The text follows a pattern of an adjective, that adjective in its comparative form, and that adjective in its superlative form.
This is an easy pattern for students of English as a second language to follow.

Swindle is the best magazine because:
1) Its hardbound
2) Talent
3) Roger Gastman
4) Shepard Fairey
and all of the above put together a fine masterpiece that will never lose the classic edge it has. I love Swindle.

I decided to judge this book by the cover and purchased it for my son who was thrilled by the site of school busses. What I found inside was delightful.

For younger children, this is a picture book drawn at a child's eye level. It has a bus, 2 dogs, a cat, pet food dishes, blocks, a drum, dinosaurs... so many things to hold a child's attention. It is the simple story of what a child does while his older sibling is away at school.

What creeps into the pages is so much more.

The illustrations depict a red-haired Edward and a main character, Tom, who appears to be Asian. What a gift for parents of multi racial families to have a book in which diversity needs no explanation.

The tender love of adults for the child and of the siblings for each other is heartwarming. Tom is offered assurance and encouragement from parents, from the housekeeper, and, most importantly, from Edward.

My 4 year old son loves having it read over and over. And I love reading it.

The Tale of Pig along with the three others in the series by Helen Cooper; The Tale of Duck, The Tale of Frog, and The tale of Bear are such a joy to read to little children. We received them as a gift when my boys were 3 and 4 and now we read them to a friend who is two. They beg to hear them over and over. Each book shows how Timothy loves his toys and how he deals with the heartache his mischivious cat causes. Pig is met with the whoes of no longer being able to hold coins but Tim still loves him. The other great thing is the toys are in each book which is really fun! You are really missing out if you don't get a copy of each of these books!

ISBN 2894333498 - Winnie the Pooh, in general, almost always deserves five stars and A Tale of Two Tiggers certainly does. Every detail is classic Disney.

Tigger bursts into Pooh's house, shouting in excitement. There's another tigger in the Hundred-Acre Wood! Pooh, then Piglet, and finally Eeyore and Christopher Robin join in the search for the elusive other tigger. They find him, in time - in a reflection!

The illustrations in this board book are nearly 3-D, they're so well done. The story and text are simple enough for the youngest Pooh fans to find interesting and there's still enough story to keep slightly older fans engaged.

A particular way of living

This book is based around the idea that A. A. Milne's stories of Winnie-The-Pooh can be used to illustrate the basic notions of Taoism. Hoff is not by any means arguing that Milne was a Taoist. He is merely saying that Milne's inner attitude to life, as revealed by the stories, intuitively follow along the same path as Taoism. Owl is wise, Rabbit is cleaver and Eeore is smugly superior but the real hero of the books is Pooh, the apparently stupid yet strangely successful and able bear.

The book covers the Taoist principles of:

Tao, or the indescribable Way of the universe,
P'u, or natural simplicity, the Uncarved Block,
Inner Nature, being those things that make us exactly who we are,
Wu Wei, or proceeding without doing, causing, or making,
Tzu Jan, or 'self so', meaning that things happen by themselves, spontaneously,
Tz'u, or caring and compassion, and,
T'ai Hsu, or the Great Nothing.

Along the way we learn the pitfalls of being too busy and the benefits of doing nothing (for example meditation and contemplation). Having read this I now try to arrange my day so that I can spend half an hour a day in my garden with my cat just doing nothing but observing nature and thinking the thoughts that come to mind. I recommend it to everyone.

Paul Shepard is the kind of author that should be read over and over again. Each time through, you will pick up more, and slowly your view of the world will change. In this book, Shepard weaves together anthropology, psychology, social criticism, and prehistory to paint a picture of what we used to be, what we are now, and what we can be in the future. More specifically, Shepard urges us to recapture the form of hunter-gathering. This is not to say that we can turn back the clock of history and go back to the caves. Rather, he is espousing a closer contact with the natural world, which is the only thing that can trigger the crucial psychological transitions that make up our lifecycle. Without this kind of exposure to the Otherness of the real world, we remain locked in adolescence and even pre-adolescence, unable to maturely experience the people and places around us. Read this book, then read "Nature and Madness", then read his other books --- then REREAD them, over and over. His stuff is that good.

Bottoms' study is an insightful and surefooted introduction to one of America's most troubling and innovative playwrights. While the book presents itself as a fairly straightforward work of dramatic criticism, with some production history and biography mixed in, it is written in an enliveningly lucid style and is brimming with surprising insights. Its organization is pleasingly straightforward too: the introduction lays out the main 'crises' that run through Shepard's work, and then the book proceeds to use these crises as it goes chronologically through the evolution of Shepard's career, paying attention to its many aesthetic twists and turns. Highly recommended for anyone studying Shepard, or interested in putting on a thoughtful production of one of his plays!

I bought this cookbook in 1978 when I lived in Canada. The cover is torn and battered and the pages are dog-eared. But, I still present wonderful meals from the recipes contained in this wonderful book!
