TO GOD BE THE GLORY!!

It just amazes me how God can not only reveal Himself to the wise but also the youth in some of the most peculiar ways. In this writing, I was able to re-evaluate how far my family has come and also come to grips with the struggle in itself and appreciate it all at the same time. One thing I most appreciate about this book is the fact that the passion beyond the writing overflows throughout. I have grown in my faith so much and it has been a journey that I will appreciate for the rest of my life. God never ceases to amaze me with anything He has done in my life and I owe my all to Him. This is only the beginning...trust me, the best is yet to come!

This book is great! It gives a brief overview of 35 different animals, with interesting descriptions of each animal and a large colorful picture of the insides with the outer view as well. I enjoy using it in my preschool class even though it is "rated" for ages 9 -12. With its bright pictures and informative tidbits, it would make a great gift for children 3 - 12. Excellent for Christian centers as there are no references to evolution. You've got to see it!

Every child who reads this book falls in love with it

I've shared this book, now, with half a dozen young children and it has become "standard fare" on demand whenever they visit. I hear the same thing from two people I gave the book to who are both grandparents. The simple, beautifully-told story and the wall-to-wall art are hypnotically simple, making their message all the more bold in its poetic humor. After all, "Annie's not hyper -- It's her shoes!" There isn't, for the challenged youngster at such an age, a better little bed-time story that I know of. And the cute little bunny and other imaginary features (evidently all Annie's own) beckon us to believe that there is still more here than meets the eye. That must be why all the young readers ask for it first from their grandparents. Myself, I love it for the watercolor illustration work; it's incredible.

I felt that the author has captured the essence of the 70s and that I liked the fact that it has places that I'm familiar with being born in Washington, DC. I loved the ending, of course I won't give it away. I can't wait for this new author Sylvia Simmons to come out with another novel which I'm quite sure will have me just as pleased as the novel "Anything But Love"

Taken from back of box...

Enter new areas of performance and creativity with the real time motion graphics and compositing powerhouse, Apple Motion 2. VTC author, Scott Simmons, shows users how to take advantage of the Motion 2 toolset. Motion's behavioral animation tools and presets afford unprecedented freedom to produce natural and complex animations with little time or effort. You'll be designing motion graphics quickly as you adopt your own techniques to build stunning animations. A DVD containing work files and footage, courtesy of Artbeats and Master Communication, is also included.

VTC Training CDs use a simple method to transfer knowledge -- narrated QuickTime movies that take a user through the steps of learning complex software applications. Each VTC CD contains many hours of these movies, created by skilled trainers who are experts to their field, and presented using an interface that allows for easy access. While the movie is playing, a student can fast forward, rewind or jump to any point in that movie. Features of the player allow the user to search for movie topics of keywords. Other applications can be in use simultaneously -- any tutorial can be called up as required for specific help with an unfamiliar task.

A Thorough and Unique Study of Arnobius the Rhetor
Helpful Votes: 0 out of 0 total.
Review Date: 2007-05-09
The influential study written by Michael Simmons has advanced
our knowledge of Arnobius and his theology. Despite its
problematic elements such as the claims made about religious conflict and competition, Simmons' investigation clarifies Arnobian
thought by attempting to establish a socio-historical context
for Adversus nationes. Simmons indicates that "Saturnian theology"
possibly informs the Arnobian concept of God. The terminology that he uses refers to the doctrine of God that prevailed in Roman North Africa during the age of Diocletian (284-305 CE). Saturn was the chief god of North
Africans and his cultus revolved around agrarian matters such as crops,
farming implements or weather control. Certain factors that lead
Simmons to adjudge that "Saturnian theology" informs Arnobius'
theology are portions of Adversus nationes that disputably attribute
Saturnian epithets to the omnipotent deity of Christianity. One
readily encounters the terms genitor, pater, dominus and frugifer in
Arnobius. Of course, this linguistic phenomenon does not necessarily
confirm that the cultus of Saturn functions as a backdrop for Arnobius;
nonetheless, Simmons considers it a strong possibility. While pagan
concepts may shape the Arnobian understanding of divine fatherhood,
however, it seems more feasible that polemical strategy or ignorance
respecting certain doctrines as well as situational context influences his
doctrine of Christ. Simmons' work is documented thoroughly and well-written. It has proved to be indispensable in my studies of the Patristics.

I ordered this about 3 months ago and have yet to receive it. Don't believe the 2-3 week shipping estimate. At this rate, our kid will be reading T.S. Eliot before it arrives. They keep asking me to approve a delay in shipping. I've done this several times already, and fully expect to have to do it several times more.

Amazon should be honest about shipping times, and I don't feel that they have been with this product.

Insight for the future of education
Helpful Votes: 0 out of 0 total.
Review Date: 2003-12-24
I was fortunate to have been mentored by Fred S. Keller. He was an amazing man, with great patience for a fellow like myself. I hadn't seen him for many years when this book first came out so he was pretty old when he wrote it. But it is a brilliant piece of work. It takes the premise that we need to stop educating our children to an average of 70% when indeed they can learn 100% given the proper motivation, presentation and time. Children are not all of the same ability, so a school year should vary for them. Brilliant kids might learn 100% of the standard curriculum in a month while less able children can learn the same in several months. He proposes some ways of achieving this. Having worked at the Institute for Behavioral Reseach with Fred, I know this to be true. It even worked with very disturbed autistic children. This book is still way ahead of our current methods of education. We can all learn from it.
