I don't imagine that anyone of any age could make it through this disappointing and boring novel, about a 14 year old who wants her parents back together.

I was looking for a book that would give me detailed information on the the field of nursing and what it has to offer, especially those looking for a second career. The book did meet that requirement at the bare minimal level. A book on entry level nursing should excite the reader and entice him or her to enter this fascinating field, giving the reader some information on what to expect in Nursing. This book was very dry and seemed to be written on an elementary level. Although there were a few cartoons trying to provide some comic relief, they really weren't appropriate to the subject matter. Much of the areas in the appendix seemed redundant, and took up too much space. The chapter on various profiles of nurses in the book didn't give an idea of the vast spectrum of Nursing, rather it gave several reviews on the same basic profile and seemed to limit itself to one area of the country (the Chicago area).
If you are in high school looking for some basic information on nursing, this is a book to get you started, but please know that there are better books out there to give you a broader view on what encompasses the life of a nursing student and what to expect. Here's a better book I've finished reading: "How to Survive and Even Love Nursing School." This provides more information on what to expect in the field of nursing.

Disappointing. In reality this "book" is little more than a catalog for the large Klemantaski collection of photos. Not only is it a very thin volume, but it's small too - only about 5"x7". The selection of pictures is very good and the reproduction is better than average. Text is minimal, with only a 1- or 2-sentence caption per picture. It's really too bad, because Klem's body of work is generally outstanding.

Good for research but not exactly coffee-table blurb.

As a former Goldman employee, I found this report was disappointing and out of date. A more useful report on Goldman is the Vault.com 2002 Guide to Goldman Sachs or "The Culture of Success."

This book caught my eye because of the word, "Samarkand". For I truly enjoyed The Amulet of Samarkand by J. Stroud and expected a similar magic. I also read many appraising reviews of this book posted on Amazon.co.uk As I started few chapters of this book, it slowly revealed its inner magic, which was good, and also of its bit too violent images (in my taste - for a children's book). The way the evil magician, at a young age, do away his OWN FAMILY duplicating the style of young Kate of The East of Eden: locking up the family in the house and setting conflagration, is an overly sinister imagination and should not placed in a children's novel - in my opinion.

I really didn't like this book. I didn't like most of the characters, either.

The protagonist is a foolish girl named Jessica. She is in the 4th grade, has an older sister in college and another sister in middle school. Helen, the middle girl was the only one I liked in this Saga of Sillyness. Bright and independent, Helen is the only realist in that household. The girls' dad was a shadow figure.

I could not stand the girls' mother. She was clingy and needy and singularly intrusive. I didn't like the way she thought she could patch up Jessica's rift with another girl and literally buy her child friends. I also didn't like the way she pretended to like Jessica's suggestion to do her room in a patriotic theme while subtly steering her away to what she, the mother wanted the room to look like. Forcing that flokati rug on Jessica while pretending to let her make decisions really tore it for me.

I also didn't like the way she would call Jessica for a hugfest while the child was getting ready for school. It seemed to me that she could have at least waited until Jessica came home, rather than calling her over just as she was about to leave for school.

Jessica does a lot of stupid and inane things. She writes herself notes signed from "a friend" with the idea of luring other kids to like her. Jessica was infantile and foolish and impossible to like. A pie in the face for Jessica!
