This book is the best one I have seen on boat building. The author has several years experience in this field, and it clearly
shows. Clear, unambiguous explanations are a refreshing break from confused and opaque writing style of some of the authors
in the boat building community. Whether you are a complete novice or an adept, there is something for every practitioner
of the field. Especially for a beginner like me, I found the book simply amazing. Using the techniques described in the book,
I was able to build a beautiful kayak that is dearer to me than some of the humans I know.

I was so grateful to have stumbled on this book the night before we left on our trip to the Upper Pennensula of Michigan.
We saw things and went to quaint little out-of-the-way places we never would have found without the book. If you like to get
off the main roads and have an adventure, this book is for you. Made me fall in love with my state of Michigan all over again!

Packed full of original ideas to make cruising more enjoyable, Tom Cunliffe's ongoing affair with the sea leaches its way
through every briny paragraph.
Practical advice on many aspects of cruising is explained in sections covering boat handling, seamanship, navigation, living aboard, crew & skipper tips, with a series of useful ideas for the boat under Bosun's Bag. Every cruising yachtsman will find a multitude of really useful practical ideas.
Tom Cunliffe has cruised from Norway to Newfoundland, Greenland, Russia & the Caribbean. He is the author of 7 books on sailing & writes a regular column in Yachting Monthly.

Research Into The Psychology and Sociology of Deaf Teenagers And Young Adults
Helpful Votes: 0 out of 0 total.
Review Date: 2008-05-11
Review Date: 2008-05-11
In Martha Sheridan's earlier book, Inner Lives of Deaf Children: Interviews and Analysis, the author and Gallaudet University
professor examined the inner life of young deaf children. In her new book, she returns to interview those same seven children
to see how their lives have changed. Now they are teenagers.
Sheridan examines the similiarities and the differences between deaf and hearing adolescents, how each views themselves and their world at identical life points. Research into disability at different life stages is a fairly new area in the fields of child development, psychology and sociology, as prior generations of researchers, educators and medical professionals didn't contemplate the deaf child as a teenager, or as a young adult. There is no doubt that as the Generation Xers graduate from college and begin their own careers, there will probably be more written on the subject of deafness at every life stage, from birth to the end of life.
240 pages, with tables, reference and an index.

A well-written, excellently illustrated book that describes the very special experiences Wade Doak and his family and friends
had with Bottlenose Dolphins. This is my favorite dolphin book - as the psychic-spiritual experiences he describes are deep
and well-described. Mr. Doak was so inspired by these experiences, that he sold his house (and he had a family!) bought
a boat - and devoted his life to exploring these amazing possibilities with Dolphins, founding the still-existing Project
Interlock. He and his family and friends were experienced divers and writers when the dolphins discovered them - so the
book is mature and also very exciting to read. It is one of my all-time favorite books, the other, being The Tracker by
Tom Brown, Jr. - which if you like this kind of thing is also a marvelous Bible for modern times - training to BE on Planet
Earth. If you are interested in consciousness and dolphins, this is a wonderful, wonderful piece of work.

It's very detailed about Taylor's career and love life. It's one of the best books out there about Elizabeth. I like the photos
in it, too. It seems to cover up from her early childhood to early 1988. I recommend you get this book. You won't regret it.

As were all of Tristan Jones' books, this book too was an inspiration that gave me the fortitude to continue building my own
boat and then to sail the south Pacific and Asian
waters. I paid tribute to Tristan by devoting a chapter to him in my book "At Home In Asia," and I wrote about him again in
my last book "The Last Voyage: the Story of Schooner Third Sea." I was fortunate to have known Tristan and I think of him
often. He was an incredible man. Tristan did add a comment to my last book when he heard of my own person loss before he died.

"Come Play With Me" was one of these "sex-com" epics that starred Mary Millington and it went on to become the record holder for the longest-ever theatrical booking in British cinema history. What makes this book such a good read, is that it highlights the utter hypocrisy of the times and the misplaced and all out vendetta that the police and Her Majesty's government had against this perceived threat to the realm and the British sense of "order". An outspoken critic of Britain's antiquated pornography laws, Mary was adored by the public but her lifestyle ultimately led to drug use and prostitution. Always under an unrelenting pressure and harassment from the police and the tax man, it finally led Mary to take her own life. A good supplement to this subject is Simon Sheridan's "Keeping The British End Up" which looks at the sex films already mentioned and the declining British movie industry that produced them during this period. It too is available from Amazon.
