When I saw this book, I just had to have it. Mikhail Baryshnikov was "the best dancer alive" as praised by "Time" magazine,
and remains to this day an absolutely stunning performer. The beautiful black and white photos carry more artistic weight
than color could have achieved, and they illustrate his unrivaled talent and dedication to his art through both performance
and rehearsal shots. If there is one small criticism to be given, it's that the text part of the book was not long enough
for my liking. It covered many pages, but I simply wanted to know more. However, to be fair, that kind of indepth information
is best saved for a full blown biography, and that is not this book. It is more a pictorial biography, and in this respect,
it shines. Baryshnikov is a marvel, a living legend, and "Baryshnikov in Black and White" shows us why.

Everything you need to know about this ship.

The Battleship "Warspite" was one of 5 ships of the Queen Elizabeth class and went on to serve with great distinction in World
War 1 (including the Battle of Jutland) and World War 2 before finally being scrapped in 1947. Today, almost 60 years after
she fired her last shot in anger (10 September 1944 off Le Havre), there are those who will remember serving on this magnificent
ship and others who are interested in every facet of her history as well as her construction and technical detail. This is
an excellent book for all such enthusiasts.
Conway Maritime Press are well known for their "Anatomy of the Ship" series in which they provide the finest technical documentation for specific ships or ship types ever published. "The Battleship Warspite" is hard-back measuring 10¼" (wide) x 9¾" with 120 pages of detailed and factual information. The wide format allows the publishers to produce first class detailed line drawings of every aspect of this ship in a size that is easy to see and follow. All the information is there - right down to the last nut and bolt.
Commencing with a potted history of the Queen Elizabeth class, we then have a career summary of the Warspite before coming on to a series of "Tables" which provide us with the technical details of construction, general arrangements, hull structure, protection, machinery, comparisons, armament, fire control, aircraft and so on. Next is 22 pages of historic photographs followed by 80 pages of detailed line drawings and technical information.
And detailed it is too; Under just one main heading "General arrangements" we have drawing after drawing showing every aspect of this ship in cross section - deck by deck and room by room, from aft to bows. Then everything is repeated from above as we work our way down through every level of the ship from the highest part of the superstructure to the keel. These are followed with more specific technical information under such headings as hull construction, machinery, accommodation, superstructure, rig, armament, fire control, fittings, disruptive camouflage, ground tackle, boats and finally aircraft arrangements.
The inclusion of even the humble Signal Locker (that box comprising almost 100 small "pigeon-holes" in which the different signal flags were kept) gives an indication of the attention to detail put into this book and, once again, I congratulate both the author and publishers for a job well done.

This lilting little book is a joy to read and to memorize (with the repeated reads you're sure to have requested) ...but
its simple lines can be discussed page by page with examples appropriate to the maturity of your readers - and.... look a
little more closely... The examples can have mature parallels with your closest friends and in your marraige. We enjoyed
it from the library and are purchasing a copy for our home!

This is a book filled with beautiful pictures of the untouched countryside of Australia. Australia, which was almost as
large as the whole of Europe at the time this book was published, is a land of rivers, lakes, mountains and beautiful beaches.
Also included are the most popular tourist attractions at the time it was published.

This was my daughter's first "favorite book". Received as a gift from her uncle when she was 9 months old, she became immediately
attached to it. We read it and reread it so many times that if I started reciting the short story (and I could recite it in
my sleep by now!), she would crawl over to the bookshelf and pick out the correct book, and bring it to me.
A plus for parents of babies and toddlers who don't like baths: this wonderful book will make personal hygiene fun and familiar, and much less of a hassle.

Bob Jackman and Ross Miller are two of the finest political scientists today. Their book--Before Norms--takes a daring and
engaging position opposing the idea that one can trace political outcomes to cultural behavior. Instead, Jackman & Miller
argue that one can more accurately understand political outcomes through institutional design. This book is sure to serve
as a lightning rod for debate in the years to come on how one can explain political outcomes.

This book is very heart warming. Story tells how the Ottoman peoples ventured from place to place taking only things of
importance until they created their own empire. They taught themselves to embroidery using examples from their surroundings.
Supper great book with color photos of their georgeous embroidery. Check out numerous books on Ottoman Embroidery.
