"How I Found Livingstone" is the first person account of journalist Henry Stanley who was assigned to go find Livingstone, who had been missing for two years in Central Africa and was presumed by some to be dead. It's an interesting read, not just for the story that Stanley thinks he is telling about Central Africa, but for the implicit story of Stanley himself, including his own attitudes. It's enough to make you want to build a time machine so you can go back in time and smack him. And of course Stanley is telling tell tales for his audience too. Should be read in conjunction with a good work of history to put this self-absorbed cad in context.

The five stars are for the edition, which is hard cover with color illustrations and maps as well as more current photographs of the places that are discussed in Stanley's book. You need a good reason to buy a book edition, because you can download Stanley's entire book for free through Google Books. I started to do this but decided that I wanted a book form rather than 800 printer pages, and I think I got my money's worth.

The issue addressed here has created much pain and disorganization in families. The book's importance lies in the authors' unique and excellent insights into the internal dynamics of individuals involved in substance abuse, and how those personal dynamics lock them into old and unfulfillable expectations. For anyone involved in treating the abuser, it provides critical guildelines for successful intervention.

My kids love George Edward Stanley's Third Grade Detectives. Now, all they talk about is solving mysteries with science, just like forensic scientists do. They can't get enough of these great books.

The Codebreaker Kids is very funny. I read this because my 4thgrade teacher has a copy and she let me read it. My 4th grade teacher[...] knows George Edward Stanley. My teacher grew up in Lawton, Oklahoma, and G.E. Stanley lives there now. George Edward Stanley also wrote some of the 'M.T. Coffin' books. You can check out M.T. Coffin books right here on Amazon.com!

Stan Gib has produced a more than satisfactory topical listing for automobiles, unfortunately it stops at 2004 for this edition. Hopefully there will be an update to follow. The issue only provides Stan Gib numbers, for the identifiers, altough the year and approximate date is given, so that a Scott or other catalog user can cross reference.

Collins Bible Handbook is an excellent tool for teaching!

The Collins Bible Handbook is a wonderful way to introduce each book of the Bible. With summary text, pictures, and scripture, one open page gives the student a quick and precise over view of that Book. I first used it in 1990 while teaching an Old Testament class of 10th graders, and I still find the book valuable now that I am teaching middle school students.

Great catalog for british empire stamps

Very good catalog for British Empire stamps.
Listings are more detailed ... and prices more realistic (market-wise) than the US Scott catalogs. Pages are beautiful, color pages printed on glossy paper and with a strong, hard-cover book cover.
Recommended.
