This is an incorrect ISBN listing for "Tales of the Spectre Kings," which is more properly found under 1-928999-01-8.

This supplement is an update of the original 1991 supplment "The Spectre King," including most of the original materials and a new sequel adventure, "The Tale of the White Horror."

A friendly note from the publisher, Peter Corless of Green Knight Publishing.

A remarkable achievement

A remarkable achievement. The included audio CD is worth the purchase price alone! As a self-taught potter, I particularly appreciate this book. Of the hundreds of items I've purchased through Amazon, this is the first time I've felt really compelled to offer a review. Anyone even marginally serious about making pottery on the wheel or better understanding its Southern roots in the United States will benefit greatly by reading this book and listening to the candid interviews of humble rural craftspeople who did this work simply because they discovered its value and it became their life. This is a wonderful book, and Mr. Mack has captured some real wisdom here that now will be available for many generations to come.

Excellent resource for violent crime and victim issues.

The author has captured the heart and soul of capital punishment issues by allowing victims of violent crime to voice their opinions. I was often surprised by the outcome of their attitudes toward this controversial issue. After Diane Robertson interviewed death row inmates and those imprisoned for life without parole, there is a correlation between their opinions regarding life and death issues. It is clear for some that to live under incarceration is a far more serious punisment than to have one's life terminated for capital crime convictions.

Great collection of DVDs

Demonstrations and clear explanations are the best way to learn how to draw, and these DVDs are filled with them. Scott is Almost intimidatingly good at what he does, but if you do the exercises and stick with the program that he describes you will improve dramatically. The only drawback is that he has a mild monotone, so don't watch these while you are sleepy. His voice might be a bit dull but the content of these DVDs are very exciting. Thumbs up!!!

If you want to learn from a gifted teacher and designer, this is an excellent choice. His didactic manner shines more brightly than many other Gnomon DVDs. Vehicular Design is Robertson's expertise and passion, and that shows. Remember, Disk 1 on perspective is a MUST before graduating to this level.

This is a book of a story within another within another. The author keeps them going all at the same time and manages to tie all the loose ends up by the end of the novel. This book keeps your interest throught the whole novel and helps you discover a few things you didn't know.

This book is very helpful to both kids, teens and adults who are doing a project, researching, or just reading for fun. It contains interesting facts, helpful facts, and it has GREAT pictures. There are also some little side stories, but mainly it is made up of facts, stories, and happenings during the war. I reccomend this for anyone who is at all interested in the US Civil War because it will pull you in farther and you will become even more interested in this topic once you read it and you will pick this book up again and again.

Still off the beaten track
Helpful Votes: 2 out of 2 total.
Review Date: 2000-07-28
Ernestine Hill visited Australia's Northern Territory in the 1940s and her text from those years is still of significant value today. Whether the old characters she met in those days are gone or not (they are not all gone - it's still possible to find some of them out in the mulga), the stories she tells about them and this extraordinary land are still worth reading, perhaps more than ever. The Territory is still off the beaten track (except perhaps for Darwin and Kakadu) and the colour you get from a book written forty or fifty years ago is still vivid and impressive. At the time she wrote it (if memory serves me, she was a journalist working in Sydney or Melbourne, who was taking time off to travel Australia), the outback was still extremely remote and unknown even to most Australians. She was criticised by some of the people she wrote about, as having no idea what the place "was really like" and for being "a Southerner" who knew nothing about the north. Yet I for one, who lived for four years in the Top End, appreciated her text very much and I think we can be extremely happy today that she managed to get it published. It will take you back to a world, much of which is gone forever. Yet if you get the chance to stop a bit in the north, you'll be surprised what you find, and Hill's book might just put you on the trail of discovery.

Ernestine Hill wrote a number of books about northern Australia, one other of which I've read. "Australian Frontier" is her story of a trip around the coast from Perth to Darwin in the 40s and it is also well worth reading. In particular she tells some stories of the pearling days in Broome and Darwin, which are worth having a look at. I just hope books like these won't remain out of print forever.
