A gritty rain soaked homage to the Seattle music scene. Martinez captures the quintessence of life in a band while riding that sweaty lucid dream into a twisted nightmare of despair, weirdness and hope.

"Prayer for the Wild" is an outstanding achievement, especially for a first novel. Martinez infuses his prose with an inherent sense of poetry and a subtle, yet mesmerizing style. Hopefully we'll see more from this budding novelist. If we do, I predict it will just get better and better.

I felt this was an amazing story that kept me reading. It was so well written I could not put it down until I finished the book and found what happened to this very talented young girl. I found it to be a very interesting book about young people in the life of music. I recommend this book to anyone looking to read a well written easy to read story. I feel this writer has a lot of talent and should continue to write more books. I will be looking forward to his next book myself.

This is pretty much an amazing book. By the end of the first chapter you are so deeply involved with the characters you become them. You love them, fear them, and respect them. Being in a band myself, Scott describes in this book about The Wild, what my mind tries to describe about whats its like to be in a band. Not only about bands but life. After reading this book i want to find a cd by The Wild and listen and live it. But its not all about bands and music industry or the politcs revolving thereof, but like i said, also about life, and how fast it can be taken away. I couldn't put it down, i had to find out what happend, what was going to happen, and how it turned out. Made me cry it did, it garbs you, and pulls you in. I highly recommend this book. Perfect for any collection.

Principles and Practices of Chiropractic aim one unusual and still strange matter of alternative medicines, but it can obviously portrait everything from Philosophy to History and matter of Ethics and World-Based Medicine Insitutes.

It perfectly (with lots of details) shows the entire side of a non-well-known Medicine, and becomes a book, in its 3rd Edition, that could be used in Palmer Universities.

I found the Dr. Haldemans book to be a good book. Not the greatest, as certain things were a bit dated but all around an interesting read.

I have never seen such an unprofessional response as yours however. Stuffing the ballet on your referenced site for your own book (yes it was pretty obvious), not to mention the overall lack of professionalism in my opinion. No I?m not an expert in medicine but I know a bit more than you about computer/network technology I would presume.

Then again, I'm just a simpleton. I have no particular stake here one way or the next. I'm not a practicing physician. I?m not even in health care. I'm just a technology guy. (You know, a programmer in C, C++, Ada95, LISP etc.) (I also enjoy the study and design of operating systems and Artificial Intelligence applications) I know... so how DARE I question the almighty physician right?

I've also read your review of New York Chiropractic College. Very strange indeed. You would have to be blind not to find the research lab and it's millions of dollars worth of research equipment.

Odd as well that you chose to accost the tour guide with medical questions. I'm sure the tour guide was a fantastic intellectual boost for you. The Dean seemed,(from your account, I've haven't spoken with him yet), to be kinder and simply choose to give you a book and send you on your way. If I had to put up with your attitude I guess I would have done the same.

Funny as many medical doctors I've spoken with are extremely impressed with the academic rigors of NYCC's curriculum. Particularly those at Bethesda Naval Hospital, where students from New York Chiropractic College often intern. But then again what the heck would I know. I'm just a simple technology guy. What hospital do you work at again?

Tell me again about medical school. Do they still teach neat things in medical school like logic/rhetoric/debate? (They did in the military academy I attended.) If they do, then surely you realize that your statement in which you asked the Dean to? (And I am paraphrasing) ? Prove that Chiropractic is not bunk.? is asking to prove a negative. Under the rules of debate and logic, (you did take that right?) it is, of course impossible to prove a negative.

If you lack the ability to research JAMA, JMT or other peer reviewed journals that is your issue, not the Dean of the school. It sounds to me like you?re more jealous of New York Chiropractic Colleges campus than anything else.

Again please excuse me, I'm a simple technology guy, not a super-all-knowing medical doctor, any mistakes here are my own doing and no one else?s and this is just my simple opinion:

What do Chiropractors do? (A very simple question)

A: Think of the Chiropractor as a conservative health practitioner. Trained in differential diagnosis, the latest diagnostic procedures (You know similar in function to a general practitioner who really knows a lot about orthopedics). They recommend dietary changes/improvements, lifestyle recommendations, exercise if warranted, various physiotherapeutic regimens, and can do allergy work-ups, prescribe orthotics, do X-Ray, MRI, CAT or other radiological diagnostic imaging procedures, utilize multi-class LASAR modalities etc. and when appropriate, they refer to the appropriate allopathic physician (i.e. surgeon, medical specialist etc.) Often those same allopathic physicians refer patients to chiropractors.

There is much more but I digress. I don?t have room here to explain everything and I?m just a simple guy. I don?t have all the answers.

Surely someone of your obvious superior medical talent has better things to do than lambaste a complementary profession? Obviously there is much more to being a Chiropractic Physician and this is just a very simple, general overview, and you understand what I?m saying.
Maybe you don't.

Or maybe.....just maybe.... it's because you and the de-licensed Stephen Barrett (Who has lost every recent court case he's been involved in and is accused of racketeering if I read the court papers correctly) feel a certain amount of fear or envy regarding Dr. Haldemans abilities. After all, he is a triple doctorate holding DC,MD and Ph.D. degrees. You're degree was as an MD correct?
You graduated in 1945 right?

Maybe it's because you and the five or six other people in your organization (which in my opinion is full of quackery itself) seem to crave the media so much and have something to hide? I think in Psych 101 we called it Shadow Projection (to use a Jungian Term) I don't know. Actions sure speak louder than words though. I see Dr. Holdeman at many medical review panels and neurological symposiums.

Funny.... I haven't seen you at any of the neurology symposiums presenting research to contrast what Dr. Holdeman has been saying. Maybe it's because you can't.

This is an excellent book. It's a must for anyone beginning chiropractic study to know what chiropractic is all about. This book is a good reference for some portions of Chiropractic Principles for Part 2 of the National Chiropractic Boards.

Other books that I recommend for the National Boards include Handbook Clinical Care by Lawrence Wyatt

Dr. Haldeman has written a balanced and thorough overview of the chiropractic profession. It is somewhat dated but a medical literature search will quickly bring you up to speed as he continues to publish extensively in journals such as Spine. Highly recommended if you want the basics.

Scott makes playing the flute a treat with this instructional book on flute playing. It had been about twelve years since I'd picked up my dusty, tarnished flute, and I admit that I had forgotten everything I learned. After the first few lessons, I was hooked again! My husband was shocked that I could remember so quickly, but it's not me, it's the book!

The book goes through the necessary steps including how to make a sound (which is easier said than done), fingering, charts, and the language of music. It is simple, fun and you'll be anything but frustrated! It may be a bit juvenile (come on, the first songs you learn are "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star" and so on) but it is still a very worthwhile investment. If you're serious about learning to play the flute, this is the beginner's book of choice!

Since I am no longer young, learning to play the flute has presented me with a considerable challenge. This book has simplified technical aspects that caused me the most difficulty. Having a cd with the exercises means even a novice like me can replicate the exercises in tune and at the correct tempo. The book starts off very basic, but quickly provides recognizable tunes even beginners can play. It makes the whole learning process so much more fun!

Rachel Joy Scott was a 17-year-old girl from Columbine High School. She was one of the 13 people killed in a tragic killing spree on April 20th, 1999. It is told that Rachel was a sweet soul, just trying to make a differnce in the world...that, she did.

Rachel Smiles is the 3rd book of a 3 book series. It was written by Darrell Scott with Steve Rabey. It tells stories of peoples' lives which Rachel has been a part of and touched.

One very interesting thing happend to Rachel's family, and Darrell talks about it in this book, is a dream that a man named Frank Amedia had. Frank was a total stranger to the Scott family. He lived in Ohio, and he had watched Rachel's funeral on CNN. He called Darrell, and wanted to know if he knew anything about his dream. The dream was a vision of Rachel's eyes crying a stream of tears. The tears were watering something, but Frank didn't know what. Darrell said he didn't know what the dream meant. About a week later, the police station called to say that the Scotts could pick up Rachel's backpack, which was being hed as evidence. As Rachel's family went through her bag, they found Rachel's latest journal, with a bullet hole through it. The last entry was put in 15 minutes before Rachel Scott was murdered. It was a drawing of eyes crying 13 tears (the number of people killed that day) watering a columbine flower, that was dripping blood. Mr. Scott immediately thought of Frank Amedia.

Personally, I think Rachel Smiles is a great book. After reading it, I feel like I know Rachel Scott. It's an uplifting, non-fiction book, that seems to pull you in as you read. This amazing book can be found on www.amazon.com . You may also visit the web-site to find out how to purchase any other books written by Darrell Scott: www.rachelscott.com . I highly recommend this book t anyone wanting a refreshing, uplifting, all-around good book.

I think that this is an excellent and touching book about the impact of Rachel's life and of her beliefs. I don't agree with certain things that was said in the book(specicially about Eric and Dylan and their impact[as someone who looked into what happened extensively, their impact is more than Rachel's father says, or more accurately, does not say, in the book]), but I think that it's a great book for anyone who wants to know about Rachel's impact and legacy.

From the author of the best-seller "Rachel's Tears" comes a book not about the life of Rachel Scott, but about the lives her story has changed. It isn't surprising that this book is touching and impactful. Rachel Scott's dad is a wonderful writer, and the other books her family has written are just as touching and impactful. This one especially impacted me because I am one of those who was deeply touched by Rachel's death and life story. Although I was not featured in the book, it was totally inspiring and encouraging to hear how other people were touched by her as well. This world is a hurting world, and sometimes we feel there is no hope and it seems there is no hope. The stories in this book give me hope. They show me that God really CAN work miracles, and that people really can be transformed. Rachel Scott wanted to start a chain reaction, and she wanted to be used to reached the unreached-- God answered those prayers, and through her family and her own stories being published, Rachel Joy has done just that! We need more people like her in this world! If Rachel Scott or the tragedy at Columbine touched your life in any way, you should read this book.

I'm a longtime Cthulhu keeper but new to Ramsey Campbell (other than the material in the rulebook). The first half of the book is devoted to resource material covering magic, monsters and locations in the fictitious Severn Valley (well the Severn Valley itself isn't fictitious of course). The second half is devoted to a campaign of 7 or 8 scenarios. Everything is well written, well thought out and seems very playable. I'm looking forward to running it!

I've waited a long time for this one, and the wait was worth it! It's chock full of scenarios (forming a campaign which you can ignore if you want), and lots of background material on Ramsey Campbell's Severn Valley. I wish there'd been more maps and maybe more info on some of the locations but all in all, this is a COOL package!

It's good to see Chaosium getting back to topnotch books again. This one along with Unseen Masters, represents a "new wave" of Call of Cthulhu - as good or better than any of the stuff released in years.

You can't really go wrong with this package, it's got background resource material for the Goatswood area and a nice bundle of scenarios that look like fun to run (I can't wait to spring some of them on my group! HEH HEH HEH) I don't want to give away any spoilers but there's an S&M club, and the "GUARD" at the club is such a wicked idea not to mention the dude who runs the place. Good to see Ramsey the man himself giving the introduction, read his Silent Children book if you really want to get chills!

The artwork is decent, and lots of it. Plenty of handouts too, which are really important as far as I am concerned. One thing I could do without though is the side illustrations, they take up too much room that could maybe be used for information. But that's a small jibe compared to the value.

Rattlesnake Jam is a hilariously funny children's picture book about an old couple who share an irresistible affection for rattlesnakes. There's only one problem: While Pa would rather have the rattlesnakes turned into fritters or pie, old Gran prefers them turned into jam... disgustingly green, sweetened, gooey rattlesnake jam!

So no matter how cold the weather is, there goes brave Pa hunting after the snakes. And as he hunts them, he fantasizes about the various ways Gran could cook them--hot on a plate, fried, sliced on white rice, hmmm... But no way will his dreams ever become a reality, for as readers will learn "...snake cooked for Pa was not in Gran's plan. She dreamed of them sweetened and made into jam." Though Gran swears her special jam can cure colds, gout and wheeze, not to mention "troublesome knees", everyone dislikes the taste of her ghastly creation. Will Gran ever stop? And what would happen to Pa, if she ever did?

Colliers's colorful, wacky illustrations complement Finke's humorous rhyme perfectly. Gran is grossly comical with her toothless grin, warts, bell pepper nose, and tough exterior. The reader will feel sorry for Pa, who seems completely under Gran's control. The book has 28 pages in all, and each story page has an illustration with a short text at the bottom--a two or four line rhyme, like this one:

Drop in chunky slices, stir well with a spoon.
Add mysterious spices! Gran hummed a wild tune.
The way to Gran's heart was through rattlers galore--
Making rattler jam bubble, `til it flowed on the floor.

The song-like cadence will be enjoyed by kids and adults alike. Snakes are reptiles that inspire both fear and fascination, especially in children, and it was clever of the author to use them as victims instead of villains in this book. This is a fine addition to Finke's series of rhyming books about animals. Whimsical and amusing, Rattlesnake Jam is one of those books young children will beg their parents to read to them again and again.

"Whoever heard of rattlesnake jam? Horrid! Disgusting! And how perfect for the imaginative child with a sense of adventure! This rhymed and well-metered tale of a grandma set on making rattlesnake jam, as if it were on everyone's breakfast menu, will have youngsters squealing and squirming with delight. They'll follow the hapless Pa into the field in search of the critters, and back into Gran's kitchen where she cooks up a rattling brew for folks near and far.

Rattlesnake Jam? Naturally! Children will ask for second, third and fourth helpings of this lively story. Enchanting illustrations by Kevin Collier."

I throughly enjoyed the poetry in this delightful book. I was especially moved by the poem "Fallen heroes" because I have two family members who have served in the war on terror. The poem expressed many of the feelings we all shared on 9-11.

As a mother, I was also moved by the touching poems about the death of the young daughter. So poignant!

As a southerner, I could well relate to the fried chicken, the porch swings and the rocking chairs. A very short poem entitled "A Pebble" held a special message for me. Every family must have a "rock."

There were many experiences, thoughts and emotions expressed in the poetry in this book. I highly recommend it!

As I began this volume, I prepared myself to be disappointed. The first section "Deep Below Our Violences" consists of poems that are well written with an interesting mix of topics and forms. However, they say little about the world and humanity that is not common poetic parlance. "Alexandrian Fragments" uses the burning of the library in Alexandria as its primary image; "Archaeology: A Subsequent Lecture" uses a dig; "Interval with Erato" a sensual/sexual encounter with the muse ...

The second section "The Recovered Midrashim of Rabbi Sab", in contrast, shows a very inventive poet writing distinctive, meaningful prose poems. "YHWH's Image" presents an image of Time which pauses, twitches its tail, opens it's eyes while God creates creates humanity in his own image, a precise image molded in clay on God's body. "The Turning of Lot's Wife" shows the wife as the compassionate one: "... she could not turn her back on even one doomed child of the city, but must turn her back instead upon the saved." "In the Well of Joseph's Brief Despair" presents the view of the world from the bottom of the well - and its continuing effect on Joseph after his life was spared.

The final section "Supplications" presents two strong themes - Hebrew vs. Greek thought patterns and the value of body. The topics supporting these themes include religious stylites (monks living on small, high platforms, the harrowing of hell, the death of the crucified man headed for paradise, Mary Magdalen ... in these poems the same formal strengths appear that appear in the first section. However, here Cairns more frequently has something uncommon to say.

Erotic, holy, erudite, and deeply moving! I love how Cairns engages both metaphysical mystery and sensual materiality in a single amazing moment, in a single turn of phrase--as in "Loves" when Magdalen observes "All loves are bodily, require that the lips part, and press their trace of secrecy upon the one beloved." I'd say the visionary has returned to American poetry.

This is the most complete book on the subject of wayward children I have read. I teach an adult Sunday School class and found a wealth of material and application. Also, having had a prodigal son, I found this book a tremendous comfort and tool to sort out the factors that led to my son's rebellion.

A wonderful help for my family - to be passed on.

Our group of four couples "taught" ourselves the associated class based on the principles in this Christian-based book; three couples for rescue and one for prevention. I am now teaching the class for the third time and, as word spreads, several dozen families have been helped in rescuing their rebellious teens and by learning prevention techniques and guiding principles used in raising their children. We recommend it highly.

A welcome resource when your child has you at wits end

Our church used this as the core text for a series of group sessions for hurting parents-- parents of teens in various states of rebellion, destructive lifestyle choices, and apathy. It proved to be quite helpful, well-grounded in Christian principles, and with many good insights and practical steps to take.

Excellent book!

13 years ago, we belonged to one of Buddy Scott's support groups and used his book as our manuel. I am firmly convinced that my husband & I would have been divorced now if we didn't have the help from Buddy's book. It is clear and concise with common sense approach to dealing with an out of control teen. It also gives principals to help younger children before they reach that horrible stage in their life. I will forever be grateful for Buddy's help! I am always recommending his book to those who are struggling with difficult teens. It's like receiving something substantial to hold onto along with the Word of God in a emotional emergency.

This is my all time favorite book. It is about thirteen year old Eric Kirby. He went parasailing in hopes of seeing real live dinosaurs. His parasail crashed on Isla Sorna. He made
friends with a young iguanadon he named Iggy and at the end of
the book he rescues Dr.Grant. It is continued by Jurassic Park 3 the Junior Novelization.

Thirteen-year-old Eric Kirby goes para-sailing above Jurassic Park with his friend Ben, with hopes of seeing real live dinosaurs. But after a minor accident where Ben dies he is trapped on the island... With no escape. It's just him and a dynasty of ferocious dinosaurs!
This isn't a very good adult book, but children with an intrest in dinosaurs or Jurassic Park will love it.

A thrilling book inspired by the upcoming movie.

All thirteen-year-old Eric Kirby wanted was a chance to get to see real, live dinosaurs up close. So when his mom's boyfriend, Ben, offered him the opportunity, he jumped at the chance. Eric and Ben will get to parasail over the Jurassic Park Island, observing the dinosaurs from a safe distance. But something goes very wrong, and the two fall from the sky onto the island. Only Eric survives the fall, and he is trapped in a hostile prehistoric environment where he is the prey. It will take all of his wits and courage to stay alive until help arrives - but how can one kid survive among the deadliest predators ever to walk the earth? This was a thrilling story, not only for fans of the movies, but for readers who like adventure stories. The book ended with a cliffhanger that will lead into the new Jurassic Park movie, so now I have to wait until the movie comes out to find out what happens to Eric, which won't be for a whole month, or read the novelization. Still, this was an exciting, although short, book.
