Oneida Vocabulary
Helpful Votes: 3 out of 4 total.

This is a modern reprint of a nineteenth-century vocabulary of the Oneida Indian language. It is a very small volume, and there is no phonetic key. An interesting book from a linguistic persepective or if you'd like to learn a few words of Oneida, but don't buy it expecting to learn how to speak the language.

can vampires truly fall in love?

Review Date: 2004-02-25
in this story the author told a tail of a a vampire who motives in life has taken a drastic change. he somewhat was lost in a cold world searching for something,or should i say someone he as well didnt comprehend.
in the end of the story you find yourself asking yourself, if love is actually a true feeling? or is it something decievefull? or can someone manipulate truth to their advantage. overall this story was good, it reflected a diffrent perception towards vampires. the understanding that not all vampires are the same, they are all unique with diffrent gifts. the story was moving, captivating. the author showed alot of passion in this novel i loved it!

I hope you enjoy reading it as much as i enjoyed writting it

Wild Horses

Peaceful and informative
Helpful Votes: 0 out of 0 total.
Review Date: 2008-05-07
This book shows the basic life of wild horses in the old west. Stanley must have spent some time observing them, because he points out, in a very kid-oriented fashion, many aspects of their lives. It's a little dull for youngsters (unless they are obsessed with horses, of course) but it is informative and the illustrations are lovely and possess the same passion as the text.

This is a really great book for kids who love horses - and our kids do! Now, our kids want to save all the wild horses in the world. They've read this book over and over.

A set of simple exercises that will loosen the stiff joints and muscles
Helpful Votes: 0 out of 0 total.
Review Date: 2007-06-14
As someone who does a great deal to stay in shape, I am always looking for a new way to exercise. Most of my activity is walking and pushing a lawn mower, and given that I am getting older, I often have sore muscles and joints. Therefore, I am starting to incorporate exercises that loosen my muscles rather than build them up. That is the context within which I examined this book.
As the title implies, the exercises are all easy to perform and they do limber you up. I am not sure that six minutes is enough time to go through the entire set, as there are exercises for the thighs, buttocks, calves & ankles, stomach & waist, arms, shoulders & chest and back and neck. They work well as simple warm-ups or as a set of exercises to start the day. I spend a great deal of time working on a computer, so those designed for the upper back, neck and lower arms are especially valuable to me. Stopping for a few minutes and performing some of these exercises really makes a difference at the end of the day. I no longer suffer as much from the lingering aches in the upper back and neck due to long hours at the keyboard.

Through the Eyes of a caregiver gives a thorough look at the many many stages of feelings a caregiver and the patient goes through during a life-taking illness. I believe this book will help so many people deal with the feeling of helplessness and the devastation of the "AIDS" disease.
Everyone should read.

Screamingly Funny Short Tales of (Not Entirely) Everyday Life
Helpful Votes: 0 out of 0 total.
Review Date: 2005-12-19
In the seven short stories contained in this book, Jennifer Rowe places ordinary characters in seemingly everyday situations, and by adding mythical twists she creates wickedly funny fairy-tales for adults. Her style is dry and matter-of-fact, which is reminiscent of the deadpan comedian who has the audience rolling about with laughter.

Being a storyteller myself, I also found Angela's Mandrake to be a helpful example of how to incorporate and convey humour in the telling of stories about everyday situations. This book is a short, easy, delightful, and extremely funny read. I recommend it to all adults who are still children at heart.

This large volume reference for scarabs, seals and other amulets in the Palestine museum is extremely helpful to someone attempting to translate their own scarabs or learn more about hieroglyphs used on Egyptian scarabs. The only complaint I have is the quality of the plates on the reproduction makes a number of the pieces difficult to see. I do not know if the original printing was clearer but these plates are a bit weak.

As good as it gets in the world of Guatemalan textiles
Helpful Votes: 7 out of 7 total.
Review Date: 2000-05-14
This book, written by the curator of western hemisphere textiles at the Textile Museum in Washington DC, serves as a primer of Guatemalan textile traditions. The photographs are high quality, including some vintage photographs from Guatemalan villages. But this is not just a pretty picture book. The author traces the evolution of textile traditions in a number of villages over the last century. The material is meticulously researched and referenced. The book demonstrates an intimate knowledge of the Guatemalan textiles in collections in the US, but might have been enhanced by field work and examination of textiles still in use today in many Guatemalan villages. This book serves as the standard for other scholars working in the field.

When I read the "twist" I had to re-read it to make sure of what I read. Took me by surprise, and shifted the whole plot on it's head. A great read!
