this book is for those who wanted to fall in love.. who are in love and want to rekindle the passion.. or for anyone who doesn't have a clue about romance..: ) this book is very special cause it has everything in it--love quotes,best places to go with your loved one.. about the most romantic things to do-- it will make your heart flutter as you turn every page.. and because there is 1000 surprises in it.. you can read it over and over again. What i like most about it is that it is not just a collection of love poems/quotes.. it is actually from real people's point of view about love.. ranging from 7 years old to 89! its soo wonderful! I need a dose of it everyday. It makes me smile and fall in love with my special someone.

What happens when a person becomes a soldier? Does he become one because of a sense of adventure? Does he like becoming a soldier? Is it an easy job?

This work of Keith E. Stuart shatters many myths regarding a soldier's life. The most common beliefs regarding a soldier are that he loves his fellow soldiers as his brethren and is willing to give his life to protect them. This book looks frankly at this and many more such folklore and shows that a soldier never wishes to die, for anyone. It also addresses such controversial questions as to what happens to a soldier once the war is over. In other words once the necessity for the job is lost, do the government and the country and more importantly the public, realize the importance of the soldier? Do they appreciate his worth? Or do they feel that he is something like an appendage?

A soldier's life is not simple. He is supposed to be sacrificial; but in fact he always wishes that he were not part of the casualty list. At the same time the life of a soldier is not one that is selfish, but is one that is dedicated to protecting others. In his attempt to protect others he is also willing to give his life. This strange dichotomy in his character is brought out clearly in this book. Drawing on his experiences as a soldier in Korea during 1952-53, the author weaves a sympathetic biography of a soldier's life.

With a language that is simple, and a style that is reminiscent of James Herriot's biographies, the book manages to entertain as well as instruct the readers. In fact one can be assured that after reading this no one will look at soldiers in the same manner again.

I received this book as a gift from a friend because he knows how much I love to golf. He also knows I collect golf balls. This book has interesting information about the evolution of the golf ball from its earlier forms through the transformation to what it looks like today.

I really liked this book. Action..it doesn't have..and forget mystery. It is the story of real people..in a real time..in a real situation. If you want a taste of yesteryear, a time when the man had the say and the woman followed blindly, then this is the book for you. I enjoyed the extras, the gardens, the flowers, and the cooking. I am still hungry for biscuits from having read this book. It has a satisfying ending and is a good story. I am glad I bought it and read it.

An Abundance Of Witches: The Great Scottish Witch-Hunt is a detailed history of witch-hunting and persecution in Scotland from approximately 1658-1662, an era generally thought to be the high point of a turbulent history of violence and hatred for accused witches. The turmoil of political history, Scotland's previous time as an English province, and the revived fervor of Calvinist religion in the Scottish Church accentuated the internal conflict. An Abundance Of Witches does not shy from sometimes horrifying details, including calculated tallies of men and women strangled or burned alive at the stake, fees paid to those involved in hunting, capturing, and executing witches; materials, components, and implements of torture used for such purposes, a search for the psychological motivations behind the slaughter, and more. An excellent and scholarly contribution to Scottish and European history shelves.
