I am a cookbook JUNKIE and own about 4 cookbooks just on Pasta. This one has more recipes that I absolutely adore than any other I have in my collection. I have my own pasta maker and combining that with the many varieties of recipes for sauces and combinations, our meals at home are becoming more and more varied and colorful, not to mention healthy and delicious. I highly recommend this cookbook to people. The only thing I would like more of is a few photos but the recipes are easy to follow with common ingredients. Just pull out the book and whip up dinner in just a few minutes. Great!

I always thought that some couples had good relationships because they were lucky enough to have the right chemistry. I didn't know it was possible to create your own luck and your own relationship chemistry until I read your wonderful book. If my ex-husband and I had had your book five years ago, maybe we'd still be married today!

The book seems a little broad at a first glance; however, it gives you a very nice step by step lab each topic. It has some TIPS for your test on most every page. The explanation which should be understandable for any reader is given and not just some Geek speak. The book comes with a Test generator CD and even with SERVER 2003 Trail version for 180 days. Great book if you ask me to get ready for your Cert or job

Allen Abel is one of the world's great travel writers. An expatriate New Yorker who's lived in Toronto for 25 years, he's reported for major Canadian papers and the CBC network from over 100 countries. I've been a devoted fan of his ever since he first
emerged as a sports writer in the '70s and have followed him from
Beijing to Brooklyn, Nova Scotia to New Guinea, and Turkey to Timbuktu. Wherever Abel is, you can always count on the most obscure, off-beat, and unusual experiences- and he's funny as hell too. Nobody, but nobody, writes like Allen Abel! It's a crime that most Americans don't know him. Pick this up and see why he's worth it.

Maybe Canada isn't perfect after all. Palango shows some of my Country's warts but I am still glad to live here. He is a superlative investigative reporter and writer and it shows in this important work. Canada is a better Country for having him, and others like him, keep an eye on complex and often hidden issues.

This book was made in a very proffesional way. From the moment I started reading and following each chapter i felt that this book would be a great guide for me in this level. I have run through alot of manuals but they weren't so precise and deep into tasks as this book was. i truely recommend it. it's the perfect resource for programmers and developers and everyone else in need to complete.

A practical guide with an eye toward the future.

The Accounting Software Handbook provides an excellent overview of the state of accounting software today as we move into the Client/Server environment. The book can be read from cover to cover to obtain a basic understanding of the state of the accounting software industry. It also serves as an excellent reference, since the author breaks down the book by chapters such as " Internet Accounting" and " Graphical Accounting", which should be referred back to frequently. Finally, by doing such an excellent job of updating us on the current status of this changing industry, the author provides functional business managers with ideas of how they can use technology to improve their organizations.

The author is an excellent writer whose style is informative for managers, technical people who need a better understanding of business issues, as well as students, salespeople, and others who are trying to develop a basic understanding of the business. I would recommend this book not only to those involved in the software industry, but to anyone studying where business is headed in the future.

My favorite of the 11 short stories in ACROSS THE BRIDGE is the euponymous tale set in Paris sometime around the mid-20th Century. One is never sure of the exact date of one of Mavis Gallant's stories as they are so timeless. In "Across the Bridge" the heroine is engaged to be married, and at the last moment persuades her parents to call off the ceremony. The picture Gallant paints of white wedding invitations floating away in the Seine is quite startling and could have taken place at any time over the past 150 years.

Gallant's writing has been compared with that of Alice Munro with some justification. Both authors write short stories, sometimes linked to each other (as are several of the tales in ACROSS THE BRIDGE), frequently told from a woman's point of view, about family matters -- engagements, enduring and/or barely endured marriages, children wanted and unwanted, money worries, daughters whisked off to nunneries or other out-of-the-way place, unrequieted love, revenge -- and faith or lack of it.
Both women are Canadian authors, though Munro tends to write about the non-Gallic mostly Scots-descent Canadians whereas Gallant's stories are most often about French Canadienne or Parisienne protagonists. Munro and Gallant are both frequently published in the New Yorker Magazine, and most of the stories in ACROSS THE BRIDGE appeared in the New Yorker before being added to this collection.

Each of the tales told by Gallant this book is about rejection and acceptance. For example, in "A State of Affairs" the refugee status of a very elderly Polish Jew living in Paris following a WWII Nazi prison camp internment becomes imperiled when 'normal' relations are restored between Poland and France. In "The Fenton Child" a baby is both wanted and unwanted.

Gallant's writing is literate and compelling, and I find myself reflective after reading one of her stories. She does not feel a need to tie up loose ends or make the world seem better or worse than it really is. She has a gift for arousing empathy. Often, it seems to me, her stories include a relatively positive note. In "Across the Bridge" for example, at one point the young narrator says "It was a small secret, insignificant, but it belonged to the true life that was almost ready to let me in. And so it did, and yes, it made me happy."

I knew from the cover---a photograph of a well-worn and weather Adirondack chair---that I was in for a treat, and the pages that followed confirmed that impression. Here is a superbly written and well photographed treatise on the ubiquitous Adirondack chair, that distinctly American style of chair that one cannot resist sitting in with a good novel and beverage. Through a combination of poetry, prose, anecdotes, and meticulous research, Daniel Mack elevates this rather pedestrian piece of furniture into a position of royalty, and does so with style and flair.
For those readers who, like myself after reading this book, are so moved to build an Adirondack chair, Mr. Mack offers plans and step-by-step instructions. The advanced woodworker will find the wide variety of chair designs contained in this book positively inspiring; novice woodworkers will find the plans and easy to follow step-by-step instructions particularly helpful. Even the casual reader will enjoy the rich historical perspective and outstanding photography.
