I liked this book because it is a useful academic work that is (surprise) entertaining to read. The author has a knack for
presenting complicated concepts in an accessible and often humorous way, then backs up her points so they are meaningful to
educators. Reed's research is thorough and appropriately exhaustive: just a few paragraphs in it's clear that she knows what
she's talking about. Yet the reason I remained engaged in the book is that the author doesn't lose sight of her audience.
Reed's observations are practical, significant, and in many ways a relief for anyone who has felt frustrated or ineffective
trying to create change as an educator or administrator. This book helped me understand the role we all play in the complex
nature of the educational process. It left me feeling empowered and inspired.

Jean Cocteau's impressionistic poetry is simply amazing. It's in both English and French (and there's some famous erotic
drawings by another artist included, which I found to be a little inappropriate) and contains about 20 poems. I loved every
poem in the book and found modern allusions to them in bands like The Cure. I strongly recommend this to someone with a love
for intellectual poetry.

Words alone cannot describe this laugh a minute experience. The book is a collection of cartoons and caricatures centered
on the theme of lattes and scones. From "bear claws" with "lattes" to "latte IV's" Mike Clarke's droll humor and play on words
had me laughing out loud, chuckling, smiling, and guffawing.
From Medieval days to internet cafes Clark does spin offs on famous artists, history, philosophy, fairy tales, and Bible stories. His artwork is imaginative and wild. His characters are outlandish and uproarious. His side splitting quips are corny and clever.
This is fun entertainment for the family, your friends, the kids, and the grandparents. "Thanks-A-Latte" sets the pace for a fun filled evening of entertainment worthy of an encore.
This is cartoon comedy at its best.

I loved this book; I couldn't put it down! Both my husband and I read it in one sitting. The plot was compelling, a real
roller coaster ride with lots of complications and surprises. The characters were real and likable. I particularly liked the
interactions between Klein and MacClough, and the bedroom scenes with Kira were...umm...attention getting! I was moved to
tears at several different points, and laughed aloud at others. Coleman writes in a style reminiscent of Lawrence Block,
with some Chandler and Hammett thrown in for good measure. Great dialogue, too! Check it out!!

The Prelude, divided into 14 books, was first published in 1850, a few months after Wordsworth's death. In 1926 a second version
divided into 13 books was published. In this comprehensive two-volume edition in the Cornell Wordsworth series the photographs
of the MSS are contained in the first volume and the transcriptions in the second. The reader is offered thousands of new
substantive and accidental readings revealing with rare depth and precision WW's fascinating creative process spanning many
years. A detailed history of the poem's growth from two books during 1798-1799 to 14 books during 1832-1850 is supplied
by Reed in his introduction. Reed's patience and skill in editing this complex and daunting material deserves every praise.
The physical aspect of the volumes is praiseworthy as well; unfortunately the MSS photographs are not always clear; but this
does not in any way diminish the book's value.

First of all, the first posted review under Reed's THOMAS MANN: THE USES OF TRADITION (2nd ed.) is not of Reed at all, but
of Prater's recent biography. Reed himself has brought his now 20-year-old study up to date, and it is by far the most aesthetically,
politically judicious critique of Mann's career I know of--and written by a scholar who has made significant contributions
to an Anglophonic audience's understanding of Goethe, Schiller, and the Weimar classical period generally. One may regret
that Oxford books cost so much (!), but in this instance the investment is well worthwhile

I am a Registered Dental Hygienist in the state of Kansas. I have been in practice for over 20 years. I recently saw this
book at my daughter's orthodontist. I want one!!!!! I can talk, talk, talk, and try to explain to my patients the effects
of poor oral health care but nothing compares to actual photos of what will happen if teeth are not taken care of. When an
adolescent or teenager sees what can become of their mouth if they don't follow simple techniques that I teach them, their
eyes get really big and their first word is "gross". I have seen pictures such as those found in this book totally turn poor
home care in to awesome home care. When I see the patient six months later and their mouth is healthy, it reminds me just
why I love my career so much. BUY THIS BOOK !!!!!
