A Travesty!

Generally, you would think that authors, especially reputed ones such as Josepha Sherman, would actually watch an episode of a show they were doing a tie-in novel of. Not so in this case. Sherman's complete lack of understanding of the Andromeda universe, from the absence of the Eureka Maru, to the fact that the crew was reduced to a collection of cardboard and sound-bytes, with a plot that's been done to death, this was perhaps the worst of any of the tie-in novels that I've seen come out from TOR or Tribune. In fact, it reads like it was written by using a search-and-replace treatment from a generic "Star Trek" novel, before they started making the effort they have of late. Given that this book followed "Waystation," which was thoroughly researched and actually captured the flavour of the series, it makes this book all that much more of an appalling, hollow sham of what tie-in novels should be.

... EVER. i couldn't even read all of it. the only Andromeda novels worth reading, thus far, have been Distruction of Illusions and The Broken Places. Waystation was awful too, don't bother.

Dangerous and 'Wacky'

This is hate literature.
Far right even of traditional fascism we find the modern "christian" right. Their beliefs are wacky, and they are dangerous - reading books like this will contaminate you with their evil or at least teach you a lot about it.

If you want to learn about Marilyn Manson buy his music - it will tell you a lot more about him than almost any book - especially one like this. Finding good info is difficult and there is a lot of noise almost no signal.

A fascinating study of the outer reaches of human behavior for the psychologist or the psychiatrist.

Uh, this is satire, right?

I received this book and it happened the strangest thing. The strange thing is that the cover of the book has the correct title, but once you open the book the whole content belongs to another book: James Rachels, Can Ethics provide Answers? In other words, I have Raechels'book with Sherman's cover. Be aware of this before purchasing this item. Who knows how widespread is this printing mistake?

I wish that Maude had Gonne sooner

He lost his virginity at the age of 51, and his poetry undoubtedly got a great deal better afterwards. Political claptrap marred his works and spoilt some vaguely pleasant ideas. I am afraid that any man who spends his entire life concerning himself with politics and Celtic twilight missed a great deal of the reality of life. However, I am inclined to attribute a great deal of this to Ms Gonne, who without a shadow of a doubt was the main factor responsible for his horrendous 'Helen of Troy' images. To any student studying this text, I would urge them to remember Dr Derek Pezrekier's pithy comment at a lecture given at Berkley University, California: "Mr Yeats - what did you spend the money on?" to which a student replied "What money?" "The money your mother gave you for brain surgery.".

This is a little book, only 125 pages, and that tells you that it does not contain a lot. Compounding is only monthly, quarterly, semiannually, and annually. Interest rates start at 5% and go up in big jumps--5,6,7,7.5,8, etc. to 20%. One can do better than this with a calculator on the internet.

This book masquerades as a comprehensive guide to developing a stock option plan. In truth, it is a very basic overview of some of the topics surrounding stock option plans. When it attempts to walk through how one would actually go about creating a plan, it uses a hypothetical company and an executive named "Charlie". Sadly, whenever Charlie comes to difficult questions, no answer is given. For example, when discussing the question of valuing stock in a private company, the author's answer is to hire an outside consultant....Gee thanks! Beyond the single basic example give, no discussion of how or why certain decisions are to be made and rationalized. Another great example of this is in determining the number of shares to grant to employees and management. The answer given in the case study is that Charlie had "no process to determine these numbers"....wow, really insightful advice.....No plan at all, so when the executives ask you how you came up with the grant allocations, you can just tell them that you winged it, just like Charlie.

As you can tell, the authors couldnt even tackle simple issues like how many shares to grant, or the appropriate strike price,
and this is not even to mention REAL issues like compensating employees whose options are underwater. I guess Charlie didn't have this problem. I am totally embarassed to have bought this book, save your money and search the web for real-world advice.
