GREAT BOOK!!!! As the introduction of the book states, "You want intimacy, so go out there and get it!". A great first step in achieving this goal is to read this book. Not just once, but I believe every couple should each reread it once every three months. That is why I call this book the Intimacy Bible. Men and women are inherently different creatures. However, one's marriage is the most important relationship you will ever undertake. It's amazing how people will spend ten hours per day at a job, three hours a day in front of a television, one hour day eating, however, they spend no time at all educating and refining their marital/relationship skills. The reason I love this book is that every page is chock full of great information and ideas for a successful relationship. Unlike most books in which the author wastes your time with a lot of mindless jabber, this book cuts to the chase on every page. I can actually place myself in each of the one hundred tips/questions and the answers are fabulous. The reader walks away armed with a multitude of helpful tips they can use immediately in improving their relationship. If you seek real intimacy and a great relationship, read this book and buy an extra copy for your mate. I guarantee, if you follow these tips, it will improve your relationship tremendously.

What a great book! The presentation of multiple styles definitely caught my eye as I fanned through the book the first time; I was hooked! The introduction is very well written, and each page thereafter imparts a wealth of information that is simply a joy to read.

I love "power" words - single words that encompass my thoughts and feelings - and kanji characters are a beautiful way to express them. I found 'Designing with Kanji' in my effort to design my next tattoo. When I did not find exactly what I was looking for in the book, I contacted Leza and she promptly responded with the characters I needed. Great book - great woman!

I have been an admirer for Oriental Culture, and willing to understand Chinesse and Japanese writing. This book is an excellent source which explains a lot of Kanji symbols, and has several notes about interesting facts about it. I recommend it to all people looking to introduce themselves into this enigmatic and wonderful language.

Easy to read, follow, and use right away. Shows formal, modern, flowing, and stylish character sets. Describes the root, meaning, and nature of common Japanese words and phrases. The calligraphy is excellent. I only wish it was longer and more encompassing. Among other things I use this book as a supplement to Write Your Name in Kanji text by Nobuo Sato to write the characters more elegantly.

We had recently seen "The Last Samuri" so I was in the frame of mind to learn more about Japanese history and culture. I found this book on the Breakfast table one recent morning. The introduction and explanation of Kanji was clear and concise. This book provided a great beginning to the subject of how a culture influenced a language and how a language influenced a culture. I couldn't put it down for an hour or so. I'll refer to it often.

We own all of this series! Started reading them when my daughter was 4 (she just turned 5 now), and they are age appropriate. Not too scary and always a happy ending. One book only takes us about 4-5 nights worth of reading together. The longer ones are good too "Fairy Dust and the Quest for the Egg" and "Fairy Haven and the Quest for the Wand", but they are a little bit scarrier than the short books (more appropriate for ages 5-7 I would think).

Fira is outnumbered by her triplets and has to apologize to her townsfolk a lot. (Single mom + 3 bickering kids = go away now please.) But the day is saved when her kids disobey her instructions to stay home and follow her deep into a dangerous mine! Yay!

Actually, the story was pretty good. A fun read.

The CD version is read by the talented Debra Wiseman.

My 8 y.o. has fallen in love with these books. You typically can't fail with Disney products and these are no exception. The stories are interesting and unlike some series books for this age range, these books stand alone and are not "formula" books where only the names and places are changed, but the same event takes place. Each fairy has a talent and her talent solves the problem in her book. The illustrations are vivid and imaginative. Apparently there's a movie about Pixie Hollow that will be coming out soon and there are also toys starting to come out with the fairies.

Annie & Jack find out that there's a rattlesnake in a ghost town and they have to hide from some people. And they find a piano that's playing all by itself. And we don't know what ...was playing it. It's a surprise for you, because you might find out. And I might find out too, because I have it at home. I have a lot of Magic Tree House books at my house. ...

My 1st grader hates to put it down, he would rather read Magic Tree House books, than play video games. He even reads them to his class and explains the story for show and tell. In his kindergarten class the teacher would also let him read the Magic Tree House books out loud, not to give her a break, but to promote reading out loud. Great books!

I've passed this book around Newark Delaware. The Deer Park and East End crowds start reading it and wont put it down. They're laughing and remembering details about dorms or college life that they haven't thought about in years. Anyone who's into the music scene just gets around town will also be surprised how many details are in there that they've forgotten.

The book also does a lot to clear up rumors and truths about the music scene, the history of Newark's biggest community concert "Wilburfest", and the politics and the resourcefulness of students to keep their music festivals alive.

It's rare that a book like this comes out. For a twenty year period; all the hard work of the local musicians, all the good times of so many students, overcoming the obstacles of college living, and just plain growing up is celebrated here.

This book is endorsed by SkidFest - need I say anything more.

Well this is my third title from Shiuko Kano and this one is definitely on the hard core .Everytime this two meet, it is a f*** fest, maybe the mangaka was pressured to have more s** in this title.
Character development wise and story not that strong compared to other titles ie Kiss all the boys and Yakuza in Love.
I like the illustration style but The cover is the weakness.

Maybe I'm Your Steppin' Stone (Yaoi)

The younger seme (Ezumi Masashi) and older uke (Sakai Kazuya) is a concept I've recently gotten behind....that is thanks to this manga. Reading the reviews, you are well aware of the plotline, but the chemistry between the characters is most important to note. And let me tell you, there is CHEMISTRY!

The artwork is great, especially the details given to the eyes and lips. During those most intimate moments, it is most intense. I think everyone will let out a squeal during the tryst between Masashi and Kazuya when Masashi drives Kazuya so wild that he's literally biting the sheets. *WHEW!* Yes, moments like these make me love this manga ever so much.

But, smut alone doesn't make this manga top notch. The storyline is great and it grabs your interest. You really care about the characters and root for them to have a happy ending. I'm looking forward to the spin-off manga, unfortunately not about these characters, "Maybe I'm Your Steppin Stone".

My only problem is that the link to digicomic.net is no longer operational, that is a let down once you read the Club Dandy section.

Sakai has a passion for well endowed women, really if you look at them they border on the fat type, but everyone has his taste... And when he falls in love for Izumi's sister, it's with his great regret that he is informed that the girl only dated well cultured men, and Sakai is a drop out from school who works as construction worker. But Izumi makes a bargaign with him: he will help Sakai to pass the test for college's admittance and Sakai in exchange will have sex with Izumi.

Even if Izumi has never had before a gay relationship, he is very willing to go on with the bargain: it's only sex, isn't it? But when he realizes that maybe he is more involved of what he thought, he chickens out and tries to break with Izumi. But Izumi is not willing to let go.

In comparison to other Shiuko Kano's manga I have read, this one is very explicit: it's like, since the relationship started as a pure sex thing, that the drawning needs to be more explicit and less romantic. And also the style is a pretty more "comic" and less "realistic". I like a lot Izumi's looks, and a little less Sakai's. Most of the time Sakai is too extreme, but sometime I can see an almost naivee's looks in him.

A manga very explicit which manages to be also funny and lighthearted.

Very Hard Yaoi

Kazuya wants to impress a girl by taking the high school entrance exam. So he turns to her younger brother Masashi to help tutor him. But Mashashi wants Kazuya for himself and demands sex as payment for the lessons!

When 801 Media announced they would publish hard yaoi, I was skeptical. I only consider it hard yaoi if the sex is graphically rendered (and cones of light had best not be anywhere in the book!). 801 has delivered exactly what they said they would. This manga is Hard yaoi with a capital H! There is hot sex right from the very beginning. I loved Ayano Yamane's Finder series, which was very graphic, but this takes explicit yaoi to a new level. The mangaka goes beyond simple intercourse and depicts sexual acts that I have only read in gay romance. These two even get it on in the bathroom at a movie theatre! Fortunately, the art is very well done. The people are proportioned correctly, there is shading and detail throughout and the men look like men. Everything a hard yaoi fan could want. So, why only 4 stars? The translation.

I had a difficult time in a lot of panels figuring out which man was saying what. There is a LOT of angst in the story, from both boys, and this lack of clear dialog was frustrating at times. The first "chapter" of the story, the boys have sex and it appears just casual on Kazuya's part. But, in the second chapter he is suddenly the reluctant uke, refusing intercourse. I wasn't sure at first if the second chapter was supposed to be a flashback. His resistance continues for another chapter or so before it becomes clear both boys are in love with one another. The story is a very good romance. Masashi is a seme who knows what he wants, but this is still his first relationship and "first time." This is Kazuya's first time with a man, and he already has self-confidence issues because of his lack of education. This naturally leads to tension and more hot sex. When Kazuya's motivations for taking the test are revealed, readers get a great conclusion to a sweet romance.

Overall, I highly recommend this yaoi. The translation by 801 leaves a little to be desired, but it didn't ruin my enjoyment of the book. I will certainly look for more by the mangaka.

Characters in the book share their name for God and in the end they all learn that God's specific name is not so important as their being respectful of each other's choices for God's name. Children and adults should enjoy this book. The illustrations are wonderful and the story is simple, yet very meaningful. This would be a great gift to share with friends of different faiths: a good way to let someone know that you are not prejudiced agianst their religious belief system...

I've used this book in a number of situations and first came across it at a retreat for those young Franciscans Friars in Religious Formation. It launched a wonderful discussion on our images of God. It is masterfully written and beautifully illustrated.

The way in which Sasso presents the variety of our images of God and how they all are equally useful and beautiful illustrates how we can move beyond our differences and become a sign of unity.

A great book to have in the house.

Words spoken and written in God's name often do not seem to do God justice. It is then delightful when you do come across words and images that gather together something of the essence of God.
Sandy Eisenberg Sasso and Phoebe Stone are amazingly talented women who manage to do just this!
Sasso is the author of the book `In God's Name', whose insightful words are complimented by Stone's drawings.
What is God's name? Is it Healer? Source of light? Ancient of Days? Shepherd? Mother? Peacemaker? What is the `best' name for God?
`In God's Name' wanders along a path searching out the right name for God; it encounters those who think they have found the perfect and only name for the one who is.
The drawings are both breathtaking and charming, creating a story of movement and grace and drawing attention to the life and wonder of that which God has made.
This book invites children, adults and communities to question who God is for them. It encourages discussion about the way God is perceived and named, and the importance of this to us.
It does not shy away from the fact that it is hard work to listen to others, especially about something so close to the centre of ourselves. It is difficult to listen to other's ideas about God, without interjecting with our own rights or wrongs.
Yet this book provides a path forwards. Valuing other's ideas and perceptions about God is a central theme to this work. Not only are the thoughts of the white haired grandfather given weight, but also the thoughts of a lonely child, of the farmer with skin like the rich brown earth, of the slave freed from bondage and of the young mother nursing her newborn. The insights these different characters provide from their own lives create opportunities for us to reflect on our experiences of God.
The beauty of the final scene in the book shows something of God's grace to us. All those who felt they knew the `right' name for God find themselves gathered around a clear still lake, something like a mirror - `God's mirror'.
In looking into the lake they recognise the many faces that belong to God and are unable to stop themselves from calling out in joy the countless and wonderful names that God has, and realising that they are all good names and none is better than another.
You cannot help but smile as you see the coming together of a community in which the members are able to celebrate the diversity of themselves and the God in whose image they have been made.
`In Gods name' provides countless opportunities for your faith community to gather closer to God as you search for the many names that God holds.

Ark of the Covenant

Review Date: 2008-05-20
Raymond Capt has become my favorite author. This thought provoking book charts the traces of the Ark of the Covenant in archeology and history that is hidden from our eyes. Accepted recorded history may not be the most accurate version of history. Read Mr. Capt's works for a new look at very old concepts.
He traces the stone to the Biblical Jacob when he laid his head when he dreamt of the great ladder described in the Bible. The stone was named, Beth-el. The book traces how the Israelites valued this stone and took it with them where they traveled. However, the Israelites had become too sinful and disobeyed God and consequently paid the price.
The house of Judah was taken into captivity but we were reminded by Mr. Capt that God doesn't idly promise something and doesn't fulfill it in a way that is highly original. That stone was taken by the prophet Jeremiah as the city was being taken by the Babylonians and he took the daughter of King of Judah before his sons were killed and the king's eyes were put out. He hid the daughter and this stone in a very unlikely place.
We never think that that the Biblical people traveled far by sea, but they did as Jeremiah took this stone by way of Tanis, Egypt and then on to Ireland where he married the Princes of Judah to the high King of Ireland. The people were the Tuatha de Danann, meaning the House of Dan, (also of the house of Israel). Her name is plastered all over Ireland, Tea Tephi as Team hair or Tara. Tara is named after this daughter of King Zedekiah of Israel and married to preserve the line of Judah promised by God so long ago.
Following the stone, "the Stone of Destiny" had been on loan to the Kings of Scotland from their cousins the Irish, relatives of the ancient Irish, but some how the stone was never returned. All of the Kings and Queens of Ireland were crowned on this stone and then the stone was lent to Scotland and all the Kings and Queens of Scotland were also crowned on this stone. And then the stone went on to England through the merging of the two houses and it has stood in the coronation chair in Westminster Abbey until it was returned to Scotland and now sits in Edinburgh Castle as a good faith gesture to the people of Scotland.
Learn the lost ways, but newly found truth of a stone long forgotten. I highly recommend it.

This captivating book by E. Raymond Capt takes you on a fascinating journey through the Bible and secular history, tracing Jacob's pillar from its origin in Bethel (Gen 28:10-22) to its final resting place in the Isles of Great Britain. He shows how this Stone of Destiny upon which the Kings of the House of David were crowned is the exact same Stone that has been preserved for centuries and used in the coronation ceremonies of the kings and queens of Ireland, Scotland, and England (descendants of David's House). It is amazing to comprehend, but Mr. Capt brings the evidence together as the pieces of a puzzle until it becomes clear that our God is a covenant-keeping God and delights in leaving physical proofs of His Sovereignty and Faithfulness among His people. It just makes you know that if God can preserve a Stone through thousands of years, He is certainly able to establish His everlasting Kingdom in righteousness among regathered Israel. Another intriguing book concerning this Righteous Kingdom is Mr. Capt's recently published book entitled Stone Kingdom, in which he identifies the United States of America as the fifth kingdom of Daniel, chapter 2.

The Stone of Destiny traced -- presentation of the cumulative evidence which reveals the fate of the Bible's most famous stone.

The scriptures are full of references to "stones", both literal and symbolic. One such stone is identified as the stone upon which the patriarch Jacob rested his head when he dreamed of the heavenly ladder. This stone has not received the attention it deserves from Bible scholars, because they generally assume it was left where Jacob found it.

However, this is not the case. The stone that Jacob later annointed with oil and declared to be "God's House" (Beht-El) did not remain lost in the wilderness of Luz; it continued to play an important part in the destiny of Jacob's descendants. In the past, such suggestions have been dismissed as fascinating legend and tradition, but there are pertinent historical writings and visible evidence worthy of consideration.

Is Jacob's stone "the House of God?" Does it exist today? Does it bear witness to God's amazing plan for our planet? The questions are puzzling, and the answers are startling, throwing new light on the Bible. The purpose of this book is to present the cumulative evidence which reveals the fate of the Bible's most famous "stone".

Using this book and a good map of Ireland, I found and explored the two possible sights of the tomb of Jeremiah. I had a great time in the effort.

ANYONE UP FOR A ROCK PARTY!??

I couldn't help it, it sounded so fascinating when I was invited to a "rock party". A friend held it, and all of us got together at her place. She had a bunch of field rock, (though I've heard smooth river rock is good also) and she had cleaned them all up and they sat, waiting on her front step. We took turns choosing the rock that "spoke to us" and brought it into the house for some good old fashioned gossip and a fun project with friends. Oh, yes, we had doubts! Halfway through those rocks were UGLY, and we took a few chip and salsa breaks so we could look at them from a distance (they looked better that way- Laugh!). But- amazingly enough- when we finished the last step, perfectly outlined in the book- our rocks looked GREAT!! I actually DISPLAY mine in my little rock garden, and get so many comments on their "uniqueness". What a fun idea! And takes almost no $ to get started, if you're like me, you already have the simple materials lying around from previous projects!! Great book, simple instructions, great tips and pointers- even for the novice.

It has beautiful painted rocks in it and shows just how easy it is to paint rocks. I am not a real good painter but, I do plan to give it a try. Instructions and ideas in this book are great even for a beginner like me.

Super, these books by Ms. Wellford are illustrated so beautifully that ANYONE could paint animals and such on rocks. Her directions are not only the written word, but also demonstrated by showing the drawing from the stones to use, preparing the stones, sketching from "square one" on thru the completed reproduction. These books are a MUST for any rock painter enthusiast.

A new meaning to the words "Pet Rock":

Lin Wellford has out-done herself again! I just can't get enough of her books! For those of you who have not read any of Lin Wellford's books, let me tell you, IT'S TIME TO START! In "Painting Pets on Rocks" you learn how to paint your dog, cat, fish, and even your pet bird! The book doesn't just show you one type of dog, or only one cat. Lin gives you instructions on how to create many different rock pets. From Dalmations to bulldogs, tabby cat to siamese...this book has it all.

Even if you have never painted before, you can do these projects. The book has full color, nearly step by step photos with the step by step instructions. As with all Lin Wellford books, her instructions are written for the beginner and it is amazing how well your pet rocks come out.

Photographs as Rock and Roll History--Personal Images of the Early Stones

This unique book follows the Stones from their earliest years as a struggling band through their early fame, as recorded by photojournalist and Stones friend Bent Rej. Many of the photos are more intimate than the typical stuff shot of the band, because Rej knew the members. The book is chronologically arranged, with sections on each individual original member as well. The text is informative and serves as a good backdrop for the photos.

What amazes me is that this fifty dollar book is available on Amazon for under five bucks. What is everyone waiting for!? Jump all over this one.

Thanks author and Bill Wyman for their work. Happy to see people from 1960-s. Think, that new volume about Brian Jones' Rolling Stones is great addition to the histiry of the Great Rock'n'roll band and to the history of the our papas and grandfathers' generation. Photos are fine. We can see them only in magazines and fanzines from early 1960s. But quality of prints is better here, in the "RS in the Beginning"

Bent certainly captured the uniqueness of Brian Jones and his Stones in this collection. Much humor was filmed that many can say is absolutely priceless! Especially Mr. Jones camping in his undergarments. Those were the days!
