Tommy DoLittle is a fun and funny picture book about what happens when perpetually pajama-clad Tommy, the laziest boy in the world- so lazy that his dog walks him- actually reads the words in a book. His subsequent adventures are as improbable as they are amusing, and Rowe's illustrations are witty and bursting with energy. Kids will want to read this over and over again.

Since Amazon didn't post an editorial review for this book, here's the description from the back of the book to help you decide if this book is for you: Early fronteir love story. "A swindler's lechery and greed drove luscious Treasure Ryan out of Tennessee in search of a new life with her kin down in Natchez. Only getting there meant a perlious trek down the wild and lawless trail they called the Nathez Trace. True, golden-haired Treasure knew how to ride and shoot, but she was innocent of the ways of men -- until a cocksure adventurer named Fortner Copeland came along. With his bare fists, Fortner fought for Treasure's honor, rescuing her from a mob of cutthroats. He was gallant and kind, but at night, under the open skies, his hard body laying so close to hers taught her passion -- and torment..."

DO NOT EVER UNDERESTIMATE THE POWERS OF THE PULLEIN THOMPSONS!!!

This book is the one and only short story collection that ANY pony mad girl needs!! This book is full of funny, spooky, and heart warming stories, (one of my favourite ones was a spooky story, about a skeleton rider, but i will leave you to find out what happens!) and i didn't put it down untill i had read it from cover to cover!! Another of my favourites is Isobel's Pony. If you aren't a big fan of reading, then you could read a story every night, or, if you are like me, you could carry it around untill you have finished it!! I'm not a big fan of short stories, but this collection is fantastic! It is absolutely unmissable, and you must read it!!

OTTOMAN MYSTIC ROMANCE

The book tries to understand the interactions between orientalism and national philology ýn the context of Ottoman literature. It is an attempt of constructing the poetics of Ottoman Turkish mystic romance. While it traces the polemics of orientalist philology and Turkish Republic, which try to repress the Ottoman literary past it also describes "Husn u Ask(Beauty and Love)" of Sheyh Galip which is the summit of the Ottoman literature. The book is one of the first examples of the post-orientalist philology. There is a book which is similar to this book: Walter Andrews's Poetry's Voice Society's song: The Ottoman Lyric Poetry.

How sad to see that this amazing little gem is out of print. The subtitle - "How to Get Rich, Powerful, Sexy, & Healthy While You're Killing Time" says it all. It's simply a little cerebral and physical exercise book for those moments when you are in between tasks. Waiting at a red light, watching TV, in the grocery store, waiting to fall asleep, etc. Ziegler's illustrations alone are worth the price of the book.

It's more than just a facial toning, flex-your-thighs-while-the-spin-cycles-finishes sort of book. There are helpful tidbits on self-confidence, motivation, and stress relief. If you can, find a copy of this book, buy it, and cherish it. I've owned my copy since 1983, and have treasured it since the first time I opened its cover.

Don't be confused by the title!

This is not a self-help book! A friend gave me this book several years ago. I have no background in psychology, behavioural science or sociology but this book gave me a framework in which to ponder and discuss the behaviour of people such as Mother Theresa and the person next door. I think Sophie's Choice did the same thing in relation to philosophy. I have recommended it to many of my friends and colleagues since. There is a lot of anxiety born of confusion in the world because people aren't able to analyse or comprehend their own and other people's behaviour. Dorothy discusses this in terms of a perpetual wanting of more and an inability to recognise it in ourselves. Well done Dorothy!

An excellent concept book explaining how plants grow, what they need to grow, and how people and animals depend them. The book includes some great experiments to complement the concepts.

As someone who grew up in Wharton, it was heartwarming to see the images of this special town. The writing and remembrances of the Kelly's rings true. It brought me "home" ... if only for the time it took to read this wonderful book. (The only thing I missed was Lobb's Luncheonette across from St. Mary's). Congratulations to Alan and Charlotte. I can't wait to share it with my nephews!

A excellent beginner's guide to white water kayaking
Helpful Votes: 0 out of 0 total.
Review Date: 2000-07-12
I bought this book some eight years ago when I started whitewater paddling. 127 pages long, it really is an A to Z of whitewater kayaking covering areas such as equipment selection; understanding river features; basic & advanced kayak control & technique; training & streching techniques; safety & rescue; competive disciplines.

Its all presented in an easy to read format, with a step-by-step approach, and plenty of color photographs and sketchs that illustrate the ideas and concepts very well.

The only negative thing I would find is that some parts, particularily in relation to equipment selection seem slighly dated now. However I would definitely recommend this book to any kayaking novice. It is an excellent introduction to the sport.

What a find! My grandson is hard of hearing and we are trying to teach him sign language. This book is a great tool to teach him the signs for the different animals.... He is so happy to be able to communicate and this has helped us teach him American Sign Language! Now on to Whose Nose and Whose Feet!!!
