Good intro to a Spirit Filled Life

I have watched Dr. Stanley on television a few times, but I have never read any of his books. The book reads much the way he speaks.

The book gives a brief overview of what it means to live a Spirit filled life. It also provides some examples from Dr. Stanley's life. Finally, it gives some details as to how to open yourself up to living the Spirit filled life.

This book was easy to read and understand. The book explains many of the scriptures that speak about Spirit filled living. It also uses stories and events from Dr. Stanley's life to demonstrate the scripture meaning. There is also a chapter about Spiritual gifts.

The key is simply to recognize that all believers have the Holy Spirit living within them. Once you realize and understand and accept this, you will know what to look for and to listen for to be in obedience to the will of God.

I would recommend this book to anyone looking to initiate or to further their study of a Spirit filled life.

Really gives a greater understanding of the Holy Spirit. I love how Mr. Stanley provides verses along with what he is writing about. Reading the book was like a huge epiphany, it really clarified alot of things for me. I think it is a "must read" book.

This book is an excellent read! It is both informative and practical as Dr. Stanley walks you through his personal discovery of the Holy Spirit in his own Christian experience. In his trademark conversational style, he helps you to understand why an understanding of the Holy Spirit is perhaps the most important component of your Christian walk, second only to receiving salvation itself. Dr. Stanley provides plenty of scriptural support and uses excellent analogies. He gives many actual, albeit safe, disclosures from from his own life. You almost get the sense that you are having a personal one-on-one conversation with him. One of the things that I really liked is that at the end of the each chapter, he gave a list of resources that a person could go to for additional information, as well as a list of thought provoking "think about it" questions. Those questions make this an excellent book for a small group discussion or personal reflection.

The Only Way to a Fruitful and Fulfilling Christian Life

Learning to walk with Christ is the adventure of a lifetime! It is, indeed, the reason we were made, and makes our lives full of purpose! To know Him intimately involved in each day makes even the trials that come have meaning, realizing that good can come from all that is allowed to touch us. It gives us hope and comfort knowing He is with us at ALL times, guiding and making the way for us, even when we cannot see anything except what is right in front of our eyes. Knowing He has all things under His control gives peace and comfort. He sustains and encourages, because He loves us more dearly than we can imagine and wants only good to come from even the adversities. Growing more deeply into Him, becoming completely dependent as children, makes us ripe for His best use of our lives, as others see Him shine through us. There must be more of Him and less of us. This book has changed my life and led to more answered prayer than I ever dreamed possible, even supernatural interventions that only He could have arranged or accomplished. Thus, I now have intimate stories of my Savior, Who leads me beside the still waters, even through the storms of life. That, and I am presently disabled from a series of traumas, but at peace, knowing I am in the center of His will for my life, surrendered to His Plan.

The table of contents quickly reveals that this is a thorough and concentrated resource for facing the challenging questions of contemporary christian life. The wealth of information is like an encyclopedia. It's my favorite reference for personal study as well as Bible study group discussions when we get caught on topics beyond our understanding. As a Christian counselor I know how tough topics are often avoided in our culture. Dr. Stanley tackles them with forthrightness and practicality. I especially appreciate how he treats the difficult topic of suicide, offering compassionate and clinically sound tips for those feeling so desperate and for those who love them.

For those of us who appreciate Charles Stanley for his straight talk, Biblically sound, informative teachings with a conversational practicality, he does not disappoint. And yes, he keeps to his style of inviting us to grow. He shares personal anecdotes to enhance his commentary. I'm a lifelong Lutheran and I believe that this book has so much to offer that it transcends theological differences.

On the practical side, I like that the scriptural reference is fully provided for each topic. As one with a penchant for note taking, the wide margins are generous. The paper has a strong feel and holds up to my heavier handwriting. The new graphics (compared to the HC 1995 version) offer a more eye friendly contemporary feel. There's a thorough index, thankfully with generous margins for personal additions. I can find something quick and not try the patience of the group members as I search for that perfect passage that "I know is in here somewhere." Considering the "weight" of the material presented I like that it's light enough to carry to Bible study. Your library won't be complete without this book.

Charles Stanley is currently my favorite preacher. He teaches better about God and things about christianity more than any other preacher could. When I bought this book, I was so happy with it. I knew I was going to love it because I love all Charles' books, but this was 5 times as greater than I thought it would be! I recommend for all levels. It's great because each topic you want, you look it up and little verses about that topic will be in there. Great book for Charles lovers!

I have attended a few of Charles Stanley's program tapings in Atlanta, GA at the First Baptist Church of Atlanta. I have also enjoyed his programs on television as well as reading some of his books. If you are wanting a reading that will put things into plain english then this book is for you. Charles Stanley is an ordained Baptist Pastor yet he does not really preach to you. To me he is more of a teacher and put things into day to day english that even I can understand. He doesn't do the fire and brimstone preaching - He talks to you whether on tv or books as if he is talking in plain english just to you. He explains in details things you might not understand or just reiterates things you already know. So if you are ready to sit down and meditate on God's word then this is for you.

this is a great phenomenal saga. an adventure that rarely successfully delivered with a pen. 'the last hero' is a modern classic that should be on your bookshelf with 'lonesome dove', 'brules', 'shantaram', 'the kite runner', stephen hunter's 'point of impact' swagger series, robert ludlum's genuine creations from 'the gemini contender' to 'the matarese circle', all of a. j. quinnelle's novels, all of louis la'mor's westerns....they are all good memories, touched your soul and made your life more vividly colorful.

This book is quite simply amazing. From the first page you are hooked and become an invisible member of the crew hacking your own way through the Ituri Forest. Stanley is brought to life along with many other real-life people, including Tipoo Tib, the slave dealer. Read this book and you will never forget it, the whole atmosphere of unexplored Africa and its hidden tribes will be with you always. The unknown beauty of the Congo River and its people take you into a new world with different standards, different morales and a very different slant on life. The actions of Emin Pasha will move you to tears and the whole experience of this book is one that every person should enjoy.

Compulsively readable, thrilling story, vivid evocation of darkest Africa and a potrait of Henry Morgan Stanley that leaps right of the page and grabs you by the throat, this story of the insane expedtion to rescue Emin Pasha's people from the conquering dervishes is everything you want a serious book of historical fiction to be. Especially recommended for those interested in the literature of exploration and discovery into land's unkown in the Western world in the 19th century. How many 700+ page books are you sorry to see come to an end? This is such a one. Enjoy.

This awesome novel of exploration into Central Africa during a time of civil unrest is by far one of the best books I have ever read. The characters are well developed and the tale gripping, based on actual historical events, the novel is a must read. Once you pick it up, you will not want to put it down. Since reading this novel, I have acquired all, of the late, Peter Forbath's novels. His vivid detail of the surroundings, the authority figure that demostrates both compassion and understanding as well as harsh punishments, and the intertwining of the characters' lives make this an amazing tale of Central Africa events in the late 1800's.

Wonderfully Written Historic Novel

The story told in "The Last Hero" is that of Sir Henry Morton Stanley (of "Dr. Livingstone, I presume?" fame, but that's another story) who, in 1885 organized and led a mission to rescue Emin Pasha, governor of Equatoria, the southernmost province of the Egyptian Sudan, which was surrounded by the Mahdist uprising. Amazingly, Stanley decided to approach Equatoria from the Atlantic side of Africa by going up the Congo river and overland through central African forest. The expedition crossed hundreds of miles of then-unknown Africa, encountering every obstacle and difficulty along the way. The eventual end of the mission is one of history's great ironies, but I don't want to give anything away.

"The Last Hero" is a very well-written adventure story, all the more interesting because it is true. My only complaint (a very minor one) concerns the absence of notes and bibliography which could have given some historical documentation and sources.

Another good book is "The River Congo: The Discovery, Exploration and Exploitation of the World's Most Dramatic River" (nonfiction) which is also by Peter Forbath (a journalist who reported on Africa). Henry Morton Stanley was also a bestselling author, he wrote: "How I Found Livingstone" (1872); "Through the Dark Continent" (1878); and "In Darkest Africa" (1890).

Good or bad?

Review Date: 2008-11-17
The effect of Christian missionaries on indigenous cultures is a very controversial subject, and I'm not really sure where I stand. I was hoping this book would help me make a decision, but I think now I'm even more uncertain. Throughout the story I could not decide if what Stan and his team were doing was a good thing or a bad thing. Near the beginning I perceived him rather negatively, but as the story went along, I began to feel greater sympathy for him and his cause and near the end felt like, though they may have had some negative effects, the ultimate effect was good, especially the apparent liberation from an "oppressive, deadly religion".

And then I read the epilogue. I really wonder why Richardson put this here in the manner presented. It pretty much tells just another tale of a way of life destroyed forever and forced into the modern world that it isn't made to be a part of, causing supreme detriment. This basically destroys every prior notion I held of Stan and his team having a positive effect despite the damage done in the story. However, Richardson does all this in two pages and doesn't make the connection to Stan, basically telling the reader that Stan's effect was good so that these people can face the modern world with the goodness of Christianity, etc. But I wonder, did Richardson neglect the details of someone else interfering, or is it Stan and his team who cause this destruction?

If you believe the tribes have gained eternal life, then I suppose the issue is settled. But if you're not so sure and/or you think any damage done could be justified by the "hope of eternal life", then it's not so clear. And I know Richardson's position of: someone's going into these tribes, isn't it best that good people go in first? That's a respectable position, I suppose, but there is enough controversy that I can't decide where to stand on the issue.

As a side note on the book, one thing I wonder is how exactly Richardson reads peoples minds like only God or a novel writer could do. This also really brings into question for me just how legitimate this account is, or whether he tried his best to convey what he thought they would be thinking, or if he was inspired by the holy spirit to write something otherwise unknowable to his mind, or if maybe some of this is pure fabrication serving as a piece of propaganda (surely some of it is true, no doubt) meant to inspire Christians to engage in missionary endeavors "that will make your life like a good novel".

Whatever the case, Lords of the Earth is an interesting story and a worth-while read, but is the effect of the missionaries detailed good or bad? Some of both for sure, but ultimately (and regardless of this accounts reliability), who knows?

Light into darkness

"Lords of the Earth" is the term the Yali warriors use to describe themselves. They live in the Heluk valley in Irian Jaya, and the only knowledge of them to reach the outside world are the dark rumors of the cannibals beyond the mountains. The first section of the book is about them, their customs, and the awful fear and darkness they lived in. Don Richardson does a great job portraying a people bound by chains of sin, and longing for release. The horror of their pain is graphic, and not suitable to be read to younger children.

The second part of the book describes the early life of Stan Dale, his conversion, and his burden for those in darkness. He is drawn as a determined man, physically strong and fit, with firm convictions.

The book goes on to tell of Stan's coming to the Yali people. How a strange story begins over his identity, protecting his life. How the first few Yali Christians were killed, and later Stan and a fellow missionary were brutally murdered. How another missionary family died in a plane crash, except for the nine-year-old son, whose friendship with the Yali paves the way for them to turn to Christ.

The book reminded me Christ's words in John 12:24, "Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit." On earth, Stan Dale never saw the fruit his life and death brought forth, but he will rejoice in heaven with the Yali that are there through his witness.

A whole new perspective of sex in Christian marriage.
Helpful Votes: 1 out of 1 total.
Review Date: 2008-10-10
This is a wonderful book that explores the purpose and potential of marital sex from a distinctly Christian perspective. I have read a number of other books from various Christian authors (including the Penners, the Parrotts, Dr. Rosenau, and others), which both directly or indirectly discus the marital sexual relationship, and I have never seen it presented in quite this way.

The author states that this book was written to address the still very common problem of unsatisfactory sexual relationships in Christian marriage - even though Christians, in general, know and believe that sex is a good and God ordained thing, and despite the deluge of information available to confront sexual dysfunction and to help enhance sexual pleasure. The author says that what he sees consistently with his clients is that "something big is still missing".

The basic premise of this book is that sex is not just a good and enjoyable aspect of the marriage relationship, but is, in fact, a holy and sacred act: an act whose purpose and goal is unity and oneness, and through which the full nature of God and his relationship to His church is revealed. Besides explaining the premise and the ideal, the author also spends a great deal of time discussing forces - both external (society, etc.) and internal (fear, etc.) - that keep us from experiencing all the God has designed for marital sexual intimacy.

I highly recommend this book. Read it with your spouse. Talk about it and go over the discussion questions. It has the potential to change everything you ever thought about sex.

...wow... a book for those who have everything. For those who think there is nothing new to learn & have had a nice time in marriage & have had a few rocks to climb over, this book is for everyone. Look under every rock, follow the author down a sometimes uncomfortable path and you will have a nicely ironed out relationship. Enjoyable quotes and good flow. Enjoyed the Dick Davidson quotes.

If the idea of sacred sex is totally foreign to you, you need this book. I bought one based on the previous reviews (see below) and was looking to improve my overall relationship with my husband of 27 years for Christ's glory. I give my husband, a bible teacher, credit for teaching me on many levels how our marriage is a priceless picture of Jesus and His bride. Regarding this book, the humor was a distraction and undermined an otherwise holy message. Quoting W.C. Fields, Marilyn Monroe, Billy Crystal and the like seemed contrary to the reverence the title suggests. The author was *not* crude or vulgar. I just recommend you read the excerpts Amazon offers on this book before purchasing. If the humor you see there works for you, I came away appreciating: 1) Mrs. Gardner's brief contributions and 2) the author's comment of how desecrated sex has become. You might try Sacred Marriage.

We recently used Sacred Sex in a human sexuality class in graduate school. Fantastic choice! The overall class consensus was that not only was this book extremely helpful for us individually as we prepare to become professional counselors and wrestle with our own "theology of sex," but it will also be an invaluable resource for those we minister to in the future. This is not a book on "sexual technique" (there is an over abundance of those). Instead, Sacred Sex leads the reader on a unique yet vital journey into "Why God created sex in the first place" and helps them understand (in very practical ways) how to apply those discoveries to their own lives and marriages. We also greatly enjoyed the author's sense of humor. As they say, Sacred Sex is "A Must Read!"

A Good Dose of Belly Laughter -- with Reverence!

Review Date: 2007-05-04
Dr. Gardner quotes the great C.S. Lewis as saying, "Nothing is more needed on the whole subject of sex than a good dose of belly laughter." I couldn't agree more. And Gardner provides that without EVER being disrespectful, crude, vulgar, or offensive. It seems to me that the goal of Sacred Sex is to help couples experience the total JOY that God, the Creator or sex, intended for his married children. This book helps couples realize that sex is not primarily about pleasure or procreation, which is the focus of most books on sex. Rather, it is about "oneness;" and true oneness leads to deep and abiding joy.

Gardner also cites the renowned Dr. Howard Hendricks as saying, "We should not be embarrassed to discuss what God was not embarrassed to create." This book will help Believers get over their embarrassment of s-e-x as it brings a healthy amount of humor to a very sacred subject and provides excellent tools for couples to discuss this very sacred act. Readers will greatly benefit from the author's challenge to approach every aspect of their sex lives with the question, "Will this make us more 'one,' or will this drive us apart?"

Sacred Sex is a great balance of Scriptural truth, challenge to change, practical wisdom, reverence for the "Marriage Bed," and God-honoring fun! Couples should buy it, read it together, and Celebrate Oneness in Marriage the way God intended!

This book is full of wonderful images and information on the stunning Cassini mission. I could only dream of seeing such images when I was a kid caught up in the space program in the 50s and 60s. I think about how much the great pioneers, from Galileo to Carl Sagan, would have loved these images. There have been many more extraordinary images sent back from Cassini since this book was published, so I beg the authors to follow up with a second edition!

For me this is a superb collection of images and text relating to our more "up to the minute" knowledge of the ringed planet and it's accompanying constellation of moons and moonlets, the slightly oversized format is ideal for viewing this style of photography, in that it allows you to get some grasp of the scope and scale involved in the outer planets. We are given a window out of science fiction into the more breathtaking realm of natural beauty. More dazzling to the eye than Jupiter, Saturn captures the imagination for me like no other world and this book shares the amazing images beamed back to us from nearly unimaginable distances and makes the unfamilier seem all the more majestic and awe inspiring. What an author. Dr. Stanley grasps the purpose for goals in this book so well that I could not help but start setting them in my life immediately. As a result, I have not drank in excess for over a year. Primarily because I'm too busy having a "go" at accomplishing my goals. It's important to note that they need to take part in filling our lives with needful action. Action that makes our day our years and our lives.

This book by Dr. Stanley is like God's roadmap to success. The book reads like a how to book for success. Dr. Stanley doesn't just talk pie in the sky theology that only seminary students understand. He breaks down the issue into several bite size chunks to make the issue easier to understand. He then gives the reader a workable plan of implementation to make success happen. The material is also written in such a way it is easy to understand. The material flows easily from one subject to the other.

There is one thing that makes this book radically different than the tons of other self help books. This one is very grounded in the word of GOD. Each of his suggestions come from a verse in the bible. To me such references give his insights the ultimate validation.

As Christians we all tend to just coast through life in the pursuit to "be like Christ", but never have any real goals that we strive for. This book helps you define goals for all areas of your life and motivate you to work towards them. It doesn't matter if you are a missionary, a stay-at-home mom or a corporate worker, this book will have a major impact in your life. It sure did for me! I highly recommend it.

I really enjoyed this book! It was more of a devotional book than anything else, touching on the principles of reaching true happiness, success, and evils such as greed and being negative. Success God's Way reminded me that in order to have true success one has to put God first and everything else will fall into place. I have now adapted one of the techniques that Dr. Stanley stated in the ladder part of his book, which is prioritize the initiatives and goals that you want to accomplish for the next day on a flash card before you go to bed and then put it in your pocket throughout the whole day. It is amazing how much more one can stay on task. The true examination I believe that this book illustrates is are one's goals Godly purposed goals striving to go along with God's plan, or are they individualized goals that do not fit in God's initiative, which makes their purpose lost and unmeaningful? Definately read Success God's Way!!!!!

Once again, Stanley has written a down-to-earth book with practical advice. The Lord's definition and way of success radically differs from the world, and Stanley encourages us to focus on how precious we really are to God.

Among the many excellent points Stanley offers are:

1. God's ways are different from the world's ways.
2. Principles of goal-setting.
3. Ask God for guidance and leadership when goal-setting.
4. Keys to good time management.
5. Time wasters to avoid.
6. Keys for successful believing.
7. Principles about persistence.
8. Trust God to order your steps and arrange the details of your life!

Again, these are just a few of the many excellent topics covered in the book. Highly recommended and is an excellent supplement to the Bible!

This Perry Mason book is a suspenseful action thriller and a spectacular page turner. "The Case of The Deadly Toy" is about a woman, Norda Alison who is convicted of murder after her ex-fiancé is found dead and the murder weapon is found hidden under her pillow. This book is very well written and keeps you clueless of the real murderer until the last few pages in the book. Norda Allison is the victim of a conspiracy between her ex-fiancés former wife and her husband. Perry Mason does a great job keeping the reader active and having new suspenseful ideas on every page. Perry, his secretary Debra, his close friend and detective Paul Drake do a great job solving the mystery after all hope is lost. The book is very exciting after Norda's ex-fiancés former wife's son fires a gun shot heard early in the morning and Norda's ex-fiancé is found dead the next morning. I recommend this book to anyone who likes mystery books and I think everyone will love and cherish this book.

Mervin Selkirk is a wealthy man used to getting what he wants. He uses a campaign of terror to intimidate his ex-fiancé Norda Allison. He is in a protracted fight with his ex-wife, Lorraine Jennings, over their seven-year-old son. He also set up an ambush that allowed him to sucker punch a man with a pair of brass knuckles and break his jaw. Yes, Mervin is quite a guy, and it is not much of surprise when he turns up dead. The police decide to point the finger at Norda Allison, but she has Perry Mason on her side. With the help of Paul Drake and Della Street, Perry slowly uncovers the truth of what really happened to Selkirk.

This book is a classic mystery tale with excellent courtroom scenes. The setup is quick and interesting, and the investigation uncovers a terrific maze of clues and red herrings. Perry is obviously the star character and he is highly intelligent, driven to succeed, and quite funny at times. The author was an attorney himself, and that undoubtedly helps make the courtroom scenes so entertaining. The plot moves along briskly, at just over 200 pages there is little room for fat in the story.

Reading a Perry Mason novel is kind of like going to a Holiday Inn. They're all pretty much the same, and if you like one you'll probably like them all. That's no insult, because I happen to enjoy the series. For newcomers, this volume is as good as any for an entry point. If you're a fan, then you'll be perfectly at home with Perry, Della, Paul Drake, and even the ever-ineffectual Hamilton Burger. This book is not likely to help you think deep thoughts, but it's a highly enjoyable read that will entertain for several hours.

This is a wonderful mystery laced with humor. And the solution to the mystery is impossible to figure out...however, when you finish the book, and go back over some passages, you have to admit that all the clues were there.

Whenever I finish a Perry Mason, I want to start another (with the determination that this time I will solve the mystery before Mason.)
I feel the same way about Nero Wolfe mysteries such asBlack Orchids (Nero Wolfe Mysteries).

The 'Foreword' is dedicated to Lester Adelson, M.D. who was then working with the coroner of Cuyahoga County in Cleveland Ohio. Legal medicine and autopsies help the living. Dr. Adelson believes his allegiance is to the TRUTH, not to the side that hired him. A Medical Examiner should study the dead to help the living. Murder cases are but a small fraction compared to accidental deaths (traffic, industrial, or at home). Suicide is much more frequent than murder. Sudden deaths can appear to be suicide, homicide, or accidental. Unsuspected infectious diseases are one threat to the community. The forensic pathologist is important to the public interest, and should be an impartial fact-finder.

Mervin Selkirk is conversing with Norda Allison when he slaps his seven-year old son Robert for interrupting. Suddenly Norda sees the sadistic streak behind the mask of smiling politeness and affability over the selfish personality. Norda dislikes this discipline but Mervin says she's a "softie". The result is the breaking of their engagement. A few days later Mervin punches Norda's boyfriend, Nate Benedict, in a restaurant. Mervin explains it as self-defense and his friends there back his story. Later Norda gets anonymous letters about suitors who killed former fiancees. The postal authorities couldn't catch the sender. Mervin's previous wife, Lorraine Selkirk Jennings, tells of a toy printing machine; this is enough for a search warrant on Mervin. The toy printing press doesn't match. His first wife tells of Mervin's ruthlessness and cleverness, and the power of his family. Then Lorraine sends a flight ticket to arrange for a meeting in person. The Jennings surprise Norda with their plans; is this some sort of trick? They have an excuse for Robert's absence. [Did you suspect anything?]

Something happens during the night, Norda packs and leaves, then visits Perry Mason to tell of the problems. The investigation does not agree with Norda's claims. Something's wrong here. The mystery deepens when a gun is found in the bed where Norda Allison slept. The police were called and took Norda in for questioning. We soon learn the reason for this activity: Mervin Selkirk was found shot dead in his car, parked at the Country Club. Perry is visited by Nate Benedict, who has a permit to carry the gun he brought on his flight from San Francisco. Nate also owns a gun like the murder weapon. Perry meets Mervin's father Horace Livermore Selkirk, as unscrupulous as he is powerful, and he is very powerful. Perry and Della use a ruse to interview Robert's baby-sitter. By following Barton Jennings they find a clue to where Robert was taken. New facts are discovered to complicate the mystery. Chapter 12 starts to uncover the mystery and the disappearance of Robert. Perry meets the young woman who was placed in charge, and talks to her about the laws and her actions.

The Preliminary Hearing starts in Chapter 14. Perry's cross-examination of Sgt. Holcomb raises questions about the prosecution's theory of the crime. Other facts are brought out in the testimonies to clarify the question of guilt. But there is a new fact that connects Norda to the dead body of Mervin! The judge calls for a conference at the noon recess and there is a new development that could free Perry's client. But a shocking surprise shakes Horace Selkirk. Hamilton Burger brings in his surprise witness who was at the Country Club parking lot (Chapter 17). Perry's cross-examination of Millicent Bailey neutralizes her testimony. Then Barton Jennings appears as a witness, and tells of what he knows. Perry's cross-examination has this witness contradicting his testimony. Then another witness is recalled so Perry can question her. Now there is another material fact that is brought out. Norda is released from custody. The last chapter resolves the outstanding questions and explains the unknown events. Erle Stanley Gardner describes the corrupt and powerful people who run society, albeit in fiction. Like other novels, the courtroom scenes are the dramatic high points.

This book is helpful and wonderful in reminding us that God is in control of every situation. The photography throughout the book, which was done by the author, is also a beautiful reminder of God's magnificence in the world. The book is easy, quick reading but still has a powerful, profound message to deliver. I recommend this book for everyone.

The whole theory of God is in control of every single thing amazes me. Is He is control of the abortionist hand as he rips the baby from the womb? Free will is a part of this world. So I suppose most would say when someone dies at an early age the old adage of "well, it must have been Gods will" tell that to that persons children, that will really help out in their relationship with God. People wake up, quit giving credit to God for things that we as humans have goofed up ourselves. Everything that happens doesn't mean it is Gods will just because it happened and He didn't stop it. Was it His will for the abortion law to pass? No, because that would go against His word, but it did pass didn't it? So what happened? We as children of the most high God have a responsibility to utilize the weapons of warfare He left us such as His and The Holy Spirit. We need to rise up and come against such tragedies in prayer and stop giving God credit for bad things in our lives. Satan is the one who comes to kill steal and destroy....Not God. Read john 10:10 satan and God are not co-conspirators working togethor to refine our character and teach us lessons etc read eph 4:11 If God is in total absolute control of every little thing, then He's not doing such a great job is He? This world is full of a lot of bad things and I refuse to believe God is up and heaven and is controlling the shooter and he kills kids in a school...makes no sense. Anyway I would recommend reading the b ook :God is not your problem" by Billy Joe Daughtery It addresses many things such as the sovereignty of God etc amazing book in my opinion...

This is a wonderful book that just opens up some insight into the reality of our relationship with God. He is so great and yes in the end He really does have all control if we just allow it

Rover1 asks in his/her review if " God is in control of the abortionists hand as he rips the baby from the womb". The way he/she structured the question reminds me of the old Groucho Marx joke " have you stopped beating your wife?" It is a "no-win" question, and reveals Rover's misunderstanding of Christian theology.. If you say "yes", then God becomes an accomplice to murder(abortion). If you say "no", then God has no control. The question should be: Is it within God's will that the abortionist be given the opportunity to abort the baby?' This places the guilt on the proper shoulders ( the abortionist's) , but still recognizes God's omniscience/omnipotence. God does not want the abortionist to do it, but gives him the free will to make that choice. Of course, the abortionist must answer for his evil actions later, but that's a whole different theological topic.
Hope this clears up Rover's bad theology.
