Children will laugh themselves silly when they read this book and think about the hilarious situations they might find themselves
in if their parents could "grow down." My daughter and I used to read it together when she was little, and now I'm looking
for a copy for her to share with her children.

a special place in my heart

My mother and I are the characters in this book. Virginia, the illustrator was a friend of my mother's. I remember the chilly
fall afternoons running around in my bathing suit while Ginny took photos of us. This book will always have a special place
in my heart, as Ginny was illustrating it when my father was in the last stages of his cancer and it documents a stressful
time in my family's history. Sheila Cole writes a sweet story that offers an introduction to underwater life to young children,
and Ginny's use of watercolor is beautiful. There is a glossary of sealife in the back, so it is also a nice fieldguide for
children. I give it as a baby shower gift whenever I can, though it is getting increasingly more difficult to find new.
Though I am obviously biased, I highly recommend it as an addition to any child's library.

A simple story of a girl and her grandfather and what they saw & did on the way to the park. Hughes' illustrations, as usual,
are wonderful. My daughter just loves the interaction of the girl and her grandad. A great little treasure!

Jackpot for SC/NC Wilkins family researchers!

Since the western terminus of the colonial boundary between North and South Carolina was a true frontier, integrated and documented
family histories from this place and time are hard to come by. Wilkins family researchers, however, can rest assured that
this concise but comprehensive text will link them to their colonial Wilkins ancestors in the Carolinas. Beginning with the
migration of William Wilkins and his "consort" Elizabeth from colonial Orange County, NC, to the Spartanburg District of SC
just after the conclusion of the American Revolution, this family history proceeds to document the dramatic expansion of the
Wilkins family through the American South during the subsequent 225 years. There is a chapter devoted to each of William and
Elizabeth's 16 children; each chapter details the subsequent generations that fanned out from those 16 children. There is
also a section summarizing the various theories surrounding the origins of William and Elizabeth. It's all in there: names,
births, deaths, marriages, dates, references, land records, and anecdotes from daily living. For me, this was the one source
that tied it all together -- an indispensible research tool for genealogists working on family ties in the former Spartanburg
District of SC as well as the several modern NC counties that derived from colonial Old Tryon County.

I don't know HOW we got through the first 4 years of my daughters life without this book! The story is wonderful, as always,
but the stick characters are what bring the book to life! We have had more fun with this book than any other in our collection.
I only wish there were more pop up theater-type books on the market! This book is a "must" for any household; with or without
kids! It is a blast.

I found a used copy of this book and fell in love with it. The illustrations by Adrienne Adams are half of what makes this book so incredibly precious. It's one of those little storybooks that you will probably want to keep and pass on as an heirloom.
The story begins with the Easter Bunny sound asleep in his warm burrow "dreaming of Easter and the brightly painted eggs that he was going to bring all the children." But Easter comes, it's raining a lot, and bunny sleeps until May, when he wakes up thinking it's Easter, puts on his Easter clothes and hops off with his Easter basket through the woods (adorable pictures) to a house with a family eating chocolates, but he finds out it's Mother's Day, and everywhere he goes to deliver his eggs, people tell him it's too late for Easter and scold him for being so late to bring their eggs.
The Easter Bunny goes back to his burrow and decides to be a 4th of July Bunny and paint his eggs red, white, and blue, and put on a patriotic outfit and then goes out to join a 4th of July parade when it rolls around, but the parade gets stopped by an officer who tells the bunny crossly that July 4th is "no time for eggs!", and nobody is interested in the bunny's red white and blue eggs.
The Easter Bunny goes back to his burrow and fell asleep again for a long time until he got woken up on Halloween by some trick or treaters. The Easter Bunny tries to give his guests some July 4th eggs and then explains that they are really Easter eggs, but realizes that nobody wants his eggs on Halloween.
Suddenly, a big wind picks up and blows the Easter Bunny to Santa's house and Santa invites him inside and Santa hears Bunny's long story about his oversleeping and the consequences. Then Bunny helps get the toys painted for Santa, and they go off in the sleigh to deliver the toys together. When they get back to Santa's after delivering all the toys, Bunny is tired and is ready to go back to his burrow and snooze, but before he leaves, Santa give Easter Bunny a present.... The rest of this adorable little story has a very happy ending for everyone.
This book is a little treasure that you will want to keep. The illustrations are so, so adorable.
