I'm stayed up until 2:00am reading this book, because I couldn't put it down. Each anecdote was funnier than the one before. You catch yourself laughing about the author's hilarious antics throughout the entire day. I can't believe how funny his life is. It should be a lesson to all of us on how not to take life so seriously. This guy sure knows how to enjoy it!!!! I can't wait until Leno gets wind of Dr. Pharte! I would have given the book 10 stars if Amazon would have let me!

This is one FUNNY book!

I almost fell out of my bed laughing so hard! That's why I had to write a review. The book was recommended by a friend who insisted I read it for a fast, great, upbeat read. I got the book in an independant bookstore in Aspen. What a character Dr. Pharte is! Pass it along!

Ponder writes with such style that the book instructs the reader with seemingly poetic verse. The book is eagerly digested. I couldn't keep my hands off, as I hungrily sought out the next profound morsel. There are myriad books on wealth building. THIS combination of The Dynamic Laws of Prosperity and Giving Makes You Rich is the REAL DEAL. If you are just beginning to create your divinely planned and abundantly blessed future BUY THE BOOK.

I love this book.

I bought this book in 1996, and it was my introduction to the culinary arts. I truly didn't start using it until 1999, when I found myself in an apartment without roommates. This book taught me how to setup a kitchen, and provided me with the basic know-how required to make some truly delicious meals for myself. It also provided me with much needed confidence in the kitchen.

This book is a treasure, and it is truly unfortunate that it is out of print. If you are a young man, or woman, and need help learning how to take care of yourself by learning to cook this is the book for you. I've collected many cooking books since this one, and still turn to this one the most. It is the easiest and most entertaining "how to" book I have ever read.

My simple recommendation is buy the book and enjoy a wonderful introduction to becoming a true epicurean.

What a fabulous book for a young, single man!

It's really too bad this book is out of print! The pictures may be a bit dated, but the advice is timeless. In very humourous fashion, it tells the reader (presumably a clueless single guy) how to wow a woman through cooking her a meal. Unlike most cookbooks, it also gives him much-needed practical advice -- such as how to prepare his apartment for her arrival. The cartoons and illustrations further the text and are funny all by themselves (I sat on the couch and giggled my way through the book). The recipes are very well laid-out and sound really tasty, with due regard given to providing variety in dishes (even a vegetarian menu). And (as a young woman) I can say that all of the "how to impress" advice is as dead-on as generic advice can be.

This would make a wonderful gift -- funny and useful at the same time. I plan to buy a copy now for each of my sons (three of them!), to put in the "moving away from home" future gift box. Every single man needs to have this book. Oh -- and I'm also keeping a copy for myself, because those recipes sound GOOD! I think I'll cheat and fix a romantic dinner for my husband...

This book is fantastic! Any person whom (professionally or by amateur interest) considers themselves an advocate for the environment, nature and/or planet Earth needs to know what is in this book. This is a CRITICALLY overlooked subject, effecting everything that lives on this planet.

Here are examples not only of effects on plants, insects and animals but how to mitigate them

A reader might anticipate from its title that ECOLOGICAL CONSEQUENCES OF ARTIFICIAL NIGHT LIGHTING holds a in-depth technical focus on night lighting's impact on nature - but it goes beyond chronicling science to consider how human activities from lighting affects animals and plants in a variety of ways. 'Photopollution' exists nearly everywhere thanks to mankind's activities: here are examples not only of effects on plants, insects and animals but how to mitigate them. Sections seek a readable approach by pairing vignettes of events and experiences of nighttime creatures with plenty of science and analysis of the physiological and behavioral effects of light pollution. It's these vignettes which make this book accessible not only to college-level students of science, nature and ecology but the general non-scientist public library browser, as well.

A highly informative and understandable resource
Helpful Votes: 15 out of 16 total.

This is the best book I have read on the subject for adults with learning disabilities. Shapiro and Rich write in a way that is easily understandable by laymen and also in a way that is highly informative. If you have a learning disability, you can easily relate to their examples of other real people with similar problems and learn how LD problems are diagnosed, what causes the problem and treatment methods, including strategies and drugs. I would certainly reccommend this book for any adult who has a learning disability or simply wants to learn more

At last a book on learning disabilities that you do not need a doctorate in the subject to understand. I highly recommend this book to anyone who needs some practical advice on this subject.

Chocolate for Thought

Review Date: 2006-11-04
I look forward to reading a delicious chapter each morning. I'm not even a chocolate lover but I love the way Louise makes it sound so good. Her words let me picture the moment and savor it as if I were there. On top of all the great imagery, I also am entertained by the great stories that always end with a special spiritual message to engage my heart.

I love this devotional so much I plan to give it a family member for Christmas.

A Little Taste of Heaven on Earth

Review Date: 2005-09-26
If ever there was a devotional book written for me-and my fellow chocoholics-this is it! At first glance, the cover makes you think it might be a recipe book. And it is-in a sense-for there are delicious, mouth-watering recipes scattered throughout. But it's much more than that.

Louise DuMont has a rare and delightful talent for devotional writing. Each page reveals not only her love of chocolate, but her devotion to family, the Word, and her Maker. You'll not only find tempting recipes such as Flourless Chocolate Truffle Cake (oh my!), you'll learn how to say "chocolate" in several different languages, how to make "chocolate clay" and other fun things to do with chocolate.

Did you know that there are fifteen "National Chocolate Days/Weeks" to celebrate each year? Of course, who needs an excuse to eat chocolate? I certainly don't. For a book of only 197 pages, "Faith-Dipped Chocolate" is truly packed with sensational, tasty pages of fun-facts, quotes and scripture. Some sample chapters to entice: Itchy Love; Instant Disaster; Diets and Dessert; Creative Inclinations, to name just a few.

Served up with rich morsels of Scripture, Faith-Dipped Chocolate gives a little taste of heaven on earth. It is also a perfect companion to Louise's first book, Grace by the Cup. What more could you ask for? Coffee and chocolate-a perfect combination. Ya' gotta' get this book!

WOW!! What an excellent find. I considered myself a true film buff until I read this book. At last - an easy to read and fascinating collection of film facts. The author has given us a different and thoroughly enjoyable slant on a well versed subject. Its unusual to find a new approach in such a broad area and this book hits the right spot. Truly entertaining and is the point of reference for any serious quiz/game player. Once read you'll find yourself picking it up time and time again. A must for your book-shelf!!

A Treasury of Surprises

Review Date: 2004-05-06
This book is so full of little known facts about otherwise well known people and films that it becomes a compelling read in its own right, which is a considerable achievement for what is essentially a book of lists. As well as being a must for film fans and those with an interest in quizzes, etc, it therefore manages the surprising feat of being highly entertaining when read as a whole. I have lost count of the number of times, I was stopped in my tracks by something completely unexpected, shocking or humorous. I doubt many people will fail to be impressed by this enjoyable and amazingly well researched book.
