I have been interested in Feng Shui for many years, and as a result have numerous books which now gather dust on my shelves. Having seen Paul Darby on TV, his practical and common sense approach to Feng Shui made me buy The Feng Shui Doctor Book. What a great choice - for beginnners or those with more knowledge. Step by step, room by room Paul gives advice and suggestions to help you and your surroundings become re-energised and harmonious-it worked for me.

Copan and Fryling have created a collection of both known and unknown Christians' vignettes resounding ways God has heard someone's prayer and responded. For readers who feel God is distant or not listening, and are looking to be encouraged in their faith, get "Finding God Between a Rock and a Hard Place."

While our society lives in a 'show me' mindset, they don't always realize God is showing Himself. Readers appreciating books from TD Jakes to CS Lewis to Jack Deere to John MacArthur... as varied as they are, will all find "Finding God Between a Rock & A Hard Place: Stories of Gratitude and Grace" a hardcore look at answered prayer.

These stories are real. They are a result of knee-bent prayer, and the grace of God.

It looks great (typeset beautifully), reads well, engages the mind, heart and soul... after you read it, pass it on. It would make a warm, gentle gift to a friend needing a boost.

I fully recommend "Finding God Between a Rock & A Hard Place." I hope there is a sequel, or some other variation. Good testimonies of God's grace are abound, but are too rarely bound in as well-said as found in these pages. God's glory needs to be declared, and here, He shines.

Definitions in this book were read, one or two lettters at a time, as bedtime stories, when our child was just learning to read. We read it many times over, and it was fun and informative. The simple colorful illustrations were a delight. This year our child at age 11 won a full four year scholarship to Purdue, because he received one of the top scores in state Mathcounts competition. His foundation in math began with this dictionary.

Excellent book, Leave you with a want for more. Loved it. A must read.

Several years ago I did extensive college-level work on the writings of Flannery O'Connor. I found two books particularly helpful in understanding the fullness of O'Connor's achievement, this book and Brian Ragen's "A Wreck on the Road to Damascus." Baumgaertner writes from a similar theological perspective, and though I do not believe she is a Roman Catholic as O'Connor was, she writes with understanding and sympathy for O'Connor's position. I bring up the religious issue only because any in-depth study of O'Connor must face the fact of her deep commitment to her beliefs.
The books is very readable, and though Jill Baumgaertner is a professor (at Wheaton College, Illinois) she takes pains to avoid the academic jargon that marrs much critical writing today. If what you want is a sympathetic insightful reading of O'Connor then there is no better book to start with. However, if what you want is "hip" academic jargon then read Kreyling's collection.

I was privileged to be introduced to Flannery O'Connor's works in Dr. Rath's Fiction class at Louisiana State University in Shreveport. At the time, I wasn't aware that Dr. Rath is considered to be one of the most important authorities on O'Connor's work and life.

Dr. Rath once told us in class that he would describe his feelings toward O'Connor and her writings as love, and were she alive, he might seriously consider leaving Mrs. Rath for her. Of course, he was joking, but Dr. Rath writes about Flannery O'Connor's work and life with a passion that few can match.

Flannery O'Connor is perhaps a greater writer about the South than William Faulkner. She had a life cut short by chronic illness but in her short life she managed to write some of the most memorable stories I've ever read.

You will enjoy Dr. Rath's writings about Flannery O'Connor. I encourage you to do an online search for his articles and essays once you have read his book on the subject.

It's orginal, fascinating depicting the 19th century life of women in England. Great mystery.

The Book Fly-Tying by Helen Shaw shows the way flys used to be tyed and gives all of the flytying nouns meaning. If you have ever wondered what a hackle is or any technicle question about different materials or techniqes this is the book for you. The only sad thing about this book is that it was written in the 50's and 60's as the materials show. but if you ever wondered how they made them from scratch this is the book for you!!!
