As someone who is appalled by the passive learning and hypocricy inherent and unchallenged in our educational system this
book was an INSPIRATION to me. I found a copy several years ago at a thrift store in Chicago and among other things the book
inspired me to create a radical student action committee at Teachers College Columbia University (oh let's just say they HATED
me at TC). This book is the incredible account of two "hippy" sociology professors who challeneged the ENTIRE educational
system and attempted to create classes that fostered "active" relevant and meaninful learning for their students. They refused
to assign grades to assignments and generally ruffled LOTS of feathers! At one point, one of the co-authors publicly burned
his doctoral dissertaion instead of handing it in. The best part of the book is the account of how they responded to then
Governor Ronald Reagan's attempts to censor a work of nude student sculpture. The authors created a class called "The Myth
of Obscenity" in which they set up three projectors: one showing a police training film, one showing a 7th grade sex education
film and another showing a porno film - these images were projected side by side for their students while live naked models
approximated the poses of the nude sculptures that Reagan had banned from campus. Needless to say, they were canned shortly
thereafter. What an INCREDIBLE little book! If you can find this at your library or Salvation Army store or here at Amazon
- PLEASE read this book!

This fast-paced and moving book is beautifully written. Robertson's psychological insights are fascinating. I am ever more
amazed at the breadth of Ms. Robertson's knowledge and expertise.

This is aimed at younger readers, but I found it well written, an engrossing romp through the unpopulated areas of North Central
Pennsylvania. Set in 1861, and based on fact, the authors weave a captivating tale of uneducated backwoodsmen going off
to fight in the Civil War. The title comes from the men not knowing left from right, so to teach marching, hay was tied to
left foot, straw to right. An excellent first novel for these writers.

This book chronicles the adventures of the Hypotenuse, a funny two-headed creature, called Headwun and Headtwo, and its friends
Andy the anteater, Greenfrog, and Mousefink. Together these animals have lots of amusing adventures in the forest. This book
is very entertaining for young children, and is still fun for older children and adults to read also. Unfortunately it is
now out of print and difficult to find.

Robertson is an excellent critic who tells the story of Heine's life and also provides analysis of his major works. He also
considers the question of Heine's Jewish identity and committment.

Wonderfully researched! ex: Most Christians are familiar with "The Man from Arimathaea" who gave his tomb for Jesus's burial,
but have you ever heard "the rest of the story?" By researching the secular documents of the times and comparing them with
the Bible and other writings, a more complete picture can be drawn. This book covers the new computer analysis and recent
learned study of ancient documents intelligently. It is written for the layman. I highly recommend it to any history buff
or Christian who wants to know more!

Fresh stylish concept for a thriller excuted with flair

This modern crime thriller had real pace from the first to last page. By combining very different locations (Jamaca, South
London and Scotland in grip of winter) and colourful local characters Robertson managed to create a number of very memorable
images in a tightly written story.
The novel raises some thought provoking social issues about our multi-racial society. It does so very much in the context of the plot so that this is not a distraction but a logical sub-text.
The novel left me keen to know more about how the main characters develop in future.

The majority of the book centers on his captivity and eventual escape towards the end of the war. WHite's insights on his captivity are important; he was captured well before the fall of Kut, where the Turks had to deal with thousands of prisoners from the siege.
Interesting anecdotal stories abound throughout the book. GOod page turner.
