It is clear the author has a rich industry background which he shares with the reader throughout the text quite well via examples
and case studies. I picked the book up as a resource and found myself reading many sections word for word, finding in many
chapters a `reservoir of knowledge' and an appreciation of knowledge to different industry situations. Also noteworthy is
the focus on Business Strategic Planning. The Appendix incorporated industrial marketing aspects with key components of strategic
planning. I found this to be extremely valuable for business planning not found in other Six Sigma resources.
* I found the book to be a useful resource, and easy to follow with a good coverage of the basics to include Project charting, team selection, project selections, etc.
* Follows the traditional methodology of the Six Sigma masters - Dr. Godfrey at North Carolina State University, GE & Motorola
* Logical presentation by DMAIC phases. Engages the team & demands that you ask the logical questions
* Index very helpful. Definitions for terms clear & concise. Although many terms not in the glossary, they are found in the text.
* The summary points & the statement format points within the chapters provided excellent process feedback to keep projects on track.
* The tips for project progress are very prescriptive; I found them quite useful, even for a novice or an infrequent user. Good web resource provided.
* The incorporation of case studies helped drive the application of key points in all the phases.
* Clear Minitab commands provided in the examples.

Its unfortunate that FASA never reprinted this sourcebook. The Star League is the basis of the entire Battletech Universe,
at least it was before the clans arrived. The information contained therein is incredible. It explains the relationship of
the terran hegemony with the other five houses plus a complete examination of the Periphery War which led to the Aramis
Usurption. The battletech information will work best the other five original house sourcebook, but this is clearly the best
one. For the detailed minded people, the sourcebook goes into detail about every Star League Unit that existed before the
collapse and lists what happened after the rebellion. When you take a look at those tables you realize the incredible military
power of the Star League. Most units were division sized not just a single regiment. If you ever get a chance to get a copy
of the book, definitely consider it.
The definitive historical document for Battletech

Victor is absolutely right. Anything and everything you want to know about the Star League, and the Terran Alliance and Terran
Hegemony that preceded it, is in here. I'm one of the lucky few who stumbled onto a copy of it, and it is one book I never
let out of my sight.
If there is any complaint I have about it, it is the lack of detail about the Star League's naval forces, but that really is splitting hairs. It is, indeed, a crying shame that this book was never reprinted, and one can only hope that in the future, that is rectified.

Melissa Stringham writes the following:
On July 18, 2001 I experienced an anaphylactic reaction to latex, which caused my body to go into a cardiac arrest. Being only 29 years old with a 2 year old and a 6 week old, my life was really in question. My whole life had changed, taking medications every day, not being able to do the things I love; I was slowly but surely falling apart. I couldn't eat very much. I was extremely anxious and very angry. I was walking on eggshells and waiting for everything to crack. I was shutting everyone out of my life because I didn't want anyone to worry about me. I put on a very happy face and everyone thought I was handling everything with amazing grace. That was a total lie. I needed help BADLY; I couldn't have gone many more months the way I was going. I didn't receive professional help until 7 months after my trauma. That is when I was introduced to Barry Richards personally and his book Sudden Trauma. He saved my life. I was given reading assignments and then we would discuss the book and the feelings I was having. For the first time I felt like there was a light at the end of the tunnel. The book describes symptoms and feelings exactly like I was having. I learned so much from the stories of the other survivors in this book and the steps they have taken to get their lives back. Getting help at the right time is so important and can elevate so many unnecessary thoughts and feelings. I can't recommend this book enough to help people in dealing and overcoming life's obstacles. It truly is one of a kind...

This set is nice overall, though I'm a bit disappointed the postcards themselves are bound together like a book (unlike the
Sandman postcard set, which comes in a gift box). But if you don't mind that, you'll love this set. You get a sampling of
Ross' best DC art, including a couple of his plates and litho's from the WB store, some Kingdom Come scenes, and much more.
Of all 30 postcards, I only consider 4 of them duds. The other 26 are spectacular.

Underground Railroad which I needed for a paper in college. It presents the stories behind various different escapists throughout
history. The pictures and diagrams are of great quality as well. Overall, an excellent book that can both entertain and teach
you at the same time.

A genuine masterpiece! I have read all the greats out there: Charles Bukowski, James M. Cain, Chandler, Hammet, Hemingway,
Orwell, Jim Thompson, Clarence Cooper, Jr., Iceberg Slim, John and Dan Fante, Donald Goines, Joseph Conrad, B. Traven, Jack
London, Albert Camus, Knut Hamsun...and this guy, James Ross, with his one and only book is right up there at the very top
of the heap with the best of the best. You won't find better writing anywhere...and it's not so much the story even, but what
he does with it. Ross uses a deceptively easy-going, simple style that sort of sneaks up on your psyche and leaves a mark
long after you have finished his tale. A remarkable work; a certified classic in my humble opinion. Highly recommend it to
anyone who likes a solid read.

Raymond Chandler mentioned this novel (along with THIEVES LIKE US) in a letter in his collected letters, so I grabbed a copy,
and I can only say that Chandler knew one when he saw one. This completely amoral tale of roadhouse denizens in the depression
era South is wonderfully atmospheric and gets under your skin in an unforgettalbe way. Deadpan violence, stark atmoshpere,
and characters worthy of a pulp Faulkner. Don't miss it if rural American noir is your genre.

"They Don't Dance Much" was rescued from obscurity by Southern Illinois University's Lost Fiction Series. Author James Ross'
style is similar to James M. Cain; this book resonates like a film noir screenplay. Judging from the popularity of the recent
film "L.A. Confidential" someone in Hollywood should take notice. But "They Don't Dance Much" is more than a cheap thrill.
It's true literature. Those fans of excellent writing out there need to take a look at this book. They won't be disappointed.

The Author writes about her personal development from a youth directed toward the objective worship of celebrity and fame
to her arrival at new found faith and an established worship of her Savior, Jesus Christ. Written in a manner easily understood
by teenagers, this woman writes of experiences, dreams, and disappointments as the rose colored glasses of her celebrity worship
dissipates. I recommend this little book to anyone who sees nothing wrong in celebrity cult worship.

Excellent book on a subject. If you are interested how trauma influence health, this is a must read.
You will find a trauma pyramide, explanations that trauma is, description of most common traumas, including perfectinostic parents, setting unrealistic expectations, physical, sexual abuse. This is a good read for someone who is interested in Narcissistic Personality Disorder.
Trauma and abuse history is thoroughly explained and supported by research. Colin Ross describe his theory why SSRI are effective in treating various disorder and how trauma gradually develops in a human being by age 10, if this person grow up in abusive environment. He give some ideas about the way cognitive therapy is done to his patients and the way patients respond to it.
The book is full of memories how his psychiatry training was done, which is a fun read. I've found Dr. Ross remind me Eric Bern the way he describe things and his sense of humour is fascinating. It is very compassionate book.

Although it is obvious that this book was written more for other physicians and workers in the mental health profession (the
vocabulary is quite advanced to say the least), I found each new chapter held something in it to help me learn more about
the effects of trauma and the different outcomes of a traumatic childhood. I, having Dissociative Identity Disorder (formerly
known as Multiple Personality Disorder) was relieved to read that I was not different in the fact that I had been diagnosed
with almost everything and have been in and out of hospitals. I've also worked with the author's staff as well as his assistant
and, although I'm not quite sure of my thoughts on his view of memories, I totally agree that memories are not the point.
The point is that we wouldn't have problems if life had been bliss. I highly recommend this THICK book to anyone who, if they
don't have a complex vocabulary, is willing to look up words as they go. (smile)

In this landmark work, Dr. Ross challenges the field of psychiatry to make a giant leap forward in the treatment of mental
illness. After 21 years of carefully listening to patients and weighing scientific evidence, he has hit on what should now
be obvious: trauma causes and/or contributes to most psychiatric disorders. This is especially true for comorbid (many diagnosies)
patients. Just as a single disease can produce multiple physical symptoms, unresolved trauma can generate multiple diagnosies.
He describes why the single gene-single disease and biomedical reductionist models don't work for psychiatry. He also points
out many flaws in logic in the DSM IV diagnosies, making specific revision suggestions. His hypothesies will pique the curiosity
of many reseachers and lead to many dissertations. He concludes if trauma therapy is added to medication for many patients,
outcomes will be much improved. This is a must read for the serious mental health professional.

The Goops make teaching manners fun. We can all use books like this in our homes and of course it is great for small children.

I was so thrilled to find this book is still being printed!!! I have sent one to all the children for Xmas!! When I was much
younger, the GOOP books were a great referance on how to be NOT a GOOP!! I dearly loved these books as did my mother, who
shared them with us all. They are a book to keep forever, whenever you want to smile:) the drawings make it a super special!!
For children of all ages:)

I am a strong believer in teaching children the importance of proper manners and polite behavior at an early age. But all
too often, in our increasingly fast-paced society, the character development of our youth is left to the likes of Bart Simpson
and M-TV. I am delighted to have found this wonderful book which illustrates manners in such a humorous fashion. It makes
a wonderful addition to our "kid-safe" family library.
Trust Me, Mom!

This book is the perfect story for adventuresome children. It was a hit with my toddler nephew (and my teenage daughters).
Pure fun! The pictures are terrific!

This is an exciting day for Ollie; it is his first trip to the store all by himself. He listens to his mother as she reminds
him of all the do's and don'ts and then he is on his way.
However, mom didn't warn him about the witch, the aliens, or the monster that he encountered on the way; but Ollie can take care of himself as you will see in this fun tale of imagination for children.
Very cute book with great colorful illustrations.

My son, 3 and a half, really enjoys this book. He really enjoys the part with the witch, and often cites the lines from the
book while playing. We originally took this book out of the library, but ended up buying it because he missed it after we
returned it to the library.

Throughout the text are very good statistical examples using Minitab 14 that not only assist you in understanding the tool but also the appropriate application. There is a good balance of theory and practical applications for each step of the DMAIC methodology. This would be an extremely useful reference guide for any level of Six Sigma practitioner - Yellow Belt, Green Belt or Black Belt!
