This is a great guide book. Stanley Hibbs's book is effective and concise. The lay person can take very real and practical steps to a full, anxiety-free life. Sufferers CAN recover from anxiety and fears, such as fear of flying, fear of freeway driving, and panic attacks.

Apache Warrior Hawk by George Stanley is a touching story that appeals to everyone, including those who may not otherwise be interested in Native American culture. Stanley presents an interesting approach to historical fiction. The author's expertise on the subject matter gives this work authenticity. Apache Warrior Hawk is highly entertaining, and never predictable. It has a surprise ending that will leave you intrigued and wanting more. A definite page-turner!

Hyman in the introduction to this book points out what he sees to be as a major change which occurred in the world of criticism in the quarter century previous to his writing. From 1930 to 1955 as Hyman sees it Criticism ceased to be primarily an intuitive exercise of amateurs, however brilliant. The intutions of an Aristotle and Coleridge began to be supplemented by critics who began to use extra- literary knowledge, mainly from the humanities and social sciences to bolster and enhance their readings. He especially seems to focus on the new forms of knowledge given by psychology, psychoanalytic techniques, Gestalt, Freudian and Jungian theory. But he also gives weight to the knoweldge of our own humanity which has greatly expanded through the development of the Social Sciences. He focuses on the work of ten critics, Yvor Winters, Van Wyck Brooks, Maud Bodkin, R.P.Blackmur, I.A.Richards,T.S. Eliot,Constance Rourke, Caroline Spurgeon, William Empson, Kenneth Burke. He speaks about four great thinkers as having contributed to our new conception of humanity. "From Darwin the view of man as part of the natural order, and of culture as an evolutionary development. From Marx, the concept of literature as reflecting, in however complex and indirect fashion, the social and productive relations of its time. From Freud, the concept of literature as the disguised expression and fulfillment of repressed wishes, on the analogy of dreams, with thse disguises operating in accord with known principles; ..From Frazer, the view of primitive magic, myth, and ritual underlying the most transcendent literary patterns and themes. He also cites John Dewey's reading of literary activity as having a continuity with other forms of human activity operating by the same laws.
This is a detailed intelligent critical reading of ten important critics at a time before literary texts came to be thought of as subjects for deconstruction into meaninglessness.

Who is Uncle Frank?

Quite astonishing, wrote one critic, and this, often very dreamy, book of 1915!!! is exactly this. I am not a movie critic, just a reader and this book was a delight to read. It deals about the era of the silent movies, around 1915 when there were no Rambos or Terminators running across the screen with Qsound and computerised warping effects. It was the time when everything had to be expressed in gestures, like a moving picture book, because of the lack of sound.
The author therefore comes with a lot of interesting theories and opinions of how a story could and should be elegantly communicated in a moving picture. He even comes up with a theory of why California is as crazy as Hollywood seems to most of us now.
This work has to be a classic of movie pictures, just like The Art of War for the military, or Keynes for economics, and for people that are, like me, just interested readers of all kind of subjects, also highly recommended.

Don't skip the introductions and preface - they present an excellent overview of what artists' are and what they can provide for creative people. The standardized format of the individual entries and the categorized indices make it easy to narrow your choices and decide which communities you want to find more about.
