I bought this book for my younger, adult brother who absolutely adores the genre. He apparently has several in this series and asked for Reel 2.

All day Christmas, and for days later, I could hear him Chuckling and giggling as he read the book over and over again.

Since he's quite picky, very funny himself, and has read voraciously in this genre his obvious pleasure was more than enough proof that this author is quite talented.

Great buy for someone who likes the author or series.

Although not in the financial services industry, I believe that this book is extremely informative and helpful for anyone in a management position. I Chair an academic department of thirty-five professionals in a large urban business school and found this book to be a useful tool in helping to confront and resolve issues and conflicts that arise on a regular basis. I particularly benefited from the chapters giving pragmatic insight into leadership styles. The sharp acumen reflected in Dr. Cass's and Dr. Shaw's writing makes this book a valuable and worthy read.

I'm a SCORE volunteer counselor or business coach. I liked this book a lot. It is exceptionally well outlined. And the author's writing style was very good. It wasn't too short or too long. The title of this book lets the reader know clearly what this book is about: business coaching. Its primary audience is business executives who are considering business coaching provided by freelancers to help improve the executive's worth to her company and the worth of her subordinates to their company.

Business coaching can be provided in many formats and/or styles. And this book does a wonderful job dissecting the variety of coaching methods so the executive can consider her options in order to benefit from coaching in the most effective way. Coaching, if used in an organization well, can create significant change and impact on an organization and its leadership. This book does a wonderful job explaining how this is possible. It covers how coaches can help people focus, prioritize, add skills, and discontinue using other skills. If done right, then coaching will add value to the company.

Usually a book author needs an editor and proofreader to clean up their manuscript so it reads well and sounds good. Executives in a company can benefit and do benefit from using business coaches much the same way as authors benefit from using editors and proofreaders. If you are a business executive, either the owner of a small company, or a CEO or similar executive in a large company, I think this book might open your eyes to the possibilities of business coaching for you and your company.

This book will also benefit professional business coaches since it explains what they do, or can do, in their professional practice. It may open their eyes to some techiques or processes that they don't use already. It may help them change or improve their business plan. It might cause them to think in terms of expanding or contracting their marketing efforts. 5 stars!

A Great But Overlooked Book For Horse-loving Girls
Helpful Votes: 2 out of 2 total.
Review Date: 2005-03-23
This is actually one of my favorite books! Nobody seems to know about it, but it is a great horse book and I loved it! The story is about Callie Shaw, a girl growing up in Texas during the depression. She lives with her aunt near a racetrack, and loves horses, but her aunt doesn't approve. Eventually, she disguises herself as a boy to work as a stable boy at the track. She takes care of Pride, and makes friends with a real stable boy who knows who she is. Soon she is caught up in the racing world of intrigue. Horses are stolen, races won and lost and there is her father, a jockey she hasn't seen in years, to be found. It was a really funny horse book for girls who like adventure. And don't pay any attention to the reading level on the book. Ages 4-8 is ridiculous. Maybe 9-12 but teens can read it too. Every horse lover should read it! I hope my point is taken! Go and find this book!!!!

I've had Professor Shaw for two classes already and I must say her classes are very informative and interesting. Not everyone has the pleasure of taking a class with her, but I recommend all my fellow French Literature majors out there to read this book. If you are a undergraduate and want to gain a broad knowledge of poetry ranging from the Medieval French poetry to contemporary Francophone poetry this book is your answer. A good source of review for graduate students as well, that is if your interests aren't really in poetry, but of course there are those Masters tests! This is a must for all scholars of French literature at all levels.

A True Gem of World Theatre
Helpful Votes: 18 out of 18 total.
Review Date: 2004-06-06
Like many writers at the turn of the 20th Century, Shaw was very much interested in "the woman question," for women were becoming increasingly independent and more of a challenge to men in both public and private spheres. Although he also addressed these issues in such other plays as PYGMALION and MAN AND SUPERMAN, CANDIDA is perhaps his clearest statement on the subject. Written in 1894, it is a statement that has proven timeless. It is easily among the favorite performance pieces of world theatre.

The plot is quite simple. The Rev. Morrell is a minister with a taste for reform--and he has had the good fortune to marry the perfect wife, a remarkable woman named Candida who has a talent for smoothing every path she encounters. One of the paths to which she has turned that talent is that of Marchbanks, a poetic young man who is the grip of all the emotional turmoil delayed adolescence implies. But Marchbanks has fallen in love with Candida, and when he informs her husband of this all hell breaks loose.

Throughout much of the play Morrell and Marchbanks engage in a series of brilliantly written duels over Candida, each of them espousing what Candida means to them and what they can give her, arguing through numerous philosophical issues in the process. But neither gentleman has actually troubled to consult Candida herself; when they eventually lay the issue before her and insist that she decide between them, she responds in a way that not only demonstrates how little they know of her, but how little they know about both women and the world in general.

The climax of the play has been dropping jaws in theatres for well over a hundred years and it seems likely that it will do so for at least a hundred more--and although Shaw presents his play as a comedy, it will be the rare husband who leaves it without a quick glance at his wife and the disturbed thought that like Candida, she may not be entirely what he has always believed her to be. Brilliantly written and reading as well on the page as it plays on the stage, CANDIDA is easily among the great plays of this or any other era; a personal favorite and very strongly recommended.

Captain Carrot his Amazing Zoo Crew Animated Series, Please!

Review Date: 2008-06-26
Captain Carrot and his Amazing Zoo Crew is the most amusing comic series of the 80s. It would be great if there is a animation series for the Zoo Crew in the near future. Make Alley-Kat-Abra a complete hero, please and don't write her killing Little Cheese. Many Captain Carrot fans would be happy if Captain Carrot and his Amazing Zoo Crew gets an animation series, which should have happened years ago. Please create an amimation series for Captain Carrot and his Amazing Zoo Crew, and use the first 20 comics as episodes!
