imagining yourself in the homes pictured in this magnificent book. Again, Kylloe has outdone himself capuring the pure essence of what a true home in the Adirondacks is all about. No author has a better technique on showing the reader all the rustic beauty thats out there far beyond our imaginations, by taking us on his personal home tours into some of the most gorgous beautiful Adirondack homes, most on lakes. He includes Adirondack history and again shows us in many of the homes the rustic furniture and decorating styles that depicks the true meaning of what life must be like for some to own these truely magnificent homes.

"In time the Adirondacks became synonymous with rugged living, fishing and hunting, other outdoor activities and all sorts of rest and relaxation. It was because of the great camps and rustic furniture that Adirondack became a style until its own." ~Ralph Kylloe

After a brief history with pictures, Ralph Kylloe delves into the beauty of Adirondack design. There are magical items in this book you may never see anywhere else like the rustic and romantic bridge design, complete with trolls.

The magical computer desk and chair look like something out of a fairy tale. Contemporary boats rest in luxurious boathouses and small guest houses are nestled beneath the trees. Many lodges and camps are featured and show the ingenuity of design. Chairs made with boat paddles and artistic waterways flowing through wood decks make this a very intriguing read. What is most interesting is how the exterior is brought inside and how artist envision one-of-a-kind pieces of furniture.

This book would be an inspiration to artists, architects and designers interested in this classic style.

The author has gained noteworthy attention by the Bush Administration for her work towards literacy and advocacy toward teaching children wonderful stories and moral lessons. Kimberly Johnson was invited to the White House gardens for an Easter celebration. She read from her book and was able to relate and share with children as she does during all of her readings and public appearances. Her goal is to get children involved in reading and she does this through public appearances, school and library readings, and through her zest for literacy. She is a major force in children's literacy and imagination.

I found this book by chance in a renowned independent bookstore in the author's home state. She has written prior to this The Adventures of the Itty Bitty Frog and now has a new book out about a spider and mouse. I have learned since that the author gives a percentage of royalties to the Children's Literacy Fund and she also does presentations of her books to schools in order to teach valuable lessons and morals that will be long standing with children. I praise her for her efforts and for giving children (and parents) a wonderful series. Buy this book(s) for your children.

My 3, 5 and 6 year old children love Mrs Johnson's books and ask for them again and again. The rhymes, the pictures and the general good message that always comes with them make them very popular in my house. Even my 19 month old loves the pictures. Kimberley Johnson knows how to reach into children's imaginations and I hope she continues to write books for them.

The Advocates by Eddie and Alice Smith is one of my most cherished possessions. I have learned much about prayer and intercession from the pages of this book. It has taught me how to prepare and plead the case of others in prayer; how to approach the courtroom of God and defeat our adversary before the thrown. The last chapter in this book is dynamic in that it teaches us the difference between purpose-driven prayer and problem-centered prayer.

I really do not have words to describe my feelings about this book. It has absolutely wonderful paintings to illustrate it and the writing is sensitive, understandable, and a tribute to women and a way of life that I knew nothing about. It celebrates the human spirit in words and images from the artist/author. I've lent this book to people I know and each one has been impressed.

When I first started this book, I almost gave up. Ana came across as just a little too naive, and it was almost painful to read her first interactions with Jones. Boy am I glad I persevered! The book really took off, with a lot of action set at a good pace. Ana's most saving grace is her glib remarks to the stoic Jones and the fact that is able to take care of herself. I would highly recommend this book, and will be adding this author to my favorites list.

Acting as a courier gives Analiese Tremaine's life a bit of a thrill, but nothing like the dangerous missions her brothers pursue. But when brother Sam goes missing, Analiese assumes a new identity, Ann Smith, and follows a name in her brother's files to a reclusive man known only as Jones. Unfortunately, painful memory and betrayal has driven Jones into a self appointed life of seclusion, and he does not welcome Ann's intrusion.

For five years Jones has been out of the business, making a living running charters and finding sex in the arms of women who expect nor more than he does. Ann's attempt to charter his boat irritates him, especially when she manipulates a booking into going someone else. Soon he finds his good sense overridden by a need to protect her from peril that send them into plunging into a jungle adventure that promises life-threatening danger.

Author Kylie Brant once again proves her ability to create an intriguing romance filled with extreme intensity in ALIAS SMITH AND JONES. These finally realized characters come vividly alive as Ann refuses to allow Jones' difficult nature to thwart her self-appointed mission to find her brother. Indeed, years of dodging her over protective brothers prepare her well for the irascible Jones. Further, Ann's powder puff surface conceals of woman of surprising depth and resiliency; something Jones will learn the hard way. A fast paced plot guaranteed to keep the blood pounded and tension on high, ALIAS SMITH AND JONES comes very highly recommended.

Analiese Tremaine may look and act like your typical "blonde," but she is anything but.... When Ana's brother goes missing she decides that she will be the one to re-trace his steps and try to find him before his cover is blown. She hacks into his computer and finds a trail that leads to Jones.

Jones takes one look at "Ann" and decides she's trouble, but money does talk and he's pretty low on funds. He can't help but watch out for her because he thinks she's ditzy. The run together through the jungle, climb down cliffs and sail home on a garbage barge....all for Sam Tremaine....

This story is wonderfully written by Kylie Brant. In a world where the series romance can sometimes become lackluster, her story shines through. I highly enjoyed the interaction with Jones and Ana...he's stoic and she's sassy...wonderful by-play between them all through the story! You can't miss this one!

Sam Tremaine lived a covert life. Everyone believed him to be an international lawyer, even his family ... or so he thought.

When Sam disappeared for over two weeks, Analiese, his sister, went searching for him. The family business was named Tremaine Technoligies and it handled some of the United States government's most sensitive orders. Analiese was one of the best in the tech world. Even Sam's encrypted files were not safe from Ana if she chose to look at them. Ana had known for years about Sam's covert career. Sam, however, did not know that Ana had been running as a courier for his contact, Sterling, for over two years thus far.

Ana tracked her brother to Laconos, a country that had recently undergone some major changes in its government. Sam's files mentioned using a particular charter service from Bontilla owned by a man listed only as "Jones". She began her hunt there.

Jones owned the ship named the Nefarious. The lady calling herself Ann Smith reeked of trouble. Figuring she was an island-hopping rich girl, and him needing the commission, he agreed to take her to Laconos and show her the beaches. Ann seemed to attract trouble. He found himself trying to protect her from the corrupt government and its military. Not an easy task considering she kept ditching him to see the island's nightlife. Jones could not even figure out why he cared. What she did was none of his business. Besides, the less she was around him, the less chance she would figure out his secrets.

***** This story has as many secrets as a James Bond movie. The main characters were constantly snooping, spying, and getting into dangerous scenarios. Author Kylie Brant did an excellent job of pairing this couple off and made the entire plot seem believable. The book is first of a short series, but has closure. Seems each Tremaine sibling will get a story. I, for one, am glad to know that because this book left me breathless for more. I eagerly look forward to May release! *****

This book is by far the best animal anatomy book I own, out of many I've collected. Mine has been dog-tagged over and over, highlighted, and the binding even broke off due to repeated use. It's duck taped now, and is still used today.

My only complaint is that this shouldn't be used totally alone. Goldfinger's book goes especially good with it.

I recommend this totally to wildlife artists, and rookie concept artists looking to learn anatomy so they can stretch it for their own beasties. (Like me, whoo hoo.)

I am so glad that I found this book. I have had many conversations about race, but almost all of them never went beyond the surface. People are so afraid to talk about this very important topic. Race relations continues to be an important, pervasive, and difficult social issue in this opening decade of 21st century America. Co-authored by Robin Parker and Pamela Smith Chambers, The Anti-Racist Cookbook: A Recipe Guide For Conversations About Race That Goes Beyond Covered Dishes and "Kum-Bah-Ya" basic information on the problem of race relations and the authors' approaches and philosophy. It then goes on to provide practical, applicable information on how to organize and facilitate a small-group discussion on race. There are separate chapters devoted to focusing on an individual's cultural background and early messages about race and ethnicity; the different emotional experiences of race in everyday life and what work individuals can do to improve race relations; conversational oriented intervention strategies that individuals can use to combat prejudiced comments or statements that derail interracial understanding. The Anti-Racist Cookbook is ideal for community activists and non-specialist general readers with an interest in helping themselves, their families, friends, neighbors, and communities in successfully dealing with race relations issues.

Ralph Lee Smith teaches a course in dulcimer history at the annual Dulcimer Playing Workshop at Appalachian State University, of which I am the director. His presentations are invariably among the high points of the Workshop. Through him, we all keep in touch with the dulcimer's beautiful heritage in the mountains, and the people of the mountains who have handed the dulcimer down to us. This charming book contains much of the exciting information and many of the tales that he brings to us each year. For people who love the dulcimer, and people who love the mountain world even if they aren't familiar with the dulcimer, this book is a treasure. Don't miss it!

A great book! It is a good reference work on the mountain dulcimer. Mr. Smith has performed a great service to everyone interested in it. It is a trememdous history lesson on the development of the mountain dulcimer and is loaded with photographs documenting how it has changed from its roots to what it is today. It also identifies those people who were important in its development. A real historical learning experience for the novice player and, I would assume, the experienced, too. If you're interested in the dulcimer or just an Appalacian history buff, you will like this book.

Appalachian Dulcimer Traditions is an attractive, informative and fun book to read. Who would think a detailed historical treatise on this rather unusual folk instrument would be such a treat. Ralph Lee Smith's folksy writing style reveals his equal love for the dulcimer and its people. Get ready for an adventure. You'll wind your way up into a part of Americana steeped in tradition, hairpin curves and high mountains. Smith cleverly peels back the folds of time to reveal a remarkable account of the dulcimer, its interesting characters and music. Scattered throughout the book among the many photos and llustrations are vignettes about the humble people of the mountains, their character and struggles. All evolve together in this intriguing account of the dulcimer and those who continue to scratch out a living in the mountains of the eastern United States. This book is a jewel! *****

To say this book helped me is an understatement. It not only helps me in my college studies, but in every day situations. I am purchasing another copy today for my niece, who is experiencing some difficulty in comprehending math. Of course she is labeled with a "Learning Disability". Well after my husband & I helped her with her homework, we realized "she doesn't have a disability"....it is the way the school "explains" math concepts that is making math a mystery to her. When I spoke to her and brought math "down to earth" as this book does....she is catching on quick. I am sending this book to her today, for I know it will help her through-out her life. To the authors I want say....Thank you for making math understandable.

It takes you through practically every step imaginable to understand the rules, terms and equations of algebra. I never thought learning algebra could be so easy! My son, who has ALWAYS struggled with math, now actually says that algebra is FUN! Just keeping him interested in a subject is challenging enough, but with this book, he actually looks forward to the challenge!

I actually feel comfortable with math and want to go as far as I can learning it. Instead of being torture it is now an intriguing subject. I made it to Algebra II in high school ten years ago but I never knew what I was doing. I highly recommend this book to anyone who thinks they "can't do math". I think some people just learn differently than it is taught in most public schools. You CAN learn math (if I could, then you can too!).
