"Gorilla Sleepover" is a great adaptation of the "Stanley" TV story by the same name, written by Robert David. The story is
adapted by Laura Driscoll and illustrated by Alisa Klayman-Grodsky.
In this story, Stanley's friend Lester comes over for a sleepover. But he's nervous and doesn't feel comfortable sleeping away from home. The two use knowledge from "The Great Big Book of Everything" to help Lester feel more at home.
This book includes fun animal facts about gorillas and a mini-maze. The illustrations are excellent and readers will learn some really neat things, and an important lesson too. Highly recommended for all "Stanley" fans.

Most of us had our first time reading about the age of exploration in grade school, and this book will make a second look
more interesting. The author brings to light many unknowns, eccentric Europeans that risked their lives for the sake of knowledge,
fame, riches, and all of the above. It is difficult to believe that historically this era of exploration is not so long ago.
Two huge continents remained still largely unknown to the outside world until fairly recent times. The source of the Nile,
an ancient mystery was only solved around the time of the American Civil War. The author covers the well known explorers
like Pizarro, Cortez, and Cook and has a very skillful way of wandering off the storyline, in a good way. He mentions motives,
anecdotes, ties up loose ends, or updates to the present to show the significance of the subject. Even though the book is
dated, 1974, some of the theories discussed are still being debated, such as the origin and spread of syphilis, or the migration
of the early Polynesian peoples. It is difficult to find a book containing the accounts of explorers such as Burton, Speke,
and Captain James Cook.
The author also puts forth some of his own observations, one example being, that the two major cultures in the Americas at the time of the Spanish landing in the Americas, both had the myth of the light skinned, blue eyed bearded gods coming from the East, conversely Europe always had the myth that there is land to the West out in the Atlantic.
Well worth the read, for the main story or the interesting side stories

I highly recommend this book. For those of you that can read French, you are in for a treat! Many of these poems and stories
I read over 10 years ago, but they are still fresh and poignant in my mind. My favorite is Guy de Maupaussant. This is definitely
worth the investment. French poetry and stories are special in the sense that the writers have examined themselves on a philosophical
level. It almost seems as if each writer is trying to teach you something worthwhile. If you can read German, there is another
book like this one by the same company that is also dual language. Relax and enjoy a sample of the French literary world.
Note: the translations are not exact. It is highly recommended that you read it in the original language.

I have been upset with the laziness of the publishers. As a publisher myself, and very happy to be a member of Amazon Advantage,
readers should understand that publishers can, at no cost, enter the Table of Contents, the Author's Biography, Publisher's
Comments, and short editorial reviews of the book by others. They can also send the book to Amazon as a candidate for full
"Inside the Book" cross-indexing.
Since this publisher has failed abysmally to respect the potential buyer and reader, and since the author merits better, below I am simply going to provide the chapter headings and the ten commandments. Buy the book if you need to, but in my view, this brilliant author has not been well-served by his publisher.

The author is compelling and sensible. I am personally thrilled to see that in addition to the success of Paul Hawken and the others in the Natural Capital Institute, that biomimicry, benevolent bacteria, green chemistry, and sustainable design are coming into their own. We have seven years from today to stop emission growth.

I was crew chief on the Army-Lockheed YO-3A in Vietnam 1970-71. The 9 planes operating in Vietnam were silent and only operated
at night. They were never shot down or took a round. This will come as a surprise to many, but the YO-3A had a 2nd generation
NVAP (night vision scope,) infrared illuminator and a laser target designator. Non of these aircraft ever took a round or
were shot down in 14 months of operation during the Vietnam War. This was the only Lockheed Missiles and Space Corporation
airplane ever built. It was also the only airplane that was built specifically for the U.S. Army. After Vietnam, 2 of
the planes, 006 and 007 effectively operated for the Louisiana Wild Life and Fisheries to nap illegal shrimpers. The planes
were then acquired by the FBI and were used in the Patty Hearst case and other kidnapping and extortion cases. NASA still
operates one YO-3A for rotorcraft acoustic research. YO-3A 69-18007 is undergoing restoration to flight status at Cable
Airport, Upland California. Check out these websites for more information: www.yo-3a.com, www.prizecrew.org, www.quietaircraft.org

No matter the degree of knowledge of music, if you are interested in music as an art form, or if it is your career or simply
your passion, you should invest in this book. It covers every imaginable subject on music, from terms to composers. I cannot
tell you how many times I have referred to this book, whether to understand a concept better, to research the works of Benjamin
Britten, or find out what a Gora is. This book has useful illustrations, but puts more emphasis on conservation of space
in order to include a huge range of entries.

In this brilliant book, Stanley Hoffmann wrote, "the road selected by the United States was that of a declaration of `war'
against terrorism, the creation of the notion of `illegal combatants', and the assimilation of states suspected of sheltering
terrorists to the terrorists themselves. This was playing into their hands." Instead of focusing on getting Al Qa'ida, this
road widened the war unnecessarily in space and time.
About the occupation of Iraq, Hoffmann noted, "There are good reasons for calling for the end of the occupation. As in Palestine, the occupation is the main cause of the current troubles (which does not mean that they will end if we leave; but whatever we do to try to resolve the internal conflicts is likely to backfire). Continuing U.S. military control, direct or indirect, will feed anti-Americanism (as in post-1965 South Vietnam) and provide a training and breeding ground for terrorism, native and from other countries. American interests would be better served by a shift of U.S. resources toward ... the fight against al Qaeda and its allies around the world - who have become more diversified and decentralized and continue to receive manpower and support from schools and factions in officially pro-American states such as Saudi Arabia and Pakistan. ... It is time to refocus the struggle against terrorism, by giving priority to the fight against Islamic jihadists (the most dangerous for U.S. and Western interests), and by spending far more energy on a permanent solution to the Palestinian problem, along the lines almost agreed upon at Taba in 2001 and advocated by the Geneva informal alliance of Palestinians and Israelis, as well as by Jimmy Carter."
He urges us all, "In the case of the Middle East, an exit from Iraq, combined with a new effort by the U.S., the U.N., the EU, and Russia to end the Israeli occupation of Palestinian lands and to create a livable Palestinian state, would mark a return to reality, to good sense, and to morality."
He concludes, "Nothing wholly good can come out of a war that resulted from a mix of self-deception and deliberate deception, waged in a part of the world in which alien control has for a long time fostered turmoil and tragedy. The presence of terrorism is not an invitation to empire, but an incentive for finding policies that reduce its appeal, and for pursuing the terrorists in ways that do not help them multiply."

Brilliant survey of current US foreign policy

Stanley Hoffmann, a Professor at Harvard University and the author of many books on international affairs, has written a very
insightful book on current US foreign policy. He looks at the Franco-American dispute, the question of US imperialism, 9/11,
the preparations for the attack on Iraq, the war and the subsequent occupation, and the future of the international system.
He writes that after 9/11, "the road selected by the United States was that of a declaration of `war' against terrorism, the creation of the notion of `illegal combatants', and the assimilation of states suspected of sheltering terrorists to the terrorists themselves. This was playing into their hands."
He suggests, "It is time to refocus the struggle against terrorism, by giving priority to the fight against Islamic jihadists (the most dangerous for U.S. and Western interests), and by spending far more energy on a permanent solution to the Palestinian problem, along the lines almost agreed upon at Taba in 2001 and advocated by the Geneva informal alliance of Palestinians and Israelis, as well as by Jimmy Carter."

We do indeed need to focus on defeating Islamic jihadists. The barbaric bombing of Londoners on Thursday 7 July is to be utterly condemned, without qualification. The inhuman fascists who carried out, or connived in, these acts, wish to push us into a dark age of unreason and fear. They will try to blame their inhumanity on others. But terrorists are responsible for their crimes and we must hold them to account. There can be no excuses given. All of us must assist to unmask these mass murderers.

I have been in this industry for many many years, working all over the world, when I read this book I especially liked the part on HOW TO STAFF A SALON " because you can have all the money in the world but if you don't have the right staff your business will never make it"
The management section is a must for manager's as it will help in understanding not only the paper work side to management but gives activities to do eg. a check list to motivating staff.
once you buy this book all the information you need to create the best business is at your fingertips time and time again
