I think this book is really good. It is a book which I read in a day because I could not put it down. I read it all day! I think people should read this book beacause it has a brilliant start, middle and end just what all books need. The story never gets boring. I highly recommend this book to people from 8-12.

This is a fascinating exploration of the many ways we think of time. My teenage son and I had fun reading the book together over several days. What makes the book especially enjoyable, given the short attention span of teenagers, is that the authors present each topic on one page. This enabled us to skip around in the book and concentrate on the topic of interest for that day. Another attention hook, ample space on each page depicts the topic visually in a cartoon format.
The book starts with how we think of time. It then switches to the ways we keep track of time, the psychology of time, and the physics of time. The book ends with interesting puzzles of time. Be prepared for lively discussions, giggles, "aha" experiences, and the warm feeling that comes from enriching conversations with your teenager.

The pictures are wonderful. It's filled with a lot of radiographic info that every chiropractic student should know for the boards and hard and soft tissue pathology classes. Although Dr. Yochum at times may write in a highly professional fashion, his thoughts are conveyed with the utmost care and knowledge on the subject. His textbook and his study guide great foundations of knowledge for any chiropractic student and now being a doctor of chiropractic, I have been using his book as a reference for a few years now. For the chiropractic boards, I used the following as references which helped me to pass and not spend another 6 months in limbo. Fantastic Book! It provides accurate information on Argentinean, Brazilian, Chilean, and other countries railroads. Lots of really good and rare pictures. Must be in every railroad enthusiast library.

This gentle story is beautifully illustrated with bright, colorful watercolor paintings. The story is especially appealing for young children, ages 3 to 9.

okay, i had to get over the title, but the plot is riveting. Its about a serial killer;a woman serial killer. What is interesting about this book, is her motives in killing. Usually we hear about men hearing voices of the devil, or men that have had violent pasts. Belle Gunness's perspective is a lot different. In some instances it is for her own preservation...not necessarily bloodlust. At the same time she is capable of some pretty heinous deeds....just because she wants to kill. What is amazing about this story is that she gets away with it for a long time. How? She is a woman living at the turn of the twentieth century. Women were not supposed to be capable of these things.

The story line moves along quite fast. Its definatly not a book you have to struggle through to get finished. Even if you find her acts atrocious, even if you are sickened by what she does, you feel compelled to finish it. There are some graphic scenes in the book that are a little disturbing. If you like to try to understand how evil people tick, this is a great window(albiet a scary one)into the mind of one evil woman.

As a mental health professional and former English teacher, I read Risking Intensity with particular interest in its holistic, respectful, and playful focus on sense of self as a foundation for teaching, writing, and being. Some emphasis must be given to the playful side of this book, as there is much humor and sensitivity to the ironies of human life. Distinctive features are author Michaels' artful inclusion of proven class activities and student work to illustrate the mind-body relationship in the creative process and her thoughtful guidance to teachers (readers) in understanding their own process as poets. Reading this book is an unfolding, organic process in itself, reflecting the content of the book and making it eminently re-readable.
