This has helped our whole family. The only way to change your child is to change yourself. But it is always easier said than done, but it can be done. He reccomends reviewing a few chapters each day for a week then periodically, if you don't you will fall back into your old ways. But when you read it he shows you things you may not realize you are doing.
Practical, not hard to apply, every parent should own this book.

In a few minutes of watching the local news on television, you can see the results of living in an angry world. On the television those results seem far removed from our current family situation. Yet each parent needs the coping skills in this book from psychiatrist Dr. Ross Campbell.

As Dr. Campbell explains in his introduction, "No one can rightly handle anger without being taught. The correct skills don't come naturally. Mature anger management must be taught at home, but it is not happening in many homes today. As you look around your community at some of the families you know, you will realize many people have bottled-up anger, they simply don't know what to do about it....This book will help you understand exactly what anger is and how we express it. You'll be surprised by some of the answers. We will discuss the stages of our children's lives and how anger manifests itself at each juncture, each bend in the road. We will discover some practical actions to take when we face anger in our homes."

If you are a parent, you need this book. In fact, buy TWO COPIES--one for yourself and one for a friend. Spread the word about this well-crafted book on a relevant hot topic for any parent.

Nisbitt and Ross bring to life the field of judgment and decision making. It is a scholarly analysis of the subject. The book is essential reading for every pschologist, trial lawyer and any other person who must understand how people make judgments and decisions.

This is a landmark work in the field of social psychology, but it is also of great interest to a more general audience. The subject of the book is how humans think and make decisions. Since we all do this, and how well we do this has a considerable impact on our quality of life, this is one book that I believe should be part of everyone's education. The book is written for undergraduate students in social psychology so it is heavier reading than popular psychology books, but it is correspondingly more detailed and informative.

I have shared this book with my first grade, second grade, and third grade classes. They all love Honor Brown. The story is just so silly. In fact, I was online right now ordering several copies for my nephews and another copy for me. I need a new one. As a teacher it's great to start reading a story and the kids look mildly interested until they hear, "and the teacher was a warty toad." All of a sudden, you've got everyone's attention.

A simply hilarious picturebook

Why would Honor Brown want to go to school when it's filled with evil teachers and friends who are crooks? I Hate School is a simply hilarious picturebook which will strongly appeal to any young reader who dislike school and appreciates fun cartoon-like drawings and big imaginations.

I was pleased by the response my 3.5 year old son had after reading this book. He definitely got the point that being polite counts and it isn't so hard to say please and thank you!

Sister J. G. Moore - Review
Helpful Votes: 0 out of 0 total.
Review Date: 2007-01-07
"I'm Still in His Hands," by Pastor Douglas Ross, clearly defines the character and aquisition of salvation. As well, it thoroughly explains the solidity of salvation as gifted through Jesus, by God's grace in accordance with His Word and Faithfulness.

Ture believers who have confessed and accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior want to share the "Good News" of the gospel, as commanded by God the Father. Having become "new creatures" in Christ, true believers strongly desire others to experience the joy and benefits of salvation provided by Jesus through the Grace of God.

This book, "I'm Still in His Hands," is essential as a learning device and tool for assisting in accomplishing these purposes; and in assuring confidence in the eternity of one's salvation.

It's truly a blessing enriching lives.

The poetry contributed by First Lady, Gwen, express the humility, appreciation, comfort, confidence, and victory experienced as an overcomer; as having received the Grace of the Father's Salvation.

First Lady Gwen commands with compelling urgency, the need for all to put on righteousness, accept salvation and preach the gospel without delay. She warns, the coming of Christ, for His own, could be any day.

I find her writings a worthy compliment, keeping tone with the majesty of the book. ---Sister, J. G. Moore.

One of the best in the series

This book is perhaps the best of the series. You start off with the introduction of Janessa into the series, Toby's love child that he was unaware of. AFter exploring how the family deals with its new-found child, and the culture shock involved, you have a Hot Story...The Chicago Fire of 1871.

This novel's portrayal of the Great Fire is tremendous. One gets the adrenaline and fear of what a massive fire can do just by reading this book. It is a rush and hard to put down.

Definitely recommended.

I've had this book since I was a child, and am now reading it to my kids. In fact, as the guest reader in my 3rd grader's classroom, I just read several poems from it and the class was enraptured, and want me to come back to read more. The poems collected in this volume are stellar - child pleasing while not silly or simple. Our favorites are James Whitcomb Riley's Little Orphant Annie, Longfellow's The Children's Hour, Bunner's One, Two, Three, and Edna St. Vincent Millay's hauntingly sad The Ballad of the Harp Weaver. I've never seen these in another poetry anthology. You'll also find the great classics - John Keats' La Belle Dames Sans Merci, Longfellow's The Wreck of the Hesperus, Lear's The Jumblies, Carroll's The Jabberwocky, Poe's Annabelle Lee, and many of Anonymous' favorite poems and limericks. If you only own one poetry book, this is it!

A true keeper that I've had for 20 years.

My father gave me this book over 20 years ago, and it has been literally around the world with me. I read it when I am feeling good or bad and I now share the poems with my 3 year old son. We always find something to cheer us up and make us laugh. I hope to instill a love of poetry in him and this book is essential.

A MUST for the serious analyst!

Review Date: 2008-05-14
I read this book in 1997 when a colleague of mine recommended it. I was surprised that this book was not part of the 'popular' object oriented books at the time. It explains the foundation and thinking behind what the other books address in a superficial fashion. This is not about learning how to express designs using some notation. This book is about the thinking that goes behind object oriented modeling, specifically information modeling, regardless of the notation you currently use.
If you are a serious business modeler, business or systems analyst, and you would like to distinguish yourself in your career, this book is for you.
A word of preparation: Be patient with yourself reading this book, this work is not tips-and-techniques that you can skim and add to your bag of tricks. It took me a few readings until I started 'getting' the possibilities that the content produced for me.

I was surprised to find no image of the cover of this book and no customer reviews. At the second thought, it makes sense. This book is for IT practitioners with solid theoreteical background in Computer Science. The book is not complex, but requires patience. It is about all the object-oriented theory behind the most fundamental behaviour of object instances - Create - Read - Update - Delete. All explained in terms of theory of sets using logical predicates, which is part of formal logics.

Anyway, once I bought and read this book in 1998 - 5 years ago - I was hooked on object orientation. Microsoft's ADO, J2EE's EJB's and JDO instantly and naturally made sense to me once they surfaced in IT practice as newly emerged technologies.

I have impressed and opened the eyes of many people of intelligence with my super deep understanding of these issues yet numerous hight tech red necks vere left unmoved.

If you want to feel CRUD and brearth CRUD in Obj-Orient. terms, plus to have really deep knowledge of Object-toRelational mapping, buy it and read it. Plus, buy Kilov's 'Business Specifications' book.

Luana Ross demonstrates superb scholarship by weaving a rich variety of sources, including written documents and oral interviews. The result is a work which provides voice for the women prisoners, in particular Native American women prisoners. This ground breaking book provides an analytical portrayal of the experiences of these women. She sets it within the framework of realities of life in Montana, as well as, larger concepts of racism and colonization. Inventing the Savage is a must read book in the field.

A brilliant study on Native women in prison
Helpful Votes: 6 out of 6 total.

This book is a model of what research on Native communities should look like. Ross allows Native women in prison to tell their stories, and then she brilliantly contextualizes these stories within the larger context of racism, sexism, and colonialism. Unlike so many other books on Native communities, she does not portray Native peoples as tragic characters, but demonstrates the ways they resist oppression. A must read

I ordered this from England for $96! But it's an incredible book. I am a Christian pastor and teacher who is immersing myself in Gospel of Thomas. Of the dozen or so books I have on this I rank it one of the tops. Pagels of course is good, along with Patterson and Davies. But Ross comes out in a most striking way. By the way, I got it in two days!

First hand spiritual understanding, September 30, 2004
Reviewer: haydon-b from Bath, Somerset United Kingdom
Thomas is thought to have been unable to write and to have dictated these unfamiliar statements of Jesus perhaps on different occasions and in no apparent order. Hugh McGregor Ross has regrouped the statements by subject, greatly helping the reader's understanding. His scholarly notes on each section provide insight of considerable depth arising from a lifetime of spiritual work rather than dry academic punditry. Very attractive to anybody wishing to find a fresh, strong, clear view of His teaching. Maybe not many know of this book but it could become a classic as reader's enthusiasm fires their friends.

This book is the most cogent, insightful, detailed, and thoughtful of those written on the Gospel of Thomas. Brilliant!! A must-read for anybody interested in the early history of the church or the true teachings of Jesus.
