Our family is Jewish - Conservative and we absolutely love this book. We first saw it at our synagogue gift shop as we wanted some readings for putting up our Mezuzot. The book is so beautifully written that we keep it on our living room coffee table. It is short enough for guests to get a good look at it and we always receive warm compliments from all backgrounds. It's a lovely way to stay a little connected and share some of the lesser known beauties of Judaism.

If you want to sell your writing, you need this book.

Every writer needs three things: a pen, some paper, and this book. Listing hundreds of publishers, magazines, and agents of all sorts, this is the most comprehensive collection of publishing information I have seen. Its topics range from small press, to foreign press, to genre press. Whatever you write and wherever you live, this book will list the publisher that's right for you.

It's a bit pricey, but considering its wealth of information, it's worth the money. There are other books about publishing, but none are as complete. This one is the whole caboodle. To otherwise accumulate this much information, you'd have to buy several smaller books. Spare yourself the effort and get it all here in one buy.

You've spent a lot of time and effort on your writing. You owe yourself the best chance of getting published. This book is the first step.

Creatively written and illustrated by Wendy Reed, Little Lilly's Polka Dot World is the engaging tale of a little polka-dot loving puppy Lilly and her marvelous world of polka-dotted kitties, clothes, houses, and even a polka-dotted tongue! Young readers will following cute Little Lilly as one day she discovers upon her tongue a collection of purple polka-dots, Little Lilly's Polka Dot World will captivate children from first page to last with Reed's lyrical authorship and fun pictures. Little Lilly's Polka Dot World is very highly recommended for both school and community library picturebook collections.

Littlest Camel- Biggest Delight!

The Littlest Camel is the story of the Three Kings, from Sandy, the littlest camel's, point of view. Sandy's optimistic and loving personality is charming and moving, as he carries the gift of gold to the Christ child. Along the way, he makes friends (and enemies). The reader will find themselves rooting for Sandy and becoming part of his adventures.

I thoroughly enjoed this book, and recommend it to children, families, and all those who love Christmas stories.

Absolutely beautiful

Review Date: 2005-04-18
A guide that motivates you to discover the seas, this book, apart from aiding identification of some of the Indo-Pacific's most beautiful critters, presents the regions biodiversity at its very best. With photographs of an exquisite quality, not a single image is sub-standard making for a clear depiction of every animal - coral or critter. For photographers, this book also includes a handy "Ideal lens" note with each image.

Take note though that is a photographic guide, and not quite a field guide, so don't expect too much information on species and varieties or sites, but there is an informative and interesting note built of a paragraph or two, that is attached with each image.

This book has a good, though not complete, coverage of cowries, nudibranches, and scorpionfish - probably the more common species and varieties which you are likely to encounter. Half the book then presents the marine environment by zonal distinction, i.e. sandy weed and rubble, which really covers all creatures from snails, cones, eels, and other invertebrates and gastropods.

Most of the animals featured in this book are macrolife, so don't expect images of pelagics, baitballs and coral scapes.

While it claims it is a guide of the Indo-Pac region though, I feel it would is a better guide to the zone between Indonesia and Micronesia, otherwise known as the triangular hotspot of biodiversity.

As a writing instructor, freelance editor and writer, I would like to see every library in the country have a copy of this book in their reference section. It is invaluable for anyone searching for an agent, publisher or interested in self-publishing. The cost is all that keeps it off my personal book shelf. An outstanding compilation. make sure your nearest library has one for the writers in the area to use as needed.

On-the-ground wisdom about our nation and its people
Helpful Votes: 6 out of 7 total.
Review Date: 1999-07-01
Roy Reed is among the very top journalists of his generation. He covered the civil rights movement and then the White House for the New York Times before retiring early as its London bureau chief. This wonderful little book is a collection of his more reflective pieces. After he left London, Reed moved to an Arkansas hamlet named Hogeye to search for his roots while teaching journalism at the University of Arkansas. Several of his articles are based on life in Hogeye, but they tell universal stories about life in America. People searching for a deep understanding of our nation will not merely enjoy this book, they will love it. For any journalism student or young reporter seeking a newspaper career, this is a must read -- nothing can show more clearly what greatness in journalism looks like.

A candid memoir of remarkable content for readers seeking documentation of the terrors of being a POW in World War II

Review Date: 2006-06-03
Lost Souls Of The River Kwai: Experiences Of A British Soldier On The Railway Of Death, is co-authored by Bill Reed and Mitch Peeke is the simply riveting autobiographical story of Bill Reed's service in the British Army during World War II, including his capture by the Japanese who put him and his fellow POWs to work as a slave laborer in southeast Asia. Surviving under lethally abusive conditions (including being tortured by his captors), Lost Souls Of The River Kwai tells of Reed's enforced participation on the "Railway of Death" and offers readers a vivid description of how just how traumatically the experience effected him for the rest of his life. A candid memoir of remarkable content for readers seeking documentation of the terrors of being a POW in World War II subject to the terrors of the cruelly merciless Japanese, Lost Souls Of The River Kwai is very strongly recommended reading. Large Print format.
