The photographs are amazing. The text is in depth.
It works as a coffee table book for a flip through, as a historical reference for Churches of Canada and their stories or as a good read from cover to cover.
A great great book.

This biography of the colorful 19th century activist, statesman and politician who worked most of his life to make slavery illegal in the USA seems mostly to stay with facts and avoid speculation - as tempting as speculation can be when all of the facts are not known. The book was well-researched over a long period. In part, it emplasizes CM Clay's influence on Abraham Lincoln regarding his political stances on emancipation. I found it a very interesting and easy read - its only about 150 pages. Great for those who want substance not fluff but aren't looking for ponderous details.

Being a public speaker, I was looking for ways to grow in my speaking skills. The Charisma Factor provided me with the tools to stir an audience into action. It is not by manipulation, it is by harnessing some of the well researched principles discussed in the book such as, entrainment, vocal synchrony, and sensory stimulating language to effectively impact your audience. If you work on using the principles in this book, you will communicate on a deeper level with those you come in contact with.

I admit it, I collect books and am a railroad junkie, especially interested in the 1930s through 1950s. This book came as a surprise, given the Colorado photos on front and back covers, and the subtitle reference to Colorado Railroad Museum.
In fact, Chasing Trains covers much more than Colorado - many other parts of the US, Mexico and Central America, and Iran, all places where the author traveled starting in the 1920s (he was born in 1910) and ending in the mid 1990s.
He describes his addiction to railroads, traveling to and on all types. The writing is excellent (though photo captions often repeat material already in the text). The photos are excellent, and for the most part unique: his photos on his unique travels.
I also enjoyed his Colorado materials, mostly about narrow gauge, that comprise perhaps 1/3 of the book.
Want to take a train ride "in the good old days?" Try this book, along with Burt Blanton, 400,000 Miles by Rail, and William Middleton, "Yet There Isn't A Train I Wouldn't Take." For great photos but narratives not always strictly wedded to fact, Lucius Beebee also must be included.

This book is more than adequate in providing basic design guidance, answering the question, Will this work? What is the best equipment for this unit operation? This book does what the Chemical Engineer's Handbook should do. Of course, the handbook is still useful, but information is not presented in a succinct manner. Consider Chemical Engineering Design as a current quick reference handbook for solving unit operations calculations and selection.

A good range of essays about Richardson's key films. Most of the essays are easily read (not overly academic)--the work with TOM JONES is especially solid. Recommended as an overview of a talented man's career

This is an excellent work on Civil Procedure.It covers courts of
jurisdiction, formulation of pleadings, responses to pleadings,discovery, the jury trial, joinder of claims, parties to an action and much more. There is a very detailed section
on the operation of summary judgments and motions thereto.
The table of citations is enormous. The text is excellent for
law students, attorneys, litigants pro -se and a whole host of
constituencies in the legal profession and in the general
public at large.
