I really enjoyed reading Sitting On Pillicock Hill. I didn't have the luxury of reading it in one sitting, so I found myself eager to get back to it and find out what was happening. The characters and situations seemed real. I usually try to anticipate the ending, or at least the direction of a mystery, but this one had me stumped until the very end. I plan to read it again!

For the first time I have enjoyed a book that is not long, hard to get into or complicated. Thank you for writing a heart-warming tale of determination, success and sharing. I highly recommend this novel for anyone who wants to finish a book with a good feeling in their soul.
Slider is a true gem!

I think philosophy is tough. This book puts everything in to terms you can understand. It's great for a college gen. ed. philosophy or ethics class. I enjoyed reading the book and learned a lot...which is more than I can say about most books/classes I've taken in college.

This was such a great help for me when I was going through the grieving process. I connected with the author's spirituality in finally finding hapiness after grieving the tradgedy she suffered. I am quite a fan of many of her books. She seemed a warm person when I had seen her speak at a local book discussion.

I own a lot of cookbooks, and this one is by far my favorite. Kay Shaw Nelson presents recipes for soups, stews and ragouts from around the world. The recipes are straightforward and easy to follow, and the results are delicious. It is worth it to buy this book for the Mulligatawny recipe alone!

Back of Book....
Duke Javier Herrera needs a wife in order to inherit his family's banking business. In Grace Beresford, whose father swindled Javier out of millions, Javier can take revenge and a convenient wife.

At first, Javier just wants Grace's body. But this small price she refuses to pay.....despite their explosive mutual attraction. How long can Grace remain his wife in name only?

At first I thought this book would be like every other Harlequin that has the herion family indebted to the hero line - a quick and okay read. I'm glan I was wrong. This book is very emotional and passionate. I only hate that it was so short. Javier is so sexy in his vulnerability. He has a past lacking in loving emotions and strives hard not to develop any for Grace and tries to keep her at a distance emotionally. Grace is a spitfire and does not take anything lying down. She is strong and does not let anyone walk over her.
They both try to hold their emotions in check.
They both fail and it was a pleasure to read.

A very good bible study about spiritual gifts.
It brings out the purpose of the gifts, and how we are to use these gifts
in an informative way.
I found it very helpful for myself and a bible study group.

Cute and memorable story about a campout in the backyard. What's that noise? Is it a scary monster? No, it's just grover's dog, etc. Lot's of fun concepts and words to talk about. "why is grover scared?" "Who could be making that noise" "Wow, is that really a dragon coming?" You can use lots of funny character voices anf high affect to bring the story to life, too. And the illustrations are sesame street cute!

A valuable resource for understanding "cult" phenomena.

Balanced, objective, and very well written. A valuable resourcefor understanding "cult" phenomena.

William Shaw joinedseveral cults in Britain, without telling its members or leaders that he was a journalist and recounts his experiences in this book.

I must preface that I do not refer to the term "cult" with a negative connotation but merely use it to address any small segregate somewhat secretive philosophical research group of an intense or disciplined nature.

One of the "cults" he spent over 5 months with was the "Emin Society" founded by Raymond Armin also know as Leo.

I have spent over a year intermittently "researching" with the Emin society I have recognized many of the phenomena described in this book.

I definitely, will be the last to discount the value of keeping an open mind in relation to esoteric currents of thought available through the "Emin Society" as one of many attempts to minimize one's ignorance of the world. This is great as long as you retain the ability to question and to refuse to believe what you do not understand yet. I found that the majority of the people who remain involved with the "Emin Society" do not retain that ability and are carried away in believing in a subculture which they do not dare to question.

I was attracted to the Emin by the fresh esoteric research methodology but was quickly turned off by its conformist, secretive, and closed mentality.

"Spying in Guru Land : Inside the Britain's Cults" by William Shaw can be purchased at Amazon.com.

Compiled and edited by Eric Sandweiss (Carmony Associate Professor of History, Indiana University - Bloomington) St. Louis In The Century Of Henry Shaw: A View Beyond The Garden Wall is a collection of essays by notable contributions and was assembled and published in tribute to the 200th anniversary of the birth of philanthropist and entrepreneur Henry Shaw (1800-1889). Touching upon politics, ethnicity, business, literature, and more, these informed and informative treatises offer perspectives upon a thriving cultural center of 19th century America. Enhanced with a number of black-and-white illustrations, St. Louis In The Century Of Henry Shaw is a highly recommended contribution to 19th Century American History Studies reference collections and supplemental reading lists.
