Shepard Books

This is a decent edition of well liked stories about beloved characters. Preschoolers (older twos and up) love to sit and listen to the stories of characters that they love. The color drawings, by Ernest H. Shepard, are ample and help them to focus and use their imaginations to the utmost.

My daughter who is 2 loves this book. As a lover of Pooh myself, I was delighted that this book allowed her to begin a very magical relationship with her friends from the 100 acre wood sooner than she normally would have. The book is of excellent heavy duty construction, and the graduated cut outs are fun because you can see all of the characters at the same time. The illustrations are also faithful to the original Ernest H. Shepard illustrations. Highly recommended!

I have the original version of this book from when I was a child. Now I read it to my kids (girls, 5 & 7) and they both love this story and the Self titled Tim Mouse. The illustrations are wonderful and the plot is simple but exciting for this age group.

I have witnessed a teacher using this book for her classroom to teach new vocabulary in English Language Development. It is a wonderful book because it reaches the class with its multicultural photographs. There are also a large variety of types of tools represented. Both the boys and the girls in the class loved the book because they can identify the tools they use everyday and some new tools they would love to try out. I have not seen any other book like this one addressing the important uses of tools.

I don't know why this hasn't been done before or since. Three volumes - over 2300 pages of transcriptions and analysis of jurors' actual discussions and analysis in every conceivable civil trial setting, including many different medical malpractice areas, but also getting into defamation, slip and fall, products liability, commercial disputes, and on and on... The insights into both the rabbit trails and the insightful thinking that really goes on on the jury room is fascinating and helpful, not just to trial lawyers, but to social scientists, politicians, writers, and curious people.Written by a well respected trial lawyerr and a P:h.D. social scientist. Great stuff.

Very inspirational book!!!!!! A MUST have!

Carol Ra has done an excellent job in extending the importance of reading to your child or grandchild. She includes hints to further enhance these precious moments for both of you.

I ran across a copy of Venus Boy at my Uncle's house many years ago, and fell in love with the story and characters. I have never seen it in my local library, and have held on to that old, worn book because my 6 sons have loved the story so much.
Set on Venus, in a colony from Earth, the story centers around the growing up experiences of Johnny Watson, who attends New-Plymouth school, and who has a very special pet: Baba, a baby Jewel Bear. While young a Jewel Bear has black claws; when it gets older, its claws become more precious than any gem on earth, and hunters hunt these bears as we used to hunt for ivory, etc. here. Many good lessons are learned as the story unfolds, and with the unique setting it is a wonderfully imaginative story to enjoy together as a family.

...I found this book,and it was like having some friendly person sit down and talk to me openly and non-judgementally about what was happening with me. Someone understood. And I wasn't the only one.

What I remember most are the biogrpahies at the end of the book. They featured people of all shapes, sizes, colors and ages, some single and some coupled, and all gay or lesbian and leading happy, healthy productive lives. There was hope.

That's what I got out of this book. Those three things. Someone understood. I wasn't the only one. There was hope.

...This book helped me believe that this life was possible, and inspired me to go out and find it for myself.

To the authors, if you're out there, I just want you to know you helped at least one person.

I like this book because it's funny.I like chapter 2 because this girl wrote somthing about her teacher on her work and she blamed it on her brother so one day mrs.Jewel's called her mother and her mother told her that bebe don't have a brother that's why i like this book.At the end of the story the kids there think the school is going to fall down because something is shaking the school.
