Kathy Ross' latest craft book Crafts for Christian Values is a wonderful collection of fun and easy activities. The crafts work to help children learn Christian values and develop life guidelines.

I have interviewed Kathy many times for my online Craft web site Families-First.com She has written many outstanding craft books which are hugely popular with families, clubs, day cares, and school settings. Her experience as a religious instructor, coupled with her vivid and sparkling imagination, creates effective and beautiful crafts that any child can and will want to do.

Kathy's work is instrumental in helping children learn about life and growing up.

Great book for any teacher

This craft book was just what I was looking for to make my Sunday School and Jr Church lessons come alive to my students. The children love making these crafts, which go along with our teaching. Kathy Ross is great to use house hold items and put them together in a very unique and creative way. I love it. Thanks.

There are many other books on the subject, I know I have them all, but take it from a herpetologist who works with these guys, this is the best one. Great basic descriptions of species, behavior, physiology, attacks on humans, pred-prey relations, mating and baby gator rearing. Wonderful pics, appropriate for kids and adults. Written by a series of experts in their fields for the broadest possible audience.

An animated cultural-social portraiture

Senegal camouflaged face is unmasked.
Senegal comes to life in this book.
The depiction of the day by day life, social sceneries, traditions and mode de vie is refreshing.
Senegal is a forgotten or ignored destination for those who solely search for Tia Maria and the glitters of Acapulco.
Yet, Senegal natural beauty, silver beaches and forests are wonders on earth.
The book is written by a concerned and well-informed writer. He painted us vivid tableaus of Senegalese arts, literature and music.
However, he could not free himself from the stigma of colonialism. This should not diminish the quality of his book.

This survey of uniquely Senegalese culture is involving and exciting

Advanced high school to college-level collections strong in African studies will welcome the specific volumes in 'Culture and Customs of Africa', of which CULTURE AND CUSTOMS OF SENEGAL is one. From literature and academics to family and gender, music and sports, this survey of uniquely Senegalese culture is involving and exciting - and perfect for reports.

Written with empathy and sorrow for the sufferings of the Dahcotah

Written by the wife of an army officer, and compiled over the course of seven years in the 1840s at Fort Snelling, in what would one day become Minnesota Territory, Dahcotah Or, Life And Legends Of The Sioux was a groundbreaking look into Sioux (Dakota) customs and manners from a long-term observer, first published in 1849. Now republished in a new edition with a biographical preface about author Mary Eastman and featuring the quality painted landscapes of the original reproduced in color, Dahcotah Or, Life And Legends Of The Sioux retains its unique keen insight and attention to detail that distinguished it over one hundred and fifty years ago. Though Dahcotah is not an entirely unbiased account - for one thing, the author was a devout Christian who wished to see all Native Americans converted to her religion - yet it is written with empathy and sorrow for the sufferings of the Dahcotah people, retold in individual stories as well as broad descriptions, and deserves its reputation as a frontier classic.

Excellent, authentic non-fictional story book on Indian life

I found this book extremely interesting, as it is written by Mary Henderson Eastman, who actually got to know the Native Americans who lived near Fort Snelling, where Mary's Husband, Seth Eastman, was stationed. I was completely engulfed by her stories, and sometimes felt as if I were right there with her, experiencing first hand what these Native Americans were like and how they lived. I applaud the Afton Historical Society Press for their efforts in preserving our country's history, and for putting a small part of that history in such a beautiful book--lovely paper, and a stunning dust jacket. Anyone who enjoys history, or just a good story, should DEFINITELY buy this book!!

This story was an unexpected delight, especially considering that it is a MacDonald book that does not take place in England. A great coming of age novel about a young women's search for identity in her family's heritage. A great book to curl up with on a cool fall night.

This is a great book

MacDonald really made a great book! This book is about a 19th century irish girl who wants independence from her mother and father. So she goes off to Sweden on her own. In the end she finds romance. This is one of the best books I've read. Finally a romance where the woman is not a lovestruck doll.

The year is 1910, and when Paula Collins marries Christopher Jennings, she little understands the demons that seem to drive him. And then, when they return to Collinsport, with Christopher's strange servants, things begin to get frightening. Paula is trapped in a waking nightmare, with only one friend to turn to, the strange man from England, Barnabas Collins. Something very strange is going on in Collinsport, the locals believe that a werewolf is prowling their woods, but that's not all that is about in Collinsport after dark!

Canadian author Dan Ross, under the pseudonym of Marilyn Ross, wrote this suspenseful, Gothic horror story, along with 32 other Dark Shadows novels. These novels were based on the American television show Dark Shadows (1966-71), but as they were written at the same time as the show was unfolding, there are some discrepancies between the books and the show. In spite of that, though, Ross's characters are wonderfully fleshed out, and as always story itself is absolutely gripping.

So, if you are a fan of Gothic horror, you will like this book very much. If you are a fan of Dark Shadows you will absolutely *love* this book. (I did.) I highly recommend this book!

I have not written many reviews but this book was a wonderful surprise. I borrowed it and have had a hard time giving it back until I get my own copy! I especially like the exercises that allow you to explore and practice on a small scale and see the wisdom gained by this spiritual practice. Highly recommended!

Ross Heaven is one of the finest wrietrs in spirituality. This is his second best book in my opinion, only dragged down by his collabration with a lesser author whos own work is questionqble. Mr Heaven makes some wonderful insights once again and this book taught me so much. I prase it hily.

I just got this book for my birthday. I am 11 years old. I liked this book a lot because the women in the book seemed real to me. You never really hear about what was going on for the women in the Bible. I always wondered! This book brings them to life and helps me understand what it was like for them back then. There are a lot of beautiful illustrations too. They are so beautiful! I like to draw and the book gave me a lot of inspiration to become an artist.

Parents will be interested in this one!

I was moved to write this review after reading this wonderful book with my three daughters, ages 4 to 12. As a parent, I am always looking for books that stimulate discussion as well as entertain. Ross' stories truly bring these heroines to life, and Teis' illustrations are superb. Together, they create a vivid world that brings ancient lessons of courage, hope, and inner strength to modern times. The author thoughtfully provides introductions to each story which help to set them in cultural and historical context. I hope this beautiful book meets much success, it certainly deserves it.
