Blue Eagle Meets Double Trouble
By
Steven E. Jones

Steven E. Jones introduces young children to light suspense in this second addition to his popular Blue Eagle series.
Blue Eagle leaves Peaceful Valley for the day and the animals encounter two wolves who try to eat them. The small community of characters come together to defeat the hungry wolves. Blue Eagle comes back and takes the wolves away from his friends.
A fun to read book that teaches children the values of teamwork, determination, pride in oneself and that we are all unique and should be proud of our accomplishments.
The beautiful, vivid, water color illustrations guide you through this tale and bring the animals in Peaceful Valley to life. Steven E. Jones Jr. is a very talented illustrator who has captured the essence of the characters whose lives we are allowed to share.
The Blue Eagle books will have long life on the shelves in children's libraries teaching them moral values for our time. This is a book that parents will also love to read with their children. Another great, must have book.

Great book for children of all ages!!

This author, Steven E. Jones, has done it again!! His Blue Eagle series is absolutely one of the best I have read. His second book,Blue Eagle Meets Double Trouble, is a wonderful story of the animals in Peaceful Valley and Blue Eagle who watches over them. The story is written in rhyme and the vocabulary is excellent. There is so much in this book to use in the classroom! I have taken this book and made a number of lessons from it. I expecially like the moral of the story. I can use the story line to bring up all kinds of discussions of the right and wrong things to do and the trouble you can get into if you do not work together. The characters all work together when there is trouble and Blue Eagle is always there to help them. I use this book in my classroom library and I had read it to my grandchildren. I brings me great satisfaction to know we have such a good author of children's books. I look forward to the next book in the Blue Eagle series. My students continue to look for blue feathers on their desks when they do a good deed.

Not only good reading but there's lessons too!

I loved reading this book to my five year old grandson who was already familiar with Blue Eagle(we have the FIRST Blue Eagle book!) The book flows smoothly, the colors are vivid and beautiful and the story itself keeps a youngster completely interested. The characters all have their own personalities which makes them likeable. The Blue Eagle books are not only amusing but educational with a wonderful message for people of all ages!

HOW ONE COMES TO BE TURLPEIZED

As the BLUE EAGLE series continues we begin to see how the environment of Peaceful Valley is very much like the communities that we all live in. We can feel peaceful and protected by those who watch over us, but there are times when that peace can be shaken.

Blue Eagle is a friend to all and when his help is needed farther up the valley he gives his Peaceful Valley friends a few words of wisdom and then heads off. He secretly knows that they will do fine without him but he probably never suspects he'll come home to find a turple has saved the day!

Now coyotes have their place in the world as we all do, but they have a way of being mischievous and causing havoc and harm at times. And as they approach the valley a meeting is called and it's suggested that everyone should find safe places to retreat until peace returns.

Three residents decide that their built-in protection systems might help when their unwelcome visitors show up. Picking their spots they patiently wait and what happens next turns the tide in the valley's favor.

Blue Eagle returns to help clean up and hear the tale that has all his friends laughing and dancing while one resident learns the value of standing up for others even if it involves a little turpleization!

Blue Eagle meets Double Trouble gives us another treasure of family folklore. Once again this talented father-son team provide children ages four to eight with an engaging tale of suspense that in the end teaches values we hope to instill in our children. The virtue of community and teamwork, determination and willpower, and taking pride in one's own uniqueness shine through in the actions of the animals in Peaceful Valley. You and your children will love the bright watercolor drawings and the fun-to-read-aloud rhyming text. Bravo, the originator of these tales has to be smiling down on you two!

Boris Ate a Thesaurus is so cute my 9 month old laughed out loud when I read him all of the synonyms in the book. The story is fun, the illustrations simple and engaging and overall the story is educational while being entertaining to read. It is a witty approach to children's books that is entertaining for parents too. I bought one for all of my nieces and nephews and highly recommend it!

Boris Ate a Thesaurus is a children's picturebook about a young boy who happens to eat a thesaurus - and suddenly starts talking in synonyms! His fame and popularity increase, and he is even invited to meet the President and deliver a big, giant, huge speech to all of America. But is one boy up to giving a great speech, or will his grand words suddenly disappear, evaporate, vanish? He discovers the answer in the Library of Congress: "All the words in the world are right here in these books. The secret to remember is that books are for reading, not for eating. Every time you read, you discover new words that last a lifetime." Playful illustrations by artists Barry M. Chung round out this friendly picturebook ideal for encouraging young people to read more.

This is one of the most original stories I have read in a long time (and I have read alot of stories!) My boys were so captivated by the exciting adventure that they didn't even realize that they were learning an important lesson regarding synonyms at the same time. In addition to the clever story the illustrations are superb! I would highly recommend this book for all 1st-4th graders. This book would make a great birthday and/or holiday gift. It is sure to become an all time classic!

When I first took it out from the library, I thought that it would be a stupid story. Boy, was I ever wrong! It's really, really good. Nikki is a wonderful character, and so are Tori, Jill, and Danielle. As Nikki tries to juggle being popular at her new school, four hours of skating a day, mastering a double flip and making new friends, readers will laugh and sympathize with her ups and downs. A great beginning to a great series. And it really focuses on skating, and is very clear with the skating lingo. This book persuaded me to take up figure skating!

I have an 8-year-old "future Olympian" (just ask her) and this series has given her a broader look at what a committment serious skating takes. Although a bit superficial, the plots are realistic to younger children and cover some great topics (i.e. anorexia, time committment, losing touch with school friends, etc.) We are only a few books into the series, but it is really opening her eyes as to what it will take to "make it."

Excellent book for kids...

As a parent, I usually try to pre-read one book from a series before introducing it to my daughters. These days, you just can't trust everything. If this book is any indication of the rest of the series, I would heartily recommend it to anyone without reservations.

A little like the Babysitters Club, The Gymnasts, etc., this is a "club series" that focuses on serious ice skating. Children unfamiliar with ice skating terms will find them easily explained. The reality of the situation that Nikki found herself in with Tori is typical of the ice rink, but the subplots will be very familiar to those readers of Babysitters Club and The Gymnasts books - they're very predictable, as one other review said.

My children and grandchidren love this story. I bought the book to read to my youngest grandchild, who is 2 and a half. We love both the story and the pictures. We also have fun braying, barking, meowing and crowing like the heroic animals in the story. When her dad was her age we lived in Germany and visited Bremen and saw the statue of the animals.

Of all the stories my father read to me as a child, this was my favorite. Its endearing story of self-discovery is timeless, and not to mention quite humorous for a six year old boy. It reminds me of a time far less complicated and will thus always hold a special place of affection for me. This was the Catcher in the Rye of my Elementary years. I would highly recommend this to anyone with children looking for quite simply a flat out good story to read them that they will enjoy.

I just want to thank Mr. Van Patten for introducing me to his world. I'm a newbie when it comes down to reading vampire novels. I've never been one to sit still long enough to actually finish one but once I started to read his, it peaked my interest and made me want to read more. I found it very hard to put it down. From the opening sequence right through to the very end, I was hooked. Christian Brookwater's character is captivating. Following along with his journey is one that just has to be experienced and I would hope that others climb on board and join Christian in his travels.

Brookwater's Curse is a riveting, and truly fascinating journey into history from the 1800's during the slave trade to the present with a flare that is spellbinding to its readers. A story that must and should be read by and told to young and old alike. While reading the story of Christian, I was enraged, exhilarated, and enthralled with the turn of each page (to put it simply--I didn't want to put the book down). The book's cover, is very deceiving, the content of the book goes way beyond the injustice of slavery; it also brings out the "dark" side or practices from other cultures that need some rectifying. All in all, this was a delightful book and a must read for everyone. Kudos SVP, you have a gift of writing and I look forward to your next work of art. Mr. Van Patten has taken a new twist to Vampires and given the world a true literary gem. The main character Christian Brookwater has so many struggles that one can relate to. You find yourself intertwined in his adventures and unable to put this book down. I read the book non-stop and finished in under a day. Mr. Van Patten delivers just enough action and eroticism to keep the reader wanting more. The writing sytle is so visual and real that you experience everything that Christian Brookwater experiences.

I am anxiously waiting for Volume II and hopefully this will spawn a movie in the future.

This is a wonderful journey, and not to be missed.

I couldn't put it down. Brookwater's Curse Volume I is very visual, action packed, and even erotic at times, with an uncommon delivery of the necessary details for character development, that keep the reader enthralled as you get to know the characters better. Steven Van Patten has somehow mastered the paintbrush of the human mind, and in full color you are enveloped in the neck snapping twists of his never predictable plot.

Mr. Van Patten spins Vampire lore in a way that I have not seen before. I can't remember when I fell in love with my first vampire tale as I probably hadn't yet learned to talk, that said I know of what I speak in this matter. I highly recommend this rare and intelligent novel to anyone that shares a love for this kind of reading. Brookwater's Curse Volume I is a dark epic for the new age. I eagerly await the release of Volume II and all that follow.

Mr. Van Patten's work transcends the typical duplicitous vampire genre with realistic and harrowing action scenes that bounce off the page. His characters are complex, troubled, and endearing, urging you to cheer them on while they're fighting the good fight. A must-buy.

There is a lot of information contained within these pages...written by two excellent brain tanners and experienced teachers. It is the kind of book that you can go back to time and time again and find new and valuable information that you missed the first time. I do think its a little hard for the beginner to find the simple and straightforward how-to do it information in, but it is there, and it will teach you what you need to know, and then some.

"Wetscrape Braintanned Buckskin" has a particularly good bibliography, section on tool sharpening, troubleshooting, museum quality illustrations, good humor and a whole lot of excellent information. I've been brain tanning for a living for 11 years, teach it regularly and have written a book on it myself, and all I can say is that if you are considering getting this book, just do it!

I've been a Steven Kellogg fan for nearly 20 years now. His work is original, engaging, and entertaining. He does his own illustrations which "make" his stories come to life for me.

In this book by Kellogg a lonely little boy is in search of a friend. In the natural course of events the little boy either brings home or asks his mother if he can bring home animal after animal for a pet. Thus the book's title, "Can I Keep Him?" His mother's responses are typical, but the translation of her responses in her son's head (shown in picures also done by Kellogg) are hilarious!

A definite hit with children and adults alike!

Give it a try.

Definitely 5 stars.

My parents attended the same church as Dr. Hsi but this book came to me through my fiance's mother, a retired nurse in CO, who is passing this book around as a must read after receiving a copy from my parents. Through the years, she was horrified to experience the reduction in her & her peers ability to provide proper care as a result of "managed care" & opted to move into insurance rather than continuing her successful career as a nurse.
This isn't a typical reading choice for me but was eye-opening & a quick, absorbing read. I'm sure my seatmates on two different plane rides were wondering what was wrong as I dabbed at my eyes in vain to stem the flow of tears.
Decent doctoring is something we take for granted & we don't always know how or are made to feel guilty or inadequate when we press for answers or explanations from an authority figure such as an esteemed specialist or doctor. We need to push for change & I only hope that books like this become mandatory in the medical study curriculum!

To say that this is a profoundly moving work is understatement. It should be mandatory reading for any patient or care giver, but more especially for any who would be called "Healer". Simply stated ... closing the chart is a magnificient work. It will no doubt become highly acclaimed and will be appreciated by any care giver or patient in the modern world of medicine. It is rich in texture and flavor, providing a remarkable insight into the progression of change that occurs when a family is faced with a profound illness, and must come face to face with the methdologies of modern medicine. This work will provide the next level of understanding in the process of illness, such as that initiated by Norman Cousins in Anatomy of An Illness.

He describes so well what family members go through when a loved one is terminally ill. Doctors do need to look at the whole person, their family and their spiritual side and treat people holistically.
He spoke quite well of the pain that is often inflicted on those who are the most helpless by those in the position to be most helpful. This definetly is a gift to be given to those in the medical field or those who are thinking of entering it.
Steve was my doctor when I was growing up and we went to the same church. I remember praying for him when the calls would go out that he needed surgery while praying for my aunt who was terminally ill at the same time...what he describes about being a patient is not far off from what my Aunt experienced while she was hospitalized in Arizona.

As a brief patient of Dr. Hsi's and a memeber of the healthcare industry for 25 years, this book struck at the core of my very being. I not only see what he experienced everyday in my line of work but also expierienced it on a different level for myself. Anyone thinking of pursueing a career in medicine, should let this book open your eyes and your heart. It would make sense to have this be required reading for every nurse, pre-med student, intern, resident or seasoned physician. I know with some it would fall on deaf ears, however if it only made a difference in a few, what a difference it could make in so many lives.
Many thanks to Beth Corbin-Hsi, Jim Belshaw and of course Steven D. Hsi, M.D who gives us wisdom and courage through his words even now.

Before I started reading "The Commercial Real Estate Handbook for Investors," I tried to prepare myself for a "dry read". However, I was pleasantly surprised. The concepts and explanations are written in a crisp and conversational tone. The author also explains the buzz words in real estate and how it pertains to the bottom line of your investment strategy. This book has it all, from goal setting to definitions of real estate terms to sample emails that should be sent to keep a deal alive. Do yourself a favor and buy this book. The concepts are such that you can apply them to not only real estate but other types of business as well.

It's a 'must' for any collection catering to real estate readers.

The Commercial Real Estate Investor's Handbook A Step-by-Step Road Map to Financial Wealth is an in-depth guide to entering the commercial real estate market. The author takes the reader by the hand in a logical progression from understanding the market to closing the deal. The book is straight forward and makes no promises of instant profit; the author lays out the facts and lets the reader learn what is needed to undertake a commercial real estate investment. The book is written in a way that takes all the mystery out of the whole process and the reader is left feeling that commercial real estate investment can be achieved by anyone willing to follow the steps laid out in black and white.

I would recommend this book to anyone who has ever contemplated trying to enter this market. It will, at the very least, let the reader know if it is right for him or her. This book is also useful to those who have already entered the market but would like to expand into other commercial endeavors.

This is the first time that I had purchased a book, on real estate for personal use. Many years ago I took a general course on real estate which could be used for a real estate exam towards a brokers license. After the course I was not moved nor did I do well, in fact, I felt more lost after I finished.

However I have recently finished my law degree. Given that real property was a required class, and by me one of the most dreaded, due in part to my above experience. However, what caught my eye while looking for some other legal books was this clique " A step by
step Road map to Financial wealth." My first thought was it must be one of those get rich type books. However after reviewing it, I realized it was not. While reading it, I could better relate to many of the concepts, in relation to what I learned about real property, I had wished I had that book, when I took that course.

The book was clear, concise, well organized and user friendly. I really liked the chapter about due diligence, that gave me a broader understanding of it, especially as a step in dealing with real estate investing. Further much knowledge but still practical experience, and research would also be needed to formulate such a book. It was different then trying to figure out these same concepts that one would in a law book.

Yet in many ways if one becomes a real estate investor they had practical examples, such as the affirmations which were well put and setting your priorities on the ultimate goal that also could be applied to any aspect of life if the person wants to ascertain their goal/s bad enough. Meaning you have to work for it, and see through till the end. As many of these books give you the impression that things will be given to you on a silver platter, which is such a fallacy.

Further if it was easy everybody would be doing it. I also liked, the handy legal glossary in the back for reference.

However, the author did use the word we allot. I assume he was referring to himself and the attorney that wrote the welcoming forward in the initial part of the book, since there were not many other references per se on where the author, acquired all this information, nor did it say in the brief bio about the author, of any experience in the legal forum, or with real estate investing however, he did write business and instructional type manuals, which came out quite clearly in his writing. I was impressed with it and I am going to use it as a supplement in a legal real estate class. To conclude, I gave it 5 stars.

Five of five stars! This book covers the risks and rewards of real estate investing, along with types of investments, the basics of getting started, factors affecting commercial real estate values, understanding real estate market psychology, sources of financing, finding profitable deals, and financing. In short, it covers everything a beginner would need or want to know before embarking on this type of investment.

That's not all it covers. There's also information about commercial real estate loan documents, an explanation of leases, negotiating purchase agreements, managing tenants, insurance, sale of commercial real estate properties, marketing real estate properties, and taxes. Two appendices include sample lease forms. A glossary is beneficial to beginners who haven't yet mastered real estate and investment terminology.

The Commercial Real Estate Investor's Handbook: A Step by Step Road Map to Financial Wealth is definitely not boring or dry. It's an interesting, practical and informative book that anyone considering real estate investing should invest in (no pun intended).

This is a fantastic book to any business person who wants to improve their bottom line and make their advertising and marketing more measureable and accountable. Bly thoroughly covers every direct marketing medium: print, radio, tv, telemarketing and the Internet. And he shows the key differences of selling to the general consumer versuses selling to other businesses. He succinctly explains how to use direct marketing for selling services, information products, fundraising and lead generation. I especially like Chapter 5, which is all about how to measure and monitor your results so you know what's working and what isn't. I've consulted this book numerous times when creating my own promotions, especially the sections on postcards and sales letters. It's a must-have book that should be on the shelf of every business person, whether you're an experienced direct marketer or a complete newbie.

I thought this was a good reference guide that outlines the basics of direct mail as well as defines a lot of the buzzwords I was always hearing. I think the most valuable part was it gave me a place to start in learning how to design direct mail peices and gave me several tips and good ideas on what to do and what not to do. Now I know what direction I need to start focusing on. I really found the book helpful!

Robert Bly does it again in this excellent, easy-to-read book. I read it over one weekend and couldn't put it down. The language is simple, direct and honest. Examples are practical and compelling. For me, it was especially helpful because I have been engaged in Internet marketing for years and thinking about diversifying into direct marketing (DM). Well, after reading the book I realized that I have successfully executed a number of direct marketing campaigns, using the Web as a direct response tool. Additionally, he gave me new ideas to put to use and the confidence to break into new forms of the discipline. Whether or not you want to get into DM, or are a seasoned veteran, I recommend this book to broaden your knowledge base. It will certainly help you design and execute more creative and profitable campaigns, and improve your marketability in the profession.

Bob Bly has hit the cover off the ball again! This book is a no-nonsense, roll-up-your-sleeves, hold-your-hand-from A-Z look at how to make more money selling your products or services via Direct Marketing. There are many "how to" books out there that tell us what to do, but not HOW TO DO IT! This is not one of them. You will quickly learn "insider" tools and techniques that bring home the bacon no matter what you're selling. I have highly recommended Bob Bly's nuts and bolts books to my business clients for years and this one is no exception. In fact, it's a no-brainer investment.
