Fun to ReadReview Date: 2007-07-20
The story is about a boy who makes a ball out of a ball of string so he has something to play soccer with. He "kicks it and kicks it and he kick, kick, kicks it" until the ball unravells. He imagines it is lost to him and goes searching for it. Then discovers it again after "roll, roll, rolling" it back up.
The best things about this book are the delightfully easy language and the lovely simple illustrations. My son asks for me to read it "again" every time. I don't mind when it's enjoyable for me, too.

Awesome Book!Review Date: 2007-03-14
The character development is wonderful and I see this being one the first book of many books that can possibly follow. Perhaps another book can be Savannah starting Junior High and then High School...or the series can continue at age 10. Regardless if another book is written, this book, The Big Red Bike, is one I would recommend for anyone to read...no matter what age.

The bird book Nebraska deservesReview Date: 2002-03-08
Finding out about these treasures has been difficult. Birding in Nebraska in most of the twentieth century was a particularist affair, meaningful communications generally oral and private. All this has changed, however, with the publication of Ross Silcock et al.'s new Birds of Nebraska, an exemplary production providing native and visitor alike with a comprehensive introduction to the state's birds. Each of the 440+ species so far recorded is treated fully, with detailed summaries of its temporal and geographic distribution, abundance, and status in the state. For out-of-staters, rudimentary bird-finding information is provided, its usefulness varying with its specificity: for some species, directions are provided to likely sites, while for others the advice consists solely in the identification of promising habitat types.
The book is handsomely and well produced by the University of Nebraska Press. Editorial slips are remarkably few for a work of this scope and detail; spelling errors ("Ulnus" for "Ulmus," for example) are nearly non-existent, and the prose is generally clear and readable. Nebraska birders, it goes without saying, will find this the most useful book on their birding bookshelf, but the rest of us too will profit from the impressive new standard set by this work.

Best of a Good SeriesReview Date: 2003-12-07
The Lone Pine field guides all cover roughly 300 species with one page per species. A map showing where the species can be seen within the area covered by the field guide accompanies every description.
In some cases, the drawings of the birds are more accurate than that of the more comprehensive field guides.
This is my favorite of the Lone Pine field guides because in the description it also includes best sites to see the species. For example, for Snowy Owl, Toronto's Pearson International Airport is mentioned. So, this book is not only an excellent beginner/intermediate field guide, but also and excellent basic bird finder's guide as well.

Kate Hill writes excellent and sexy vampire stories!Review Date: 2007-01-03
In Vampire Master, Melanie longs for a dominant lover and goes to Burgundy Peak to meet with Zigor, an ancient vampire and the owner of the club. It's an intense and terrific story!
Next up is, Vampire Crusader, a powerful and touching story of Charles and Marie who are separated when Charles is
Then, Dechrista gets turned after a wild night and wakes up with a Vampire Guardian. Her opposite, or is he?
Fourth is Intimate Relations, about two 'intimates' (ancient vampires) who work hard to deny their smoldering attraction for each other but realized that they are meant to be together.
The last story is a wonderful Christmas story about Onan who's a character in the other stories and the tale of Elizabeth who was his love. It's a great story about healing the heart.
All wonderful stories and highly recommended!
