This book is so pretty to look at! I love the romantic and vintage styles in it, but a couple of the others are just ugly! (Red Vinyl in a bedroom is just not my style!) Besides that, the book is nice :)

For anyone who feels the need to create a space that is just for them to restore the soul, heart and mind, this is the book for you. It is filled with not only wonderful pictures showing examples of lots and lots of different Boudoir styles, but also instructions on "How to Achieve the Look". It has detailed instructions on both the fabrics, colors, textures and feel to what is needed to achieve each look. There are more styles of Boudoir than I ever imagined! So many ideas! The book is written in a beautiful poetic style and is so inspiring.

A bit twi

THis book basically covers a variety of styles with which a young woman might want to decorate her bedroom. For example, "Eco Chic", French 17th Century, Modern, Retro etc. Some of the pictures here are really nice, particularly the Dangerous Liaisons and the Boho look, but unfortunately they felt it necessary to include photographs of models lounging in the rooms, something I found a little bit twi and annoying. The other problem is that this book seems targeted at young women, however the decoration suggestions of some of the rooms are quite high budget, for example Louis 15th style chairs, and so might not be appropriate for the average 20year olds income. Otherwise the book is quite good fun and I'm sure fulfils its main purpose...to inspire.

Its All in the Details

In our world people are typically flinging themselves forward in an effort to stay young while growing old and never looking at the world around them. At its core this book, Induced Revelations, is an account of a man who can see nothing else. This world, our world, and the millions of nuances that go unnoticed by nearly everyone haunt and horrify our protagonist. A great read if only for showing a 'normal' person exactly what having anxiety is like. However the book is much more than that alone. It is a tightly written narrative with an unforgettable cast of characters. It is truly a great book with what I would say has a very `Salinger-esk' quality. With this book, the beauty is in the details.

Induced Revelations, although revealing moments of interest and brilliance, falls short on various key points. Charachter developement suffers and, at times, even confuses identities in later chapters (referring to Ivan as Paul). The story line fails as it seems the author was "rushing" book completion. All in all, throw out two thirds, and you've got a reasonable interesting short story, not a $19.99 purchase.

This book gives the reader enlightening insight about how a person suffering from panic disorder is challenged to accomplish everyday tasks that many people take for granted. It is a daring look into the main character's mind as he struggles to deal with the frustrations that he must overcome during this pivitol point in his life to find peace. The story flows very easily from chapter to chapter, and you want the best for the main character as he explores options, legal and illegal, to best cope with the illness he's inherited.

First off, it is important to note that you can find new copies of this book from various Internet sites for much less than the $38 used price. Look around and you'll be pleasantly surprised.

I initially picked up this book on the advice of a friend. We're both heavily involved in search and rescue and we're one of a small group of people working on international search and rescue response capabilities.

Nepal particularly appealed to my friend for spiritual and travel purposes, and he found kindred spirits over there. He also found this book, and immediately sent it on to me.

Simply as a book about one person's adventures trapped in an extremely difficult situation, it's good. But it covers so much more - culture, search and rescue, spirituality, family ties, the changes that all of the participants go through.

I've been involved in several search and rescue missions in similarly difficult situations and this book accurately represents how they play out.

A must read, from my point of view.

Upon lying at home, bored out of my wits, i picked up a book that had been laying on my dresser for as long as i could remember. I had no idea the profound change it would bring about in me...

This book was amazing. I found the entries by James and his sister insightful and realistic. I loved the fact that there was a total honesty about the way they told the story, which propels you to learn more. There was never a time when i felt that i was not a part of the story, i felt as if i was suffering along with the Ryans and the Scotts'. A lovely read!

It has trully inspired me. i would like to know it Andrew converted to Buddism, as the Lama predicted exactly where James was.

Good, from many points of view.

Maybe it's the name we share; maybe it's that we both hail from the Valley in Virginia....I really like this book. I doubt Lucy Breckenridge could have imagined her forthright, honest and innocent comments would survive, much less impact a reader with such treasure of insight and sharing of like feelings--regardless of the time passed. Sometimes a teenager; often a woman wise far beyond her few years. At once, new and intriguing glance backward, while a more than passing look inside ourselves. I'm so grateful she hid it in her skirts when the Federal troops----oh, you'll need to read it all yourself!

For those of you like me who are not general history buffs but enjoy personal stories from bygone eras, this is a wonderful book. Reading along with Lucy, sharing her joys and pain during the days of the Civil War, she becomes a friend, and we her confidante. I highly recommend this book for anyone interested in the Civil War, particularly women's views. In reading her story, we can relive a piece of America's past through the eyes of a young woman.

The diary is an excellent way to look into the eyes of a young woman during the Civil War years. She sounds like a typical teenager today, writing about boys, socializing, familys issues, lonliness, happiness, body image, sexuality, and just life in general; however, it also contains information related to the time, such as her views on slavery and the war. Unfortunately, what is missing from this book is an historical examination into the people, places, and events she wrote about.

...And the TV screen. This book gives information on every episode of every incarnation of Maverick. Its main focus, however, is on the original Maverick, which is, really, the only one that counts.

MR.Robertson gives a plot synopsis of each episode, writer credits, director credits, etc. Included in the lists are the characters & the actor who portrayed that role. There are behind the scene reviews & what led up to those decisions. Also included are seasonal reviews of the five seasons of Maverick.

This is a perfect companion piece to the television series, especially, if Warner Brothers ever releases Maverick on DVD. The episodes are done in chronological order which sort of emphasizes "logical". I mean, that's the logical thing to do, isn't it, or it wouldn't be chronoLOGICAL then, would it?

I love James Garner and watch an old Maverick episode every chance that I get. I've viewed 10-12 of them at the Museum of Radio & TV in New York & Beverly Hills.

The book was a good reminiscence of the various Maverick shows over the years. A "3" rating is about as high a rating as you can give show books of this genre.

A comprehensive look at the episodes of Maverick TV show.

This book is an excellent collection of descriptions of the episodes of the many incarnations of the Maverick TV show. It features each episode's "Pappyisms" in an easy to find format, and even lists unaired and unfilmed episodes of the later shows.

Though there are quite a few rememberances and inside details on the production of the original series, I would have liked to read more.

Overall, an excellent, and entertaining read, pardner.

A Mixture of Frailties opens at the funeral of Mrs. Bridgetower. During the reading of her will, her son, best friend and others are told they are to form a committee to find a young women to fund that will get an education in the arts with the money Mrs Bridgetower has left behind. Her son with get just about nothing but the responsibility to maintain her home as the property of the trust.

Once a young lady is found, Monica Gall, it switches over to her narrative. Monica is a singer and is sent abroad to England to study with several different people. This story is about her experience abroad over the next few years. A Mixture of Frailties is the third in The Salterton Trilogy but I had no problems reading it as a stand alone book.

I loved this book. I will admit that it took several weeks to get through for some reason, but I adored it nonetheless. It's hilarious in a nonchalant way. That's just the way it is. A wealth of humor comes from the cast of different characters that Monica encounters and the situations that arise. It was a refreshing piece of literature. It seems everything I read these days you don't have to think much about and could read half asleep. This book is rich with description and humor is found in every situation which I liked very much.

I liked the character of Monica and identified with the point in life she was in. With this opportunity she grows, changes and finds out who the person she is to become is. All the secondary characters were well flushed out and meaningful to the story.

The weakest of the trilogy

In my opinion he should have kept The Salterton Trilogy in Salterton. The characters in Europe where too real. I enjoyed the caricaturish Salterton characters much better. This book does seem to have a bit more of a plot than the first two but I'm not sure Davies is that worried about plot in his books. Guess I'll have to read the other two trilogies to find out.

Davies hits his stride

To my taste, with this book Davies hit the big time. It's a wonderful story of a developing artist, instantly familiar to anyone who has been involved with the performing arts. Add to that the fact that Davies begins to really hit his stride in developing his mature style, with offbeat but recognizable characters, a plot that drives forward without ever seeming to rush, and his real appreciation for artists and students, and you have a real winner.

I used the 2004 edition of this guide as my primary text to prepare for the written exam. As a test prep, it does a perfectly adequate job of preparing the student to pass the written exam. It is of course not a substitute for studying other material in order to become a safe and competent pilot, but that is not the purpose of this book.

This book (and repeated use of internet-based practice tests) enabled me to score a satisfying 100% on my written. You can't get a better recommendation than that.

Note: You need to have a good basis of Statistics to read this book. Watch out!

I found there to be too much character & creature creation - aren't you glad we're all different? I really liked the landscape & environmental work - especially since the current push in video games is to make them more cinematic I see a need for vast improvement in landscapes & environments, needed by me to draw me into the game. And I really enjoyed the comments by the artists.

Lots of background for each individual painting is done by the artist who created the painting. They try to describe the mood, atmosphere, and feeling desired for each painting. Emphasis is given to environments and backgrounds, although there is a fair amount of character development and creature creation. Most paintings are finished work and not much preliminary work is shown.

Arthur Upfield's Bony books are a wonderful mixture of Australian life, natural history, and subtle humor. The Bachelors of Broken Hill is typical of his stories, though it is set in a remote mining town as opposed to his usual outback settings. Everyone where I live who reads one book reads them all. We pass copies back and forth as many are out of print and reread them aloud to each other. I keep a map of Australia handy to follow each story and have visited some of the places mentioned in his books. He brings alive a sense of intellectual curiousity as you follow Bony's clues to put enough evidence together for an iron clad verdict.

Classic Upfield, but not his best.

This is a classic Upfield mystery, although Upfield's not at his best here. Bonarparte is sent to a bustling mining town, but doesn't do much of his usual bushman's work. Upfield portrays the life in this town well, but the murderer's motive is pretty weak this time.
