It is exciting and fun to read. The cover is beautiful too. For me, it is hard to read. There are too many words to read and a lot of pages. I like the picture because it is like a real toy.

Toy Story II is a book about a boy named Andy and the adventures that he has with his toys. Two of his favorite toys are Woody and Buzz. One of the things that happened in the book is Woody got kidnapped and almost sold to the konishi toy museum in Japan. Luckily Buzz and some of the other toys risked their lives to save him. Many other things happened throughout the story. Toy Story II, writen by Leslie Goldman, was a fun book to read. It kept my interest throughout the book. With each chapter, I wanted to read more. I found a pattern in the chapters. one chapter told about what Woody was doing. The next told about what the other toys were doing to save him.

Good for Beginners

In this petite 85-paged beginner's guide to yoga, "Yoga for Bears" demonstrates 31 various yoga positions, each posture interpreted via two drawn bears. (The master is on the left; the beginner is on the right.) Although the bear drawings are cute and unique, I found some of the positions slightly more confusing and inaccurate by using the illustrations rather than human subjects. It was hard to tell what goes where (especially on the Triangle and Sitting Twist exercises), but at least there's a descriptive paragraph on every other page that tries to clarify the yoga position.

There's also additional information in this tiny book (which, by the way, is easy to take with you almost anywhere), such as a recommended reading list, a brief intro to yoga (including the Sanskrit names of each exercise), hints and advice, and some useful addresses and telephone numbers for finding a yoga class (though they may be out of date by now).

"Yoga for Bears" was given to me by my sister a couple years ago when she had gotten over her yoga craze. Although I've only used it once or twice (I'm not really into yoga), I'd still recommend this book to beginners, particularly ones who love bears; after all, these furry creatures detail the entire book. However, I'd still follow the bit of advice on page 14 if you're serious about approaching yoga properly: "find a good teacher and go to a regular class." You may run the risk of injuring yourself by practicing alone.

Simple, beautiful

How sad it is that this little book has gone out of print! Yoga for Bears is a sweetly illustrated users' guide for yoga practioners. Cartoon bears, accompanied by brief explanations, demonstrate a variety of asanas.

I.M. Richardson has done a great job retelling the Greek myths. Students love to hear about myths and legends, gods and goddesses and The Adventures of Eros and Psyche along with the rest of Richardson's Greek mythology series are vivid, well written pieces. They are ideal for young researchers, drama classes, and any reading group. I would rate the reading level from grade 2 through 4, but I have sixth graders that love to reread these classics. Yes, we need to be multicultural and hear legends from all over our globe, but let's not forget the beautiful tales from Greece.

Aliens, extended edition

Newt's Tale is a good, solid movie adaptation of Aliens, with a few additions. The first twenty or so pages tells the story of Newt's family, and how the alien plague beset the colonists. It's interesting to get the backdrop to the story that we weren't provided in the regular edition Aliens movie. However, once the story moves to the Marines coming, it becomes a movie adaptation, strait across the board. Nothing new or original is added until the last page of the book.

It would have been strengthened if the adaptation were less literal, if it showed some of the more quiet moments the film missed.

Still, Richardson's script is good, and Somerville is a good artist for the book. The aliens are dead on accurate in the way they look, although the people don't look exactly like the actors in the movie.

If Rebecca Jorden, AKA Newt is one of your favorite characters, and you don't mind an adaptation graphic novel, this is a good addition to an Alien's collection.

Applause for author Peter Richardson for his prodigous research and enlightening prose. Carey McWilliams, possibly more than any other person, influenced hot button social and governance issues in California and America during the mid-1900s. If one really wants to know what a multi-talented activist can achieve, "American Prophet" is a must read!

Dairy and letters home to his mother, by U.S. pilot, describing his experiences in training and flying for the Army's air service in WWI. By the time he was sent to the front to actually fight, the war was almost over, so there is little regarding combat but good descriptions of airplanes, training, air bases and morale of the flyers.

My mother, a grade school teacher, used to bring home bags of books from the book sales at her school. This wouldn't have been a book I'd have picked up otherwise, but it's one I remember vividly from my adolescence 30 years ago! This story is set in an unconventional boarding school; its protagonist is not a perfectly coiffed blond cheerleader but a girl who feels like a lonely misfit. The school year sees her change and grow and find her true niche. The characters and their teen angst ring true; the boarding school sounded like an incredible place to learn. To top it all off, this is the book that turned me on to Shakespeare, because I had to read "The Taming of the Shrew" after reading about their performance!
