If witches were supposed to look and sound like everyone else, how could they be detected, in Salem days? WITCH HUNTERS is
the first history of the careers of those said to be able to identify a witch, charting the claims and backgrounds of zealots,
professional folks and others who perceived evil and sought to expose it. History lecturer Maxwell-Stuart provides a lively
survey which uses source material quotes to back cultural and biographical insights.

Enjoyable. If you`re a woman and you want to know how that makes you different at a poker table of men, you`re in for a lot
of smiles and a truthful ride. Of course, if you play poker with men you already know exactly what those strengths and weaknesses
are, but it`s nice to have the experiences of other women players validate reality. Good compliation of stories. Nice job.
Well-done. A satisfying read.

In recent years women have emerged as a powerful force in poker rooms throughout the world, whether online or land based.
If you are one of these women, no matter what level you are playing or in what venue, this book is for you. Maryann Morrison
has masterfully compiled the stories of 16 women who run the gamut from renowned professional to accomplished amateur to enthusiastic
beginner. The result is a virtual feast if you have craved insights, strategies and tips for not only surviving but thriving
on "the feminine side of the felt". You'll feel like you've found a source of support, an increased sense of confidence and
a knowing that you're not alone. An unexpected bonus is that this book offers wisdom for women everywhere which extends far
beyond the scope of poker. As contributor Cat Hulbert said in her own book "Outplaying the Boys" (another must-buy), "poker
shows a person's true character." As such, the wealth of advice in this gem of a book applies to all of life's endeavors.

Stuart Shea does a fantastic job in this "unauthorized biography" of Wrigley Field of telling the entire story of the Lake
View neighborhood, not just the ballpark. From the founding of the area in the mid-19th Century, to the area we know today
as Wrigleyville.
Plus, it is filled with details of the Cubs on-field experiences as well. Yes, those wanting to know about how Wrigley went from a small grand-stand at Clark and Addison in 1914 housing a Federal League ball club to one of the most revered parks in the country; double-decked, and with the ivy covered walls, will not be disappointed. However, Shea also tells the story of the teams that played there as well. For, what is a ballpark without a ball club? (Bears fans should note that a chapter is dedicated to non-baseball related activities. There is also a note in this chapter about the Chicago Sting soccer club.)
I would agree that this book could have used more photographs. I'm not asking for a coffee table book (there are plenty of those already available) that takes away from what the book is trying to accomplish... Rather that, since the book is trying to point out (and at times refers to photos used researching the Wrigley renovations through the years), that additional historical photos would enhance the already deep wealth of information available in this book. This minor detail, however, is not enough to detract from a top recommendation for this excellent book on the Friendly Confines.

Stuart Shea has written an intelegent and well researched book on the crown jewel of baseball parks.
The book illuminates not only the park but more over the vibrant and diverse personalities that gave Wrigley Field its character. From its comprehensive analysis of early Lake View, to the lights, Shea shares the details and yes even the foibles of those who call the Friendly Confines.
I encourage all that are fans of Wrigley to use this as a resource.
If the book were to be lacking, it would be in the actual paper quality and the lack of unique photos. Photos can be found in countless other books claiming to be definative on the park, but you will not find the facts and amazing narative content that Shea provides. This is a great baseball book.

Kids always amaze me with what they say and the way they reason. Although I come from a different cultural back ground, reading
the series of books getting the kids to bring their thoughts down to paper by Stuart Hample, I can clearly see there is no
major difference between childeren and their logical thinking and their questions. How on earth do they grow up to be so different?

A very sweet book. Many of the entries made me burst out laughing. Others made me cry. The children really capture that
ambivalence--that love and loathing, gratitude and irritation--we all feel towards our siblings when we're young (maybe even
when we're not so young...).

Whether you have 5 minutes or 5 hours of free time, this book will entertain, inform, and perhaps even infuriate you (if you
disagree with the author's list!). As a sports fan, I've heard numerous accounts of some of the most storied events in NY
sports history, but I've never wanted to read an entire book on any of these historic moments. Well, here's the answer.
In only a few pages (for each event), Miller cuts to the chase and masterfully retells the story as if you were there. The
icing on the cake is the "bonus" lists he includes, such as the best and worst trades by New York teams. All told, this is
one book that won't collect dust on my shelf.

Great Ideas That Are Easy For Kids To Do!

This book has many bonuses! Not only are the craft and gift ideas easy for kids to make, the illustrations throughout the
book are entertaining! The book is filled with "Smile" cartoons that brighten your day and add joy as you flip through the
pages. There are ideas for every season and occasion to keep kids busy at any time of the year. Also, the back of the book
contains several humorously illustrated certificates that parents (or teachers)can give to children after making a craft,
like, the "Creative Genius" award, or the "Stretching Your Ability" award! This is a great book for parents to keep handy
when they hear the inevitable, "Mom, I'm bored; what can I do?" When television is out the question, parents should hand
this book to thier child with a room full of craft-making goodies, and let kids create and have a blast with their talents!

Maxwell-Stuart's writings are clear and takes you very easily back and forth through accounts of "witchcraft" and "sabbats".
This a book for a serious student of the history of witch hunting and the societies in Europe that it affected.
